It's October.
Halloween is this month. It's a popular spooky holiday where folk tend to wear costumes and/or inspire fear.

Usually, something weird will happen.
This could involve physical and/or mental transformations. There could also be attacks from random supernatural entities.

I've personally experienced 3 Halloween related transformations.

If you plan on going to a costume party, I suggest picking something you won't mind becoming.

I was stronger and tougher as a bear, but it could've been disastrous if you had no control.

I could say the protections are Halloween decorations.

That demon's lines sounded like they came from an AI.

I suspect I only lasted as long as I did, because it didn't see me as a threat.
