[Accidental video] | the great malfunction of 2013 - first victim
[the feed at first is shaking, clearly not even meant to be on. His hand is wrapped around the bottom half of the feed, and the scenery you can see on the screen.... everything is washed out and grey.]
No, no, I'm not back here. [the muttering to himself breaks off abruptly as he whips around at the sound of rustling. he turns a 180, and you're seeing the same patch of ground you just did before he veers to the left.... and the ground just stops and turns into concrete and is clearly more of a road. He stuffs the comm into his pocket, still clearly not even thinking about it camera facing the action luckily for you guys.]
What the hell is going on?
[There's a few flitting scenes as he doesn't really stay in them long enough, walking through them with interest, until one. He hits a dead-end alley with brightly coloured graffiti plastered on the walls. But that's not what he's looking at.]
I'm not a good fit, Dean. Not with vampires and, for sure, not with the humans. I don't belong. And after a while... that starts to wear on you. Right? Cry me a river. Like you need to listen to this.
[the feed's sound is muffled, but suddenly, he's reaching for his comm, determined to see if anybody knows what the hell is going on, he can feel the answering line on his lips even though it's not him saying it, there's a goddamned not-person there playing his part for him even as he stands here, and.... he can see what's coming, the realisation of what he's watching bursts into his head, as unwelcome as the scene.
Nonono.] Benny, No!
[The comm drops to the floor, cutting off with a clatter, the last thing on screen being an upwards shot of a face that says he's just about to watch someone die. And he's just rooted to the spot, distraught and unable to do a thing but watch.]

Re: [Action]
[A scene with a hospital bed. You don't even get to look at the guy on it as Dean pulls a 180, not even finished speaking.] We're not going this way. [Back through the last memory, one with a girl with a guitar, both looking about 16, and this one brings a small, fond smile to his face which encourages him to go forward. He takes a different door out of the house they are in, leading out onto a gravel road outside a church, the car pulled up (And a pair of legs just visible at the end of it suggesting exactly where Dean and Sam of this scene are), and the night's sky a-blaze with what looks like thousands of falling stars.
The sight is beautiful, and for some reason he can't put his finger on, terrifying.]
What's going-
[Oh, there it is. The slowly creeping knowledge of what's happening.] I think I preferred the time-life movie way of finding out what's going on at home.
[Action]
[She's done it a few times, though not in this city. She can't help risking one quick glance back toward the hospital, worried that it might have been Dean who'd been hurt, but it's too late to check. She just hopes it wasn't him.]
I can show you where I came in. If we both go there, maybe the Archway will show up again. It's probably just hidden from view!
[She hopes so, anyway. Dean definitely isn't enjoying this, so she'd like to spring him out if possible.]
Re: [Action]
Her comment has him looking over his shoulder briefly.]
We're not going back through that. It's got to be nearly over.
[Plus, there's the fact of as much as this sucks.... he's kind of curious. How does this play out? He can't just leave it at them falling, and the fact he can tell those are Sam's legs and boots as much as he now knows it in his head.] I've gotta find out what happens... next. Sam's really sick, and I feel like.... there's a bit more. [He takes a deep breath. This is his life. It sucks, but this is it. Call it the curiosity that killed the cat. Okay, he has mentally fortified himself for it. He feels a bit more ready than he was.] I've got to keep going. You can go back if you want. It's probably not anything you want to see anyway.
[Action]
I'm not sure what I want to see. But I don't want you to go through this alone, Dean-san. So if you don't mind, I'd like to stay with you.
[His memories are very personal, so she can understand if he doesn't want someone else seeing them.]
If you want, I'll just close my eyes and hold onto your coat, then I won't see anything personal you want to keep private!
Re: [Action]
[He gives her A Look, then shrugs. He just wants to know what's now teasing the edges of his brain, and then they're leaving.]
...C'mon. let's go.
[Walking past the car and the NPC Dean and Sam, Sam unconscious in Dean's arms as he's looking up and watching the angels falling, to a scene with a bed, with his unmistakably gigantic little brother. So this is the bit he does something reckless and stupid? Yeah, that's an inevitability, he's sure he'll remember what he did after the fact] We don't need to stay in this one. [He smirks] I can take a good guess [And he walks right through, opening the door that leads to the inside of a huge room. It's got a table in the middle of it, but this time, oddly, there's no 'Dean NPC. there's a Sam that, to Dean, he can tell it's not Sam by the way it's holding himself, and it seems to be talking as if he was there. He holds up a hand to stop her before he keeps walking.
He stops in front of the 'Sam', and comes away from the scene he stopped her from entering fully looking about fifty pounds lighter.
And maybe a lot happier.
Sure, it's not like he can take the angel in sam's head for his word on this completely, but... hearing 'you're doing the right thing' from someone that kinda matters? It makes him feel a little better. Not much, but enough to hope even a little that he is and keep doing what he's doing.]
[Action]
[She smiles sheepishly, bobbing a bow of apology, then moves to follow quickly after him. When he stops, she bumps into his arm, then peeks past. It seems he wants her to stay put, so she stays, trying not to watch, but trying to be aware of what's happening to him just the same.]
[When he comes back, she stops trying to view him out of her peripheral vision, and the look on his face causes her own expression to warm.]
Did it go okay?
Re: [Action]
Because, as much as he's doing to keep sam alive.... yeah, he's pretty sure he's the dead one if Sam finds out.]
It was fine. And about time something went right.
[Action]
[She has to keep clasping her hands together in front of her, since the urge to glomp him in a tight hug is fairly high.]
Ha ha, yay! I'm really happy for you!
[From what he's told her, he does seem like he's overdue for a happy ending...or at least a decent vacation.]
Re: [Action]
C'mon. there's only a little bit further to go, I think.
[He tugs her through some other ones, not lingering long enough to see what's really going on. These are ones he's seen before, he doesn't need them. They hit a motel room, where him and his brother are sat at a table, a dog beside them. Dean watches the verbal back and forth, realising that it's not getting any further than that, before he realises what he's gotta do. He pulls a face, before he wanders over, glancing over his shoulder to see if she's following. The spell that- yep, tastes like ass- is swallowed, him grimacing from the taste, and the archway appears where the motel doorway is.
He blinks at it in surprise.]
...The way out? Already? [Looking back. Sure enough, still looping. But no way back, either now.] Seriously? the middle of a goddamned hunt? [...but yeah. The middle of a hunt. And he doesn't want to go, even though it's not moving on. It's going to piss him off a hell of a lot to have to leave a hunt in the middle. The only times he has so far is when Sam's been in a fuck load of trouble.]
[Action]
[Orihime's head is tilted back, her hands behind her back as she examines the Archway now in front of them. She's definitely relieved to know they can leave now. What surprises her is Dean, in that he's not electing to jump right through the gate and yell "SAYONARA SUCKERS!" to this warped dimension. If anything, he seems kind of reluctant.]
[She turns her head to look at the phantom brothers, then back at her inadvertent travel companion. Leaving is good, but when she really thinks about it...is there really a rush to be anywhere? Is anyone even going to miss her if she's absent for a while? Dean is the only friend she has left in the world. That's a little depressing, but it is what it is.]
We can stay a little longer, if you like.
[Her shoulders hitch in a shrug. Whatever he wants, she'll stick beside him.]
Re: [Action]
I just... it's the middle of a goddamned hunt. [His eyes drift over to 'him' and Sam at the table with the dog sat beside them. Now it's not looping so much as it has.... just stopped. It looks eerie, to him.] And it's not going to move on by the looks of things, but... [He frowns]
Do you reckon this is going to be like those docks that send you home? Where it stops until you go back? [Because if that's the case he can just go back later when there's more. He doesn't have to leave the hunt at all, as such.
It's more a case of him leading her into telling him what he needs to hear to reenforce his belief and thereby meaning he can find it in himself to leave here for now.]
[Action]
[She can tell Dean is curious. Honestly, Orihime can't blame him for that. If she had to guess, the only reason he's holding back is because he doesn't want to keep her here. He has to know she'll stick with him from this point on until they're both safe and in a stable location.]
Probably not? This sort of thing isn't normal. It's probably just a glitch as the city is finishing straightening things out, so I'm sure it'll be fixed eventually.
[Orihime hitches her shoulders with a smile.]
But I could be wrong!
