Hail and well met. I am Gale, a humble adventurer who hails from Eorzea and a fresh face in this realm of Genessia. With my travels, I've become well versed in not only the arts of the sword and the arcane, but the art of song as well. A bard, if you will. And as much as I would love to say that I was the one who sent Lady Tyler the flowers, alas, I cannot. But perhaps I will make a note for next time.
[But wait! If he's a bard, then where are his instruments? Well, in a sudden flash of white, Gale's attire had completely changed, now with a fife in his hands.]
Now, my lords and ladies, for your entertainment...
[And so, he begins his performance, putting his vocal and instrumental skills on display. It was a song he'd grown fond of in his arrival here while adjusting to the many varied music types of the realm, which reminded him greatly of his many travels- and one that allowed him to both sing and allow him to play the fife. He, of course, was not one to half ass any kind of performance. He was a bard, damn it!
While he was far more focused on his singing and playing, he wasn't about to make it visually boring. He was, after all, pretty fond of dancing too which meant him putting his body into the performance as well with some well timed steps and complimenting twirls. He was having fun out there, and it was moreso thanks to the fact that he could perform on his own merits, and the weight of the "Warrior of Light" title meant absolutely nothing.
With a last twirl to go with the final note of the fife, he'll give a courteous bow again. Win or lose, this was still a fun venture for him.]

The jaunty, fast-paced ditty gets his bones shaking, and he even tries to whistle along, as instructed.
Skeleton whistling's a little eerie. Once it's over, he claps enthusiastically.]
WOWIE! WHAT A SONG AND DANCE!! I HAD NO IDEA THE 1ST WAS ALSO THE SEVENTH!

My thanks, but ah, it's the first piper that must be gone by the seventh day. They're quite different.
[Judging Round]
And why that song in particular?

I've not been one of this realm for long, but learning of this place's expansive library of music has been a fascinating experience. This particular song felt like a satisfying blend of the style of music I am personally accustomed to from Eorzea, and this realm's more "advanced" takes. It was quite fun to learn.
But those are simply the technicalities.
Far more importantly, the lyrics invoke the images of many adventures and lands well traveled, never one to stay in one place for long. T'is truth that it may not be a song of my own penning, but it invokes the many personal memories of many travels as a bard, and the second verse, the dedication of aid, service, and protection to those who dwell in Eorzea. It has become somewhat of a sentiment for me since the moment I first heard it, to be honest.
[Being so open is somewhat of an oddity for Gale, but it's hard not to appreciate certain musics, after all.]

[Judging Round]
[He rests his chin in his hands, thinking.] A question first, before I go on. You're a bard, someone capable of summoning an instrument and costume, and you're something who's in a higher league than the others in this contest in skill. So why did you choose to use a song someone else wrote instead of using something of your own?
no subject
[So he won't bore anyone by going over what he said to the other judge already.]
One is the fact that many songs of my own writings only see their use on the battlefield. Though many say bards have no place in battle, few that have traveled with one can deny the support in combat that they are capable of. As such, many of my songs exist to cause harm and weakness to foes, and I needn't tell you that such a song has no place in an establishment where many have gathered to enjoy themselves. Many of the songs I play solely for the entertainment of myself or others have been penned by someone other than me, and part of my enjoyment in the performance is bringing their songs to new ears.
[He gives a loose shrug and a small, sheepish smile.]
And there is also the fact that I simply hadn't the time before the competition to pen a song anew. Much of it since arriving has been spent learning the ways of this place and working for other establishments. [And then there was the whole "Estinien arriving" thing...] There is much I hadn't found the time for yet, and learning has been the best way to spend it, newer songs included.

[Hawks just doesn't think there's any real heart involved, especially in comparison to what he's seen so far already. While Gale is obviously the most talented of the group, and very skilled musically, to Hawks he's just not as appealing as the more heartfelt competitors.
But no matter what choices are made, that showsmanship stands out. So he smiles, and nods in response.]
Good luck in the competition.

[But she's sorry Gale, she's not a Jethro Tull fan, way more into Electric Light Orchestra of the two.]
The Doctor nearly went mad starting fresh with no reputation, and he actually had his other selves to boost his reputation. And even though I only started bass and singing here, it doesn't mean more than if I'd done it before. It's a big adjustment, your first world, and having a good anchor like music and performing can mean a lot!

Ace probably won't win this, but at least he'll be taken down by someone who really impresses.]
