New Year's Eve Countdown Party

WHO: Captain Hammer and his invited guests (i.e. no villains allowed unless you want to get Hammered)
WHAT: Hammer's rented a glitzy clubhouse for the New Year's Eve party, as a means of cementing the bonds between Genessia's true heroes, sidekicks, and fans. Time to show off those party dresses! There's food, music, and fireworks once the clock strikes twelve.
WHEN: December 31st, 2013 - 8pm and past midnight into January 1st, 2014 (forward-dated)
WHERE: Regency Apartments Clubhouse - Genessia City

If one thing could be said about Captain Hammer, it was that he cleaned up nicely. If two things could be said, it's that he can throw one hell of a party. As a city guardian, he can afford it, and a guardian's job encompasses more than just punching the bad guys in the ego.

Heaps of food, ranging from light vegetable hors d'ouerves to thin slices of expensive cheese and meats to elegantly crafted cream puffs, are arranged on several tables throughout the room. There's more than one punch bowl, though each is clearly labeled as to which ones are for the adults, and which ones are okay for the kiddies.

The middle of the floor is mostly cleared, save for those who have taken the initiative to bust a groove and start dancing to the smooth tunes laid out by the hired DJ.

Captain Hammer expected a decent turnout, and he was sure there would be a fair share of shenanigans if his sidekicks teammates were any indication. He'd posted a number of lookouts around the building to alert him if there were any signs of trouble. So if Hammer was frequently seen excusing himself and returning while brushing off the dirt from his tuxedo, pay him no mind. He was just making sure the party ran smoothly and uninterrupted.

[Marceline's kind of got into the spirit of things, but she too is a little more formal than usual. Scratch that, a lot more formal than usual. Mind you, in Ooo, she was usually the band and that means it didn't really matter what she was wearing.

She spots Jaune at the side, and floats on over. She's got shorts on, mostly because it looked weird with tights, so she's not worried about flying over heads to get to him.] If this party's a bust, I'm heading for Pizza. You in?

[Was that girl... flying? He stares at Marceline as she flies overhead to approach him, touching down like it was no big deal and everything.]

Wait a second... Oh, man! You're that girl from the-- Eh? [Pizza?] ... Y'know, I like the way you think.

[Now normally this would be a stupid question, but in Genessia? It's normal, he figures.] Hey, are you a vampire? Because you totally look like a vampire. I thought you were just one of those dark chicks.

I am. [She chuckles, before pulling him away from the wall and dragging him by the hand towards the dancing area with her feet inches off of the floor. It's a party, and she not singing at this one so you're dancing with her.] You're not going to be lame and make me dance by myself while there's actually a decent beat on, are you? [Cutting off protests.]

You are? [But vampires drink blood! People blood! He's FULL of people blood! Now he's gone and gotten really, really nervous.] W-Wait, I dunno-- Hold-- Just a sec--

[Jauen blushes as he's dragged out to the dance floor and smiles at Marceline.] W-Well, no, I guess... [She just wants to dance, Jaune. You're not going to be a bloodless husk if it's just dancing. He's safe, for now.] O-Okay, a little dance won't hurt. [He looks at the floating feet of Marceline and furrows his brow in a puzzled manner.] Uh... Yeah.

[smelltheredinside]

[She puts her feet on the floor as soon as she's on the dance floor, then she catches where he'd been looking, before picking up the beat and dancing along.]

That's a strange place for you to be looking, you know.

[You should know exactly what look she has on her face]

[Oh he has a fair idea the look she has plastered over her face. What a smug grin. His eyes dart up to her face, and as embarrassed as he is, he's dancing right along with her.]

Well that's a weird floaty thing you do. [What a retort. He wiggles his fingers in a mock mystical gesture, just to convey that he thought it was strange.]

[But you make it so easy, Jaune! She chuckles.] I do it just to look spo~oky. [She does the same wiggly finger gesture.] You totally caught me. [Eyeroll.]

Why walk everywhere? Flying's awesome. [Maybe it's that. Maybe it's for effect. Maybe it's for reasons you won't know. Maybe she doesn't even know.]

[He laughs, though he tries to stifle the laughter behind his hand.] Yeah, okay, if I could fly everywhere I would too.

[Because he's lazy and his feet wouldn't get tired. But hey, walking helps build character, right?]

You know I've never thought vampires would be so cool with hanging out around people.

[She chuckles] With the amount of times I've heard that, I'm kind of surprised you haven't all grabbed the stakes.

[No. Really. You have no idea how many times she's head some variation of the same theme.] But yeah, most don't want to hang around with you morties. I just find you.... interesting. [It's said with a particular emphasis on interesting that makes it sound ambiguous on what she means, to say the least. That look though, that's probably not helping.]

[Jaune looks surprised at her.] Stakes? No! I mean, you're a little... scary, but you're cool! And totally not sucking my blood! So long as we keep that kinda relationship, I'm totally okay with you hanging out as much as you want. All the power to you!

[He holds his hands up in an insistence that he meant no harm.] ... Interesting? You mean me? Or, like, everyone?

[smelltheredinside]

[...Huh. A grin.] Awesome.

[The hands up cause more chuckling though.]

Morties are interesting. And... I wouldn't call you boring, either. [Plus, you kind of remind her of Finn, in ways. Oh, which is a point-] Next time there's a call to action by the boss man? Remind me to pull you out of the filing systems [She's pretty convinced that's all you do, even if it's not. got to be Lame.] and show you the fun part of the job.

[The boss man? Marceline works for Harry? Why didn't he ever know that?] You mean Harry? It's not like I don't get to do anything excited. He and I were tracking down a necromancer a little while back. That was reeeeeally something.

[Necro- Oh. OH. Now she's snickering with a hand over her mouth.]

Mysterious caroling skeletons?

[SHE SOUNDS SO INNOCENT, JAUNE.]

[Jaune blinks a few times.] Uh, no... Were you not here when the big zombie trolls were all over Everglade?

...Nothing~! [Hmmmmmm. Did they do anything about that? Maybe they weren't menacing enough. Well, at least that's always an option for a round two but this time a little less obvious? Or was it just badly timed prank? why didn't it work? it had been perfect? Never mind, just plan something bigger.]

[Jaune recognizes those kind of answers as a thinly masked lie.] Marceline, can you do stuff like... raise skeletons? [Oop, he's catching on now!] You're not a necromancer, you're a vampire... aren't those different things?

Just because I'm a vampire doesn't mean I can't have any say over the dead. Or the undead. I am queen after all. [It has more to do with her demon heritage... but she's not gone into that with anyone here. So.]

Wait, what? You're a Queen? [Man, this chick just keeps getting more and more weird! Or maybe more and more awesome. Jaune is having a really, really hard time deciding that.] You sure don't act like a Queen... i-if you don't mind my saying so, I mean. [He laughs, rubbing the back of his neck somewhat nervously. It's weird when someone is royalty, but doesn't seem to demand the respect and etiquette the usual 'royal' stereotype would.]

... So is there anything else I should know about you while we're at it?

yup. Queen of the vampires. I even got to sit in on those mostly lame meetings for the royalty back on Ooo. I'm just the kind of girl that likes to have fun. Like, you know, most girls like to have fun. Fun fun fun. It's all about the fun. [And she wonders why Finn got all weird over her overusing the word fun that time...]

[She shrugs.] Noooope. [Because she's not going there. It's a land of issues and she has enough with Simon here, tyvm.]
