[Something should strike her as off about the gift for him to suggest that she can just sell it... but it really doesn't. She does chuckle at the sentiment though.] That's true. Especially as I need to get a new bass.

[The last bit was mainly thoughtful to herself, and is the deciding factor as she stares at it again, before tucking it away carelessly. Attention is back on you, dude. (And now it strikes her as a bit odd...)] I think I missed you around here before. So what's with the present?

Betelgeuse shrugged.

"I don't know. 'Tis the season and all and I didn't want to get caught out, if someone expected a present from me."

[smelltheredinside]

[She nods. Fair enough.] Well, I haven't got you anything in return so...

[She has an idea. It's either going to be amazing, or totally suck, depending on how good your sense of humour is.] Stay right there. [The fact she snags the paper that your 'gift' was in should be the main clue to what's about to happen. She goes out of eyeline, and... rewraps the doll. she's holding the old gift in her hands as she comes back to where he was, just hoping the guy stuck around. Because really, this joke will be totally not lame, right?]

Fortunately, Betelgeuse did have a rather good sense of humor and is patient, or just curious, enough to stick around. He smirked in amusement, seeing the gift. He figured it was the doll, since she no longer had it in her hands.

"Is that for me?" he asked, chuckling lightly.

[And him chuckling is all she needs to know that you're definitely an all-right guy with probably the right sense of humour. She knows it doesn't take a genius to figure out what she's done.]

Betelgeuse took the package, opening it just enough to see it's the doll and grinning. He sticks it in his pocket. Hell, he might even give it back to the kid it was meant for. He tries to not mess with kids too much. Poor little mites have it rough enough.

"Thanks, babes. Just what I wanted," he teased.

It took me ages to find it. No need to thank me for finding you something so totally rad. [She's grinning again] So, have you got a name or am I just calling you 'stripey suit doll guy'?

[betel_geuse]

"Of course I've gotta name. I'm just not allowed to say it. It's a magic thing. You can call me BJ, though. What's yours?"

Do I also get to guess what BJ stands for? [A grin.] I'm Marceline.

You can try, but I gotta tell ya, standardized spelling wasn't a thing, when I was alive. Good ta meet ya, Marceline babes. So, what do you do for fun in these parts?

I'll figure out something~ [Even if it's not the right one, she'll give you a name eventually.] Hang out, run with the wolves sometimes, hunt monsters, mess with the humans a little bit... lots of fun stuff. I like fun.

"Heh. Sounds like a blast. Where do you find wolves and monsters, around here?"

He grinned. He was looking forward to seeing what names she came up with. If she turned out to be as all right as she seemed, he might eventually text it to her.

Wolves and other stuff can be found in Fayren, monsters and other totally cool horror flick stuff can be found in Everglade.

Everglade. Cool, thanks, babes. I met end up looking for work there. Kinda coming up short here in the main town. People go back and forth a lot?

I think so. [But it peaks her interest, both because (a)it doesn't seem to be short of work in town, and (b)What about people going back and forth a lot?] So... what is it you do?

"I'm a bio-exorcist. I scare living people out of ghost homes, if they cause problems, especially for newbie ghosts who aren't very strong yet and are still adjusting, y'know what I mean?"

...I think I get it. Yeah, you want Everglade for sure.
