[OOC: So this here post can be used for quick 'Character X got Character Y a new pair of _______________ for the holidays' lists, or play out the giving, or whatever. You can RP it out, just make note of it, or even post your own thing outside of this list if you prefer! HOORAY FOR PRESENTS!]

[As soon as he spots those hairs, he gets a bad feeling about this. And yet, there's that morbid curiosity there that means he can't just put it down and leave it alone. He goes back to it, taps impatiently, walks away, tries to do something else, and so on. For a good couple of hours.

It gives him such a bad feeling.

But he can't help but think what if it's something important?

It's going to sit on the table as he goes back and forth, trying to ignore it. But he finds himself staring back at it. It's a while later, finding himself staring at it again - though at the moment there's no-one in here for him to go to and be distracted more than he is now - before he sighs in frustration and grabs his jacket.

He needs some distance from it. A walk might help him decide to be not stupid about this, like he just knows he's being and just can't help it. ]

[A walk is a really good idea and his timing is even better. He'll make it down to the end of the walkway, maybe even to the street before time finally runs out.

Now it's just a question of whether the sound of the massive charge, or the blast wave reaches him first as his house is consumed in a rolling ball of smoke and fire.]

OOC: And just to round it off and link the two together, that's all the link is here

[The sound. It reaches him first, and he hits the deck, covering his ears. Not that it helps, his ears are ringing and then the blast wave rocks across his skin and he feels it as rubble reigns down on the street. Even through the ringing he hears the sound of brick and wood hitting metal and the smashing of glass.

When the few seconds that stretch forever are over, he slowly uncovers his ears and turns to stare at what's left of the house. It doesn't matter what he's been through, apparently he's still not immune to that unfortunate tendency of the human brain to turn to fucking shit when the really world-rocking stuff goes down.

It's a short while before he can function enough to reach for the comm. But it's one of those habits that hasn't broken from home (Phone always on him, comm always on him), and he's pretty sure he should be glad. You know, when his world has stopped falling away and he can feel anything but numbness again.]
