Log 02 | [Action/Video]
Good morning to those who were not murdered in their sleep by Mr. Mime.
[At this point, Gale was getting pretty sick and tired of hunting for these weird monsters that were around the cities. Sure, he loved the ones he's gotten so far, but he was well content on being done with it. How many do you really need? Plus he had other things on his mind anyway. Maybe that's why he kept dragging himself out, to keep himself occupied from the dozens of questions flooding his mind because of Aymeric's appearance. And now he has two of those master balls so he has to make at least one more trip out. But not today. Today he's at Garden Park looking pretty tired, and he's got a number of food containers with him. Delphox seems to be guarding them, while Gale is sitting next to them with his phone out.]
With the arrival of our... numerous new companions, I took to the library and located resources on food they prefer. [He gestured to the containers next to him and Delphox.] I've spent many an hour cooking a variety. If any would care to bring their companions to Garden Park to try some and pick some up, you're more than welcome. [A pause.] Do remember these are for Pokemon.
[He wasn't sure what else to say, but it almost seemed silly to only make a video just about offering treats to other trainers. He hesitated before shrugging.]
And for what it is worth to some, I am currently in talks for taking the "clubs" that my namesake left behind under my wing. T'is the least I can do for him, I feel.
[Fayren - Lioriley's Cottage (Private to Lioriley and Aymeric)]
[Gale had made several batches of the Pokemon food specifically for Lior, figuring she had quite a number with her between her own catches and Estinien's. And she put up with Estinien for this long, it was the least Gale could do in return. Not that he had any strong attachment to the guy (especially this one, the one from another timeline), but he had to repay Lior's kindness in some manner. Moreso since she played along with Aymeric's prank on the dragoon.
So he would eventually go to Fayren, with Druddigon and Delphox in tow helping him carry the food he made. It was... a lot... but Gale had spent quite some time in the kitchen and cooking. "Quite some time" translated into days, actually, but it's a good pastime and it meant keeping all the Pokemon fed.
Once he got to the cottage, he looked over his shoulder at Druddigon and Arden before adjusting the containers in his own arms so he could knock on the door with the back of his hand. Hopefully she was in, otherwise he'd have to either leave the food here with a note or carry it all back to Nova.]

[ Ever hopeful it was easier to believe that all the pain and suffering of so many people were paving the way for a better home. There was room to doubt. After all attempting to change a thousand years of traditions and beliefs wasn't going to be easy. Faith in the people, faith in the greater good that lies within people, reminds him not to be consumed by doubts. There wasn't time for that at home and there wasn't time for it here. ]
A unusual circumstance this is. [ Akin to Lioriley he can't give a committal answer. He's used to overworking. To piles of paperwork that might rival his size. Training knights with bow ans sword. Social and political obligations. He was entirely too use to working that a personal life was particularity alien. ]
Gale, by all means. I'm afraid I'm not an impartial party when it comes to explaining your role. [ Embarrass him. He'd like be the reason Gale gets up and leaves if he were left to sing his praises. ]

Gale seemed to pout. Neither Lioriley or Aymeric seemed to agree with what he said. Gods, why do politicians have to be so bloody stiff?]
... I'm sure it is a foreign feeling for you, but you have no such obligations here. Lest you take up the position of one representative of one of the cities here.
[Which please don't. He doesn't know what the political life in Genessia is like, but he already has his doubts about the Guardians. He would prefer to not have to fuss about these two taking up that kind of position.
He tilts his head in response to Aymeric. Not impartial? ... is that a good thing, or a bad thing?]
I'm Eorzea's errand boy. [He jokes, but it sure felt like it sometimes.] I've the blessing of the Mothercrystal, Hydaelyn, so I am the one the world turns to should a primal - a god taken physical form - appear in the realm. The blessing of Light means that I cannot fall under a primal's influence like others can.
[It's a bit awkward for him to explain, but he also didn't exactly like talking about himself. Sure, felling gods on your own is a pretty big deal, but it does just make people take notice of you and be like "hey you're super strong, do this thing for me!" or some other nonsense. At times he truly did feel like a pawn that the city-states could exploit, which is all the more reason why he was extremely suspicious of Ishgard's intentions. They sure as hell never cared about him before.]

Truthfully, I had considered vying for such a position, but my arrival in this realm made a campaign rather difficult. ( She muses quietly, mostly to herself but it's clear enough what her future intentions may be. Or maybe not - who really knows at this point. She'll just have to see how this place runs before making any rash decisions.
Her eyes widen a little as Gale explains his title and position, her interest piqued (which isn't to say it hadn't been when Aymeric was speaking of Ishgard, of course) significantly. A thousand different scenarios run through her head, her imagination as overactive as it always was. 'Primals' and 'gods' she hones in on specifically, trying to imagine what these creatures of his world might look like and if there is anything similar back home. ) Fascinating! You are both truly important men! ( She clasps her hands in front of her, cheery and smiling. ) What an honor to have you here assisting me.

You undersell yourself. No doubt the whole of Eorzea would fall if not for you. [ He wants to say he was exaggerating but between having heard tales prior to meeting Gale and of course witnessing the other in action himself, well, he really wasn't stretching the truth. While he could further point out the impact that Gale has it's Lioriley that catches him off-guard. ]
Ah, outside of Ishgard I'm afraid I'm but one of countless people who wield a sword.

[Papyrus was mostly harmless, but the fact that he's one of the highest powers in the realm... was questionable at best. But he was content foregoing that conversation.
By now, Gale should be used to the praise that gets showered on him by now, but there were times that it still made him uncomfortable. He kind of wanted to argue Aymeric, but he was... kind of the only one that could stop the primals and what felt like the dozens of times they were summoned. And that's not even going into everything with the Garleans. He gives Lioriley an uneasy smile, waving his hand.]
T'is nothing, truly. That title means nothing here and I am simply happy to assist. Say what needs done and it will be.
[And what she appears to need help with is nothing compared to having to run across the realm and fighting the Primal of the Week like home.]

( Lioriley understands the modesty, and years of experience suggests that if Gale's mission as the Warrior of Light is anything like heroes she's known in her life... it is almost expected. No true noble hero ever flaunts themselves openly. She gives them both a look, the corners of her lips curving upward slightly as she drinks the remainder of her tea. )
Regardless of your own opinions of yourselves, I truly meant it when I said that I am honored to have you here. We may not have slain any Primals or what have you, but I likely would have gone mad today had I been here alone.
( She looks down at her half empty bowl of soup and chuckles. What she says next is done so absentmindedly. ) I was worried I might not have company at all for some time, given how quickly Estinien had gone.

[ There were already shortcomings of his that he was failing to bring up. If it wasn't for Gale, maybe he would be willing to admit them. His failings however caused more suffering for people including his friend and that was a subject for another day. One where it wasn't a discussion to be had over lunch. ]
Any friend of Estinien's is a friend of mine. If ever you have need of aid or company you need only to ask. I will happily answer the call. [ He's sincere in his words. If not for the fact she aided his long time friend the fact that she was a kind soul was incentive enough to do his best to help her. That and the high number of pokemon that had been running rampant through the house. ]
Just as well that it may aid in adjusting to a life outside of duty.
[ That's a bad jab at himself, he knows. ]
no subject
I am glad we were able to aid you at such an hour. But I hope you'll excuse my hanging around to help clean up after them all. And truly we owe it to you, for your kindness and aiding Estinien both.
[If there was anything that was worth being thankful for over the whole 'Warrior of Light' thing, it was how easy certain skills came to him, which meant being a jack of all trades and then he could offer his aid in more than just managing to calm down some Pokemon with food.]
So long as you're committed to the adjustment, it should come easily. I doubt you will have any trouble.
[But he also don't know what the life of a Lord Commander entailed, so maybe it would be terribly awkward to adjust. He doesn't know.]
no subject
Well, she does know. She wants to ask them to stay now. For the night, for the next few days, for a week. She just wants other people around now that her roof-dwelling friend had vanished. Pokemon were nice, and she would never want for noise and keeping busy... but it wasn't the same?
Oh, she should probably say something. )
Oh no, I do not mind at all. In fact, you could - Ah. ( Her voice wavers slightly. She clears her throat and presses a hand to her chest like she's surprised by the sudden lump in her throat. No, she shouldn't be so forward. ) Nevermind it. Would you excuse me a moment? ( With that she gently pushes her seat back and excuses herself from the table, making for the living room so she can gather the sleeping Cubone off the couch and set it into another room. Nice excuse to go cry alone because you don't know how to act like a person, idiot. )

He nods at her as she gets up to leave. Her action does breed a small measure of concern. Of course, he knows, she is no doubt capable as she could handle Estinien. To give her that bit of time to take care of whatever it was. They have given him time to sneak in a preparing a lunch. He could give her some time before jumping to conclusions. Instead he figures may as well continue polite conversation until one of them worries or she returns. ]
Mayhaps acclimating shall be easy. I admit I've not considered what life I'd lead outside of my position.
no subject
Still, he keeps it to himself, even if that concern is written all over his face. Aymeric sure seemed awfully calm about it. And he seemed willing to carry on the conversation, so... guess he may as well leave it go, for the moment.]
I doubt Ishgard gives you that luxury. You have time still to consider it here, it is not as if we are short on time.
[For the briefest moment, he entertained a thought of offering Aymeric a place at his primary... "place of work." But he couldn't do that. That would be too mean. He glanced down at his own near-emptied soup bowl before looking back at Aymeric.]
I mean no offense, but I had not figured you to be one to cook. There is always the possibility of pursuing that of a culinarian here. You certainly have the skill for it.
no subject
Were it that I had put more thought into the idea beforehand. The idea may feel less of a challenge that I've no idea how to address.
[ A mountain that he should know how to climb but somehow he must have missed memo. How he missed forming any idea of what his future beyond lord commander was perhaps short-sighted on his end. Now he had to face the reality of everything he knew to do effectively meant nothing. ]
Ah, I wished to learn when I was younger. I thought it only fair to be able to prepare meals so that the servants might have time to themselves. [ That little compliment gets a chuckle out of him. ] I would require practice and that may cut into your own desires to cook. I wouldn't wish to deny you your fun.
no subject
Far be it from me to deny you more experience. Besides, it is not as if I would be in your way.
[He makes it sound like Gale's dinner offer extends further. Sure, Gale would be happy to cook if someone asked, but it's not like he'd be stalking Aymeric and mysteriously appear just to cook.]
... But I do feel I should apologize. I do not know how much my... "future self" has said to you, but I am wont to get carried away with my venom towards Ishgard.
no subject
I would have scarcely entertained the idea before. However...it may be an idea worth considering. As well, with your travels mayhaps you might be willing to introduce me to dishes outside of Ishgardian dishes.
[ He loosely folds his arms, fingers tapping against his arms as he runs through his mind to find a way to address that apology. If he thought that Aymeric would ever fault (or most people who had suffered through Ishgard's problems) then he would be wrong. ]
I appreciate it but you needs not apologize. Instead I shall offer you a hope, that the reform set into motion might ease the pains that bring forth such venom. You will always be welcomed. My home is yours should you ever need a place of rest.
no subject
Ah. Of course. I have quite the repertoire to choose from. All you needs do is ask.
[Such casual conversation with him was a far cry from the serious exchanges he remembered between them up until this point. But it wasn't as if Ishgardian politics and its warring tendencies allowed for such. Then Gale heard the words he never expected: "the reform set into motion"
Reform?
Hearing those words caused Gale to stare at him in surprise. There was... some hope for Ishgard after all? His wide eyed gaze softens before he looks back to his tea cup.]
... you're far too kind, Ser. But I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you.
[He almost wondered if this meant Gale should consider going to the Dream Docks, so he could learn first hand just what all of this was about. In his state right now, though, he should probably avoid it for now. He almost couldn't believe that there could be some good to potentially come out of Ishgard. He was confused. He wasn't sure about how to take any of this, and he was certain it was likely written all over his face.
Gale slowly gazed upwards, then in the direction that Lioriley had gone.]
Is... she alright?
no subject
I shall be certain to ask for your guidance soon.
[ It's easy, for him, to adjust all things considered. The day to day life was a struggle to adjust but the moments of sitting by and chatting almost feel normal. As if he wasn't away from the only home he's ever known. The one place that he swore himself to no matter what the cost was even if it meant his very life. ]
You're welcome, Gale. I would ask you remember that as the realm will no doubt need you.
[ As he himself needed Gale so too would countless others. A hope that his home might become a place of quiet and safety for the other was all he had. That of anywhere in the world there could finally be a place where he would not need to be the warrior of light. Where he could simply be himself. Sarcastic comments and all.
His turns his attention as well to where they had observed Lioriley leave. Politician types. He had a fair idea of why she excused herself. The same reason anyone practiced at holding back certain truths and emotions did. There was one emotion threatening to overwhelm them. It was concerning and the situation left him unsure how to proceed. So many elements that were different from everything he knew. ]
The day not been easy. [ He can only imagine given the somewhat frantic tone she had called him. ] To say I do not worry would be a lie yet I am uncertain if it is fair to intrude upon her time when she excused herself. T'is her home, not ours.
no subject
He could save those concerns for later, as he was most certainly going to begin overthinking about it later. Right now, his concern now was Lioriley. It had been some time since he excused herself, and it was so sudden. Maybe Gale just didn't understand the political sorts and this was just something they did often, but he glanced back at Aymeric with that concern remaining in his eyes.]
Aye, you're right... still, I cannot help but worry. There was nothing we said to offend, was there? I'm not terribly good at "helping" if I somehow upset her.
no subject
Lioriley smiles, absently rubbing under one of her eyes. )
Forgive me for abandoning our conversation so suddenly. I thought it best to make sure the Pokemon were still behaving. ( One can assume they are, since no strange noises had come from outside, or whatever. ) I hope I did not miss anything important.
