Two | Action/Accidental Video
[Spirit has been doing his best to behave, spending the vast majority of his time working or exploring the city. Generally, this has gone on completely without incident--barring a few run-ins with unsavory folk, he's been doing all right for himself.
Today, however, is not that day. It's already late when the video feed turns on. There isn't any image, just a black screen and quiet scuffing. The phone is still in his pocket.]
S'...h-hey. S'not even that late yet!
Look pal, you've been here for ages and you've had enough. Get out. Go home or something, I don't care.
[A door opens and slams. Any passers-by near Jack's Bar would be greeted with one intoxicated Deathscythe being tossed off the premises.
It's only a few moments later that the phone is fished out of his pocket. Anyone watching is greeted with a frowning face.]
Ah, shit...sorry.
[With that, the feed abruptly turns off.]
[ooc: feel free to run into Spirit along any part of this misadventure, from before he's kicked out to on his way home!]

"You..."
She is a combination of terrifying and adorable, though at the moment terrifying is winning.
The cookie in his hand feels huge and heavy, and he turns it over uncomfortably. "We have money here...I can get you more cheese. And meat. Whatever."
She is just saying that she's either killing people or actually turning them into cheese and then eating them. Seriously?

She puffed up a little bit. It would have been amusing if her teeth weren't so sharp. "I want to eat cheese! When bad humans come and hurt my friends I eat meat too."
The plush mouse she had been riding previously stepped forward, nudging Charlotte in the back of the head causing her to topple over. She looked up, blinking, the squishy creature nudging her more. Maybe trying to calm her.

Spirit carefully helped her up after the mouse toppled her over, smoothing her hair. Yelling at her wasn't going to help matters. "Have people...come'n tried to hurt you?"
Creepy as she was, Spirit didn't condone attacking her. That wasn't necessary. And she was so little. "Tell me a little about whas' happ'nned. I want y'to be safe so you don't have to be scared of people.'

"Yes!" She flailed her sleeved arms at him. The strange multicolored characters that drifted from her as she spoke became more twitchy and angled as she grew more and more upset. "People come in sometimes. They creep and creep and when they're found they hurt my friends! I want them to leave me alone! Leave me with my cheese! I hate them!"
She had puffed up quite a bit during her outburst. A mouse creature was scampering toward her as quickly as it could, carrying a block of cheese. Charlotte pounced upon it, the mouse bursting into sugar streamers and flakes of colored chocolate fluttering down in all directions. A single bite sheared the block in half, the little witch flopping sulkily down in the pile of multi colored sugar that had once been the plush mouse.
It was probably no surprise that the creatures weren't real. They were summons perhaps or maybe even created by Charlotte herself.
"They don't scare me. Weak. So weak." Another harsh bite, a few crumbs falling as her sharp teeth sheared through it. "They can have my cake. They can have my sweets. They can't have my cheese. I can't make more if they take it. It's mine. MINE!"

He wasn't drunk enough to make sense of her explanation.
Still, to his eyes, she was still a child. An upset child, at that. He didn't move from his position, crouched beside her.
"Let's not worry too much about that. You know how to use the phones right? If you want more cheese I can get it for you, ok?
He smiles at Charlotte. Placating her seemed like the best option for now: Spurity couldn't tell if her motives were pure or not and frankly he didn't care. If the kid had enough cheese then it seemed she was calm and nonthreatening.
He may not be a rocket scientist but he knew that meant that the kid needed to have cheese.

She was very child like, in fact, though it was impossible to tell her age from merely looking. It was reasonable to assume she didn't know how to use a phone.
She looked up at him, finishing the last bite of her current block, chewing sulkily. "Human. You will help me find more?" It was a question this time. "I looked in places all over for cheese. Some of it is hiding. You will tell me."
By now she had deflated, the sweets around them slowly growing more round and fragrant. Though a bit of liquid chocolate was dripping from a large crack in the cookie-like ceiling.
Man seeing Charolette next to the magical girls she is SO SMALL
Spirit ruffled her hair slightly, smiling. His goal was to look confident; however well that was being pulled off wasn't clear, but at least he was trying.
"But if I help you, you have to promise not to turn people into cheese. Ok? I'll teach you how to use the phone and I'll make sure you have enough cheese."
She's so tiny, but that didn't change that she was dangerous. If cheese was a usable bargaining tool, Spirit was not above using it. He was a father after all, and he knew that sometimes the only option was to bribe your kid into behaving.
She is plush toy sized :3
"Will the phone find me cheese?" She tilted her head some. A mouse creature poked its head out from behind a massive strawbery, staying there for several moments before scuttling over, the phone sunk into its face partially where its mouth would be. It sat up, offering the device to Spirit. It was fortunate the little witch had kept it much less knew where it was in this mess.
Then again if this realm had been made by her it wouldn't be too strange to assume she would know where everything was.
Adorable
"No, the phone won't bring you cheese," he says calmly. "But I will."
He hands the phone to her, and it looks comically huge compared to her. "You dial this number, and that gets me. And then, as long as I'm not at work, I'll come bring you some cheese."
Spirit reaches into his own pocket to show his phone to her. "I have one like it too. You call, and I'll find some cheese. But you can't turn strangers into cheese anymore, that's part of the deal."
He pauses. "Do you understand?"
Until the giant snake appears. Also do these phones have unlimited charge?
"Dial?" She reached forward and tried to poke at the screen, her sleeve making it impossible. Frowning she grabbed the phone with both hands, falling back onto her rear, attempting to poke it over and over. Eventually she leaned forward and touched it with her nose, the phone beeping in response as a number was pressed.
She broke into a large smile, pressing more buttons with her nose. He probably should set his number up as a quick dial...
She turned to look up at him. "I understand. But if bad humans come in to take my cheese I will get them. I will eat them. I want them to leave me alone."
And then she's terrifying X_x;; As for the phone I don't know, never thought about it to be honest..
"No eating humans."
He repeats this firmly as he takes the phone from her tiny hands and fiddles with it. Despite the technology being something he could understand well enough, he didn't use a regular cell phone often--most communication in Death City was via mirror, after all--and it takes him a few tries to ensure he has his information programmed in.
"Press right here," he says, showing her the screen and pointing to where he wanted her to press. When she does so, the phone he's set on he floor starts ringing.
"See? You can call me and I'll help you find some cheese. As long as you don't eat any people."
I ask because Charlotte doesn't have an outlet. xD
If what she was saying was true she at least didn't seek out humans to attack and eat. It might be easier to get her to move her little realm further away from where people might accidentally stumble into it.
Fortunately he showed her the phone again, her attention once again drawn to the glowing screen. "Here?" She poked the spot with her nose and several moments later Spirit's pocket began ringing. The little witch jumped back in surprise, the nearby mouse creatures tensing, looking up at him...
Hmm...I guess maybe they permacharge? If not they woudln't be useful for everyone in the setting
"See? That's my phone ringing now. And if I answer it--"
He lifts the phone and turns away from her just slightly, so she can hear what he means. When he speaks next it will be easier to hear through the phone than out loud: "you hear me through that instead."
That would make the most sense x3
"I can hear you through this." She sounded a bit surprised but not quite as surprised as someone who had never seen a phone before. "Can you hear me too?"
SHE IS SO CUTE HNGHH I wish she wasn't also an embodied curse
He turns to her, smiling. "See? If you need help for any reason, you can always call me."
Spirit hangs up the call and slips the phone away, smiling at her. "How does that sound?"
I NO, RITE? And if you think Charlotte is cute you should see Koishi.
"Hiding. I need to hide. Human, you will show me where to hide." At least she wasn't upset anymore.
I need that in my life too we've talked about this XD
He was aware that he didn't come of his own volition, and he ponders this for a minute. "I'll help you find somewhere to hide, that way I know where you are. And that...nurse thing. If you call for my help, then have that nurse thing come meet me."
Spirit smiles, convincingly. "Seems like a fair plan, right?"
I've been working on it. x3
At least she wasn't upset anymore, her colorful eyes focused on him. She waddled over and wrapped her arms around his leg, sitting on his foot. "Come often, okay? It's lonely. Toys don't talk and candy doesn't talk and nurses don't talk. You talk though. And it's not screaming either.
wow Charlotte that there is a comment about not screaming
Well if he had needed anything to remind him of the situation he's in, the comment about screaming certainly did it. But Charlotte was still a tiny little girl and he couldn't help but feel bad for her, alone and hiding.
"We'll pick a good hiding spot. And I'll come to talk with you. Maybe you can come--"
He might have offered then for her to come to the small apartment he shared with Stein, but that died unspoken. Spirit hasn't put together that Charlotte was a witch (which was truthfully better for the both of them) but even still he knows that Stein would be too tempted by the magical being to leave her alone.
"Well. I'll come and talk with you. And you can call me too."
He stoops down to ruffle her hair. "Are you going to tell me your name, kiddo?"
Because referring to her as "pink-haired tiny girl with pointy teeth who loves cheese" is kind of a mouthful.
........ Still adorable.
She tilts her head at the request for her name though, her forehead wrinkling. "Name?" A pause. "Name name name..." A nurse wandered over, offering Charlotte a pair of large scissors and a biscuit. The little witch began to carve into it using the sharp object, finishing after several moments and showing it t him.
It was a mess of strange runes. The same as he ones that drifted from her mouth as she spoke. "That's my name!"
Though the runes could be translated with some work a nickname in the meantime would work better.

Spirit looks at the biscuit with writing it in and blinks. What does that even say? "Can you..say your name? Because I can't read this."
He waves the biscuit at her, shaking his head. "Or tell me what you want me to call you, is that ok?"
Hey, at the Academy people choose their own names all the time. Spirit is a big supporter of 'pick what you want to be called' so he's going to leave it up to her for now.

She swallowed. "No one calls me anything. I had a name but I don't remember it. I don't care what you call me." More cake was appearing, the ground depressing slightly, the surface cracking a little bit as it changed from a sturdy cookie to some form of glazed doughnut.
I want him to just call her Charlotte but that kiiiinda breaks teh fourth wall so KIDDO IT IS OKOK
He will have to take her word for the tasty biscuit, because he's gently scooping her up so they could search for an appropriate hiding spot. He already had one in mind; at the edge of town there was an old alley next to a building that he was reasonably sure was abandoned. It would do.
"I think I have the perfect place in mind. I'll show you where. It isn't close so you can hitch a ride."
Spirit places the bitty witch on one shoulder--frankly he'd tuck her into his pocket but she's just a smidgen too big for that--and heads off.
That works! Gonna be strange calling her snake form that though.
The creatures began moving through the strange world of sweets quickly, fleeing from a vertical crack that had appeared, flooding light into the room... and leaving him standing outside in the exact same place he had originally disappeared. Maybe the sweets world was an alternate dimension or something... Regardless, he could see a strange cloud of eldritch smoke swirling around a glowing hole in reality. No doubt it would become invisible once more once Charlotte went back through...
At least with it being so small it would be much easier to hide away from people. He should probably still put up signs though. No doubt people will get caught in it regardless if he doesn't.
Yeah well you know
He walks in quiet, aware of the light weight on the top of his head as he searches for the abandoned building and associated alley that he thought would be a good hiding place. "I think this is a good spot, kiddo. I'll put a sign up too that says no trespassing, or something like that. People will leave you alone, then!"
