[Upon his arrival, Mysterio was in full costume, looking like Thor, Dr Strange and Iron Man rolled into one. Now he appears on the network in regular clothing - a brown sweater and tan trousers - looking elegantly casual.]
Hello again.
I have had some time to to explore and familiarize myself with this world and I'm impressed with the technology here - at least in Nova City. It's far beyond what I've seen before yet it's also lacking. That's why I am going to work for and with Aster Technologies and we can combine our knowledge to do great things.
Now, I know, I introduced myself as Mysterio when I first arrived and that is indeed a name I am known by but let's have a proper introduction now, shall we?
My name is Quentin Beck.

C'mon man,I'm a nerd. Even asking that question is an insult.

[He's letting Peter do it because he knows it's likely Peter wouldn't trust him. He could say it's private then go on and announce secret things on a still public line. Of course there'd be ways to double check from both ends but with their tech knowledge, maybe there were ways around it. He's also now seeing the extra advantage of network over face to face meetings - where their every conversation can easily be recorded, for future use. He's not going to bring that part up here... just keeping it in the back of his mind.]
private until noted otherwise
[ Darn right he doesn't trust Beck. He does indeed have some ways to check if it's really private, but ... best to do it right the first time. ]
You're incredibly freaking obnoxious, you know that?
Private!
[All at once, gone is the soothing stoic hero voice and his speech becomes much more animated and emotional.]
You know what's difficult? Not being able to speak freely and have people actually listen to what you have to say. It's frustrating and you know what? In some way I'm glad you know the truth because then we can have real conversations.
Re: Private!
I get to make small talk with an asshole. Awesome.

Now, you wanted to know more, did you? About my tech.
[Secretive as he may want to be, having someone appreciate and be interested in it is something he can't resist.]
no subject
I - yeah. Yeah, I did. I didn't have enough time to figure it out past realizing I could short it out with electricity.
no subject
Now, don't go thinking I'm just going to reveal all of my tricks to you, but you can ask some questions.

As a kid, sure I loved computers and gadgets but I also loved seeing the behind the scenes in special effects and movies. They did some amazing things, even back in the day.
I ended up kind of... fusing these things. The tech put into the special effects. So much could be done with it. So many possibilities.
[ooc note: Filling in the gaps and making some assumptions, since the MCU hasn't fully explained backstory or tech and other connections to Beck possibly leaching off/adapting/stealing of Stark tech as well.]
no subject
Really? So - all of that was CGI, basically? I thought it looked like a mocap suit...
(( OOC: TOTALLY FINE I'll roll with anything. ))

[He seems a little offended, despite him being the one to bring up movie special effects. But the passion for the subject can clearly be heard in his voice now as he continues to speak.]
No, my tech is revolutionary. It can be projected to the entire world, live. You've seen it. You know how real it looks. How real it feels.
That part... Getting it to a point able to be felt and touched, is something that needs working on but the effect is there, and the drones accomplished the rest.
But think of it! With this technology you can do more than talk to long dead relatives to get that closure and clarification. It has many more uses aside from personal therapy or entertainment. Meetings could be held face to face, as if the person was right there before you. Good for long distances as well as places where it may be dangerous to confront the other person, such as a prison or a warzone. But negotiators could have more direct contact while keeping in a safe place.
Or it has testing purposes for many other jobs and situations. Doctors could practice surgeries. People can be put in a scenario that could be deadly and see how they cope. All in relative safety.
[Kind of like what he did to Peter, but not ending with a high speed train.]
Of course there are also augmented realities for a vast variety of reasons, including games and entertainment as well as just supporting somebody to show people are there. There could be the most impressive advertising anyone has ever seen. It could serve so many creative and practical purposes.
So many, many possibilities. What I can do is an art. An untapped resource that needs to be known and used to its full capacity.
[He pauses a moment in his speech.]
As for the suit, it has its own uses and is incorporated into the show. I can project myself into the illusions, my own movements reflected in it, yes, like those suits but more. I can control everything from that. It's the most important key element.
[It's something he's reluctant to elaborate on. The tricks in the suit something he's wanting to keep more to himself. The tech itself is what he's putting up here as the star.]
[ooc: anything ending up totally incorrect can be chalked up to Beck's bullsh*t lies. XD]
no subject
That's - that's a lot. Why didn't you do any of that? Why try and change the world with lasers if you can do all that?
[ He has a sneaking suspicion he knows the answer, but. ]
no subject
Unless you have the influence and power of money or status behind you, nobody listens.
I needed something huge to make people see, even if they didn't really understand what they were seeing. They needed to see a great hero. An Avengers level of hero.
Beyond that, even!
But once they were paying attention, then I could show them more. All this work could truly be appreciated. My work would take center stage.
[Ego much? But he clearly feels very underappreciated and bitter about it.]
no subject
Do you ever, like, listen to yourself talk? Like, the tech is completely awesome and I've got zero arguments there. But you're making it all about yourself.

no subject
But also you sound unstable.
no subject
I really don't like that word.
[He takes a deep breath.]
That's both a good thing for and a negative thing against you, Peter. You can see what's wrong but you try to find the right, don't you? In Tony.
Perhaps in me.
You have to believe in the good. Concentrate on that.
[It's an observation, not an order.]
no subject
[ Anyway, not important. He just sort of considers that for a moment, thinking. Rubbing at the back of his neck. ]
It's a lot easier to believe you're a decent person if you don't go off like that.
no subject
You want me to be like the mysterious hero: determined but calm; patient.
[He doesn't get it since to him the latter is more of an act.]
no subject
Well - no. I get excited and nerd out too. It's not evil.

But you don't have to be some kind of edgy cool hero either. Somewhere in the middle. I dunno.
