The Mechanist
"Oh man... where are we?"
Amelia isn't comfortable with the idea of sending out some public broadcast to tell everyone she'd arrived. Why would anyone do that? She's woken up in some place she didn't know, with instructions to get a job, wear a necklace, and keep a bundle of bills with her. No matter how much money she had stuffed into that leather pack on her belt though, she just didn't feel... comfortable.
She just wished she was at home... Was it even winter back in Forge? She can't remember... her memory is hazy, and it just makes her want to panic all the more. What's worse, she stands out from the general, random Genessia citizen. Be it in the city or any of the sister-cities, it was unlikely one would find a girl dressed like her. The hat she wore was one thing, but the goggles on it makes it look like she's trying too hard to accessorize... But the headgear isn't the worst of it. Her outfit is something of a suit - a full-body, clingy suit of a sort of stretchy, spandex material (of her own design), coupled with a leather vest in which the straps are positioned somewhat... suspiciously for a respectable young lady. She's used to getting a little flak for it, but the looks she was getting...!
Other garments include her gloves, clunky boots, tool belt, and holster (complete with silver barrel-chamber revolver-pistol). She almost looks like she ought to be repairing tanks on-site somewhere. The compass tied to her arm with red fabric is curious as well.
But the strangest thing? The doll she held in her arms.
Or maybe it isn't a doll. Looks more like a small robot, no bigger than a year-old child. Its chassis appeared to be something like brass, but from within its eyes and an opening in its chest, it glowed a vibrant green, radiant with life of a sort. It was indeed very much alive, its unblinking eyes observing every passer-by.
"These buildings look weird, I haven't seen a single soldier..." She hugs the robot to her chest protectively as she examines her surroundings, "This isn't Ironhart. I... I don't even think this is our planet!"

She'd just walked past a person carrying a little robot.
Excited, she pivoted right back around and ran back, spinning in place to walk backwards and make sure that-- Yep, that was a robot! Her face lit right up.
"It's so cute!" she beamed, clapping her hands together. "Where did you find it? Did you make it yourself? It's really amazing!"

Seeing Prihime's interested, and excited expression, Amelia sort of takes a deep breath. "Yeah, I made him myself a long time ago..." She answers, lifting the little robot a little. "His name is Bit."

As for Amelia, Orihime clasped her hands in front of her and bowed deeply. "Inoue Orihime. Ah...Orihime is my given name and Inoue is my family name." Just to make sure she covered both bases, as she had no idea how people were addressed where Amelia was from.
"Hou, it's very impressive! You must be very smart if you can make something like this!"
no subject
Orihime sure is energetic, and really polite. Amelia, being much more lax, and frankly rude most times, was almost embarrassed to be treated that way. "Oh, um, well I'm Amelia Inglebert - 'Amelia' is my given name, and 'Inglebert' is my family name," She says, noticing how Orihime bows, so she returns the gesture with a very out-of-practice bow in return. This girl must have been from the far East - she had a samurai culture in her world, after all.
"Oh, well, yeah," Amelia smiles, but blushes, and shrugs her shoulders, "I... am pretty smart, I admit. Made him when I was eight years old and all that! Heh...!"

It occurred to her that Amelia was definitely new in the city, and looked somewhat out of her element. Maybe she needed some help getting acclimated. If so, she'd run into the right person.
"Do you want to get something to eat, and find a place to live? I've been here for a long time, so I'd like to think I know the city pretty well!" she beamed. "Can I call you Amelia-chan?"
no subject
Okay, it is a huge deal, especially to her. But when someone got that flabbergasted, Amelia tends to get a little uncomfortable.
"I met with someone a little while back that showed me how to get all set up with somewhere to live, but something to eat wouldn't be that bad..." She then stops and tilts her head a little, "And... Amelia-chan? Is that some sort of cultural thing? I've heard of certain places using prefixes or suffixes like that. I guess if that's your thing, then... go for it."
no subject
She glanced around thoughtfully. What would be the best place?
"Well, there's a karaoke club, but it's also kind of a bar, so we'd probably stand out if we went there. There's also a pizzeria that's really good! Do you have a favorite kind of food, Amelia-chan?"
no subject
"BLT sandwiches."
Her response is so quick, so absolute, there is no room for doubt, no second guesses. This girl is a fan of bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes between two slices of bread and normally accompanied by mayonnaise.
That might explain why she can't fit into tight spaces.
no subject
Oh well. She hitched her shoulders with a smile. "Let's try it. If they don't have any, we can just go to the store and get some ingredients to make our own!" As long as Amelia put her own toppings on the sandwich, there wouldn't be any trouble with Orihime's weird tastes.

Re: [Action]
[All the while she continues to hold Bit in her arms, who just stares at Sofia.]
[Action 5ever]
Can I help you?
[Action, yus! 1/2]
SO COOL!
[Amelia's gone now, or at least any semblance of being a regular person vanished like dust in the wind. Now she's doing everything just short of actually touching Sofia to get a good look at that suit.]
A fully functional mechanical exoskeleton! Oooh, obviously made for combat too. Full-body coverage, all armoured plates - it's like BEING a tank! The colour from within implies it's obviously powered by some form of energy... I wonder, is it self-sustaining? That's insane! That's impossible! But... maybe not. Is it Moonstones? No... It can't be, there aren't as many moons here...
[She's at Sofie's left. Then her right. Then in front of her, all while studying the suit and trying to pick up on even its most minute details. But her last quip about moons seems to sink in, and she stops rather suddenly.] Oh, doy! This is no time for--
[2/2]
Sorry, uh... Really, sorry.
no subject
No, you're fine.
[Sofia smiled with her mouth still full, crumpling the paper wrapping from her hotdog and throws it on the recycling bin]
I take it you and that little buddy of yours are new here.
[She leaned forward to get a closer look at Bit while trying to contain a giggle]
It's so cute.
1/3
[Amelia can't help but shuffle in slight embarrassment, her boots making marks in the snow.]
We are. I'm Amelia, and this is Bit.
2/3
[Bit waves his little fingers at Sofie. He's quiet, no mouth or even audio outputs to speak of. Not everybody would find something like him cute, but he's glad Sofie does!]
3/3
[Yup, in weather like this she's really missing that old military coat she kept.]
Re: 3/3
There's a map that should show you clothing stores. But I would suggest saving your money until you find a job.
[Sofia's entire helmet folds itself back into the suit's collar as if it was never even there and freeing Sofia's brown hair]
I could just let you borrow my coat. Finding you a place to live is the first priority.
[She shrugged, then her entire armor pieces disassembled, clicking and revving until they vanished into thin air. Underneath was just Sofia wearing casual clothes, fashionable ones, especially the chic white trench coat]
Re: 3/3
[When Sofia's armor starts to shift away bit by bit, Amelia stares. Her lip kind of quivers as she wants to say something - she wants to ask a million questions and get just as many answers.]
[Focus, Amelia, focus!]
R-Right, I... a job, yeah. I used to work... [No, she should keep a lid on her R&D.] ... I was a mechanic. I don't think things work the same way here though. I can kind of tell, really. Everything I know about machines is... useless here.
[She sighs.] But a house, yeah. Where can I get one? [She blinks.] Wait, am I really going to stay here that long?!

[Sofia puts both her hands on her coat pockets]
There should be some similarities you could find with the technologies of this world and yours, I'm sure of it. There's a city that I frequently visit, it's a very advanced city in terms of technology. You might love it there.
no subject
[After all, she's just going to make a giant mess of it anyway. The Matisse is probably perfect for her.]
Oooh, a whole city of advanced technology? Could I learn things there? Like... robots? Is there anyone around here who knows how to build robots?
Gah, I... I don't know what to do first, but I should go somewhere. I'm freezing!
I want CR with her, btdubs :3c
[Sofia removes her coat and sets it gently on Amelia's shoulders. Underneath where her coat was is a small t-shirt with a cartoon print design. Before another chilly breeze blows against them Sofia activated her suit to warm her up]
I'm sure there's something you could learn in this world, not just in Nova City as that technological metropolis is called. There is one who I exchanged a couple of words with, quite the hammy megalomaniac one, but he claims to be able to build robots. I would advise to avoid him.
Re: I want CR with her, btdubs :3c
Well, alright. S-Shelter first. [Her teeth kind of chatter the whole time.] L-Let's find somewhere simple and inexpensive. [Wrapping Sofia's coat around herself, it was much warmer - the style kind of reminded her of a friend, too. What a nice coat.]
