[ a young woman from a "normal" world with no powers or supernatural occurrences to speak of ought to have been shaken after waking up in a pod and finding herself in a stranger world — but not quinn fabray. this was far from being her first jamjar rodeo, thus in place of where fear should've been, there was only irritation. ]

Of course this happens when I have three papers due on Friday and the first of several midterms next week. If it's not the summer before college, it's right when I'm in the middle of it.

[ she sighed, hefting the strap of her bag up higher on her shoulder. someone was nabbed on her way to class. ]

I get how this is supposed to work, but I'm not really seeing the point. Why am I here? Is this some sort of prison sentence or more of a zoo deal?

A prison sentence or a zoo deal sound like weird ideas. Where'd you get them? Have you been in a zoo before?

Something like that.

[ vague, but how does one go about stating that they were wrongfully imprisoned for petty "crimes" that fell under the category of average teenage shenanigans with other people who were and weren't guilty of far more serious crimes. her closest friend in that place had been a vampire, after all, someone she knew (through the girl's own admittance) was guilty of that which she was accused of. quinn, however, hadn't been. not to the degree she was held to. writing things about people on the walls of the girl's restroom had been not only vandalism, but the spreading of propaganda in their eyes. ]

The lines blurred. It was hard to tell whether it was one or the other some days.

This place isn't either. It's pretty much just like getting transported to another planet and being free to do whatever you want, plus some weird but usually fun things.

[ A beat, then a smile. ]

Except when people are being assholes.

There are assholes everywhere. Being transported to another planet isn't going to diminish the ever-present population.

[ though not being in a prison or a zoo sounds way too good to be true. she didn't realize these scenarios came in more than just those two flavors. ]

Well that's pretty obvious, but there are assholes with superpowers here sometimes. It's a crappy combination if you're normal and capable of dying. Plus if you really want you can expand the world and do all kinds of weird things. Just about the only thing you can't do is go back to your world.

I assure you, I'm very familiar with assholes with superpowers.

[ and being the normal person capable of dying. ]

And we have our common denominator: The no exit sign.

Basically. There might be one, but I haven't looked for it. I doubt someone would've found it and kept it a secret unless they were really selfish, though.

Never underestimate someone's ability to be selfish.

[ not sure if it's high school or having spent time around so many vampires from mystical falls that's tainted her outlook. possibly both. ]

[ Oh, she knows that pretty well. A few burglars murdered her brother and sisters in front of her because they wanted some money. ]

I know, but even if that's true, then that means an answer's out there anyway.

Zoo? Well, we're all people. Or mostly, rather. So I'm not certain it's like a zoo. Maybe like an...odd vacation park where people from lots of places all visit!

[ the boy appeared to be nothing more than a kid. children were forbidden from being entrapped within marinanova's dome structure, deemed too innocent to be held accountable for their wrongdoings. the only time quinn had seen kids within the facility had been on that rare visitor's day when people seemed to phase in and out without the threat of remaining. ]

I understand that. I've been in this type of situation before.

[Very much a kid; only thirteen and he looks a smidge younger, since he's small for his age.]

Luke Triton. It's nice to meet you, but I'm sorry that it's here since we've no control over what's happening.

I'm sorry that you got brought here during a busy time.

[She is genuinely sorry about that, she can understand to an extent, after all she had things she needed to do back home as well. They all had lives back home and being brought here and disrupting that is bothersome. Never the less Yuna is going to try her best and give a small reassuring smile for a moment, before looking somewhat confused.]

I don't believe it's a prison sentence, but...What is a zoo?

You've never been to a zoo?

They don't actually exist where I'm from.

[Considering in her world there are mostly monsters and not so much cute fluffy animals that wouldn't mind such a thing. Although she did recall a monster arena that existed a couple year ago but now was no longer there.]

I've been all over Spira, my home and I'm pretty certain they don't exist anyway.

Sakuya was taking a "shortcut" through the bay, carrying a bag in one hand. Yes it would be faster to just fly but a tranquil walk was just what she needed to unwind. Besides, she was off from work today. She had just gone shopping and, while there were plenty of stores near her current abode, none of them sold all the ingredients she actually wanted.

She paused upon seeing the newcomer, checking her pocket watch quickly before walking up to her. "Zoo? I should hope not. Though it does feel somewhat like a gilded cage, doesn't it?"

Quinn couldn't fly or teleport or do any of the supernatural (or powered) things that she knew, for a fact, other people were very much capable of. Walking was her only option.

She looked up when spoken to, shrugging the shoulder that didn't have a messenger bag hanging from it. "Zoos can come in all shapes and sizes, gilded and not. Just because we don't feel like we're on display doesn't mean we're not."

Sakuya chuckled softly, shifting the bag in her hand. "A zoo and a cage are very different. I doubt this is simply a zoo or exhibit, though I would not be surprised if we were kept here for a reason. Being collared and leashed or locked away doesn't have to be unpleasant if the accommodations are pleasant."

She paused, bowing quickly. "Oh! Forgive me. My name is Sakuya Izayoi, head maid of the Scarlet Mansion." Very formal. "Might I have your name?"

You don't sound too surprised for being taken to a new world magically.

Let's just say this isn't my first out-of-world experience.

[Rose had a feeling about that from what she did see.]

Then I guess you're not alone. This isn't my first out-of-world experience, either. Not that many people here have had it happen to them, so not a lot of them understand.

What was your first, if you don't mind me asking?

It was basically a fucked up version of Wonderland. They really liked to mess with your memories and you in general. Needless to say, by the end of it, I was ready to burn every Alice in Wonderland book I could find....

I was in this underwater prison where they blew every single wrongdoing you ever did out of proportion and made them out to be federal offenses. It was like living in a luxury resort you could never leave, where everything you did and said was monitored. Very Big Brother-esque.

[ both the reality television series and the 1984 novel. there had been elements of both present within the prison. ]

Christ.... Wonderland was fucked up, but being monitored like that would drive me up the wall. At least I could deal with fucked up events....

If it makes you feel better, they're not placing you in actual prisons.
