[ If Ed didn't put "exploring" as a priority over making himself known over the network, he might have made a more dignified first impression. But probably not. ]

Augusta! [ He's really surprised to find a friend in a strange place like this, but he's visibly much less tense - even if he wasn't all that tense in the first place - when he notices who it is, and he laughs a little. ] Seems like it, huh.

'Seems like it' is a pretty mild reaction to being brought to another world.

[ Just saying.... Of course, she commends his ability to keep calm and unbothered. Augusta takes a deep breath and lets it out in what sounds like a long sigh. ]

There isn't anybody else from Rosenstolz with you though or is there?

It's a chance to see something new, isn't it exciting?

[ He wants to see everything, you know. ]

I haven't seen anyone, at least. It was just me where I woke up, and this far you're the only one from ours I've met.

The same goes for me, so it seems that for now we have to assume it's just us...

[ Getting stuck with Ed of all people is definitely not the worst choice the universe could have made, but she can't help second-guess something this lucky. ]

I'm worried about just disappearing from the academy like that though. This isn't exactly a planned vacation.

We'll just have to keep our eyes open then.

[ It's good being stuck in a place like this with Augusta though, right? He's sure it's a good thing. ]

Yeah.. And right after everything just went back to normal, too.

[ There is a brief pause as Augusta tries to puzzle out which events Ed is referring to. Sure, the start of the year and the Strahl secretary exams had been... interesting, but that was mostly a thing between the girls competing. She doubts the Strahl themselves had caught that much wind of the mess. It's certainly not anything requiring this wording. ]

I don't think the secretary exams were that exhausting, so are you referring to something else by chance?

Secretary exams?

[ That's nothing he's familiar with, and he frowns in confusion. ]

I mean when Lui and his family got accused of treason and the king's life was threatened.

[ This pause is no longer brief or subtly or ladylike. This pause is just full on incredulous staring for longer than what's socially acceptable. She's seen Lui like last week and everything was well with him, she is certain. ]

... did you hit your head?

[ Before he gets a chance to answer though, she continues speaking. ]

Pardon me, that was a rude question. In any case, I have no recollection of something like that happening.

[ That's definitely a startling question, and Ed is silent for several long moments. ]

Uh, no.

[ Not that rudeness isn't fine - they're friends and all so he'll easily forgive it. He was just surprised. ]

That's weird, considering it was a pretty big thing. I mean, he had to run away from school grounds and everything, when the military arrived.

Military...?

[ Augusta blinks. She's had her hands full looking after the group of noisy girls that happened to be her best friends at this point, but even keeping an eye on Erika and the others couldn't have distracted her from that. Or rather, if there had been any military, Erika would probably have been the first to get involved, dragging them all in just as well. ]

I know there's unrest in the rest of Europe, but Kuchen has still been very peaceful the last time, has it not?

... Ludwig is alright now though, I hope?

[ In whatever way he was ever in danger...... ]

Yeah, but they were never let in into the dorm.

[ He can't see just how she could have missed something like that. It had been a huge deal. ]

It's been pretty messy lately, actually. But yeah. You know how Lui is, he always finds some sort of solution.

[Even if he had shut them out. The guy tried to do way too much on his own. ]

[ Augusta gives a nod and falls silent for a moment. About Lui... well, it was hard to imagine him being overpowered by trouble in any scenario at least. So in the overall picture that part is less worrisome than the obvious discrepancy in... in what? Memory? Or something even bigger? ]

Yes, he isn't someone who is easy to get down.

So that leaves the other issue... If something major concerning a Strahl had happened I would have been certain to hear of it and I can't explain to myself why that's not the case.

I bet it'd go easier if he only let us help him out.

[ He was about to continue on the track of Ludwig being a stubborn blockhead or something, because it's alright to say things like that when it's Augusta he's talking to. He probably wouldn't call Lui "blockhead" in his face.

But he's distracted because how could Augusta not know this? She's the cleverest girl he knows, she if anyone ought to know. ]

You don't know it? At all? Even the tiniest bit?

[ She shakes her head, obviously bewildered. There had to be anything, anything at all, in her memory to link to those events but she's drawing a blank. It's not like she would even have a choice to hear about the Strahl, Minna and Marie as her instant update system, let alone now that she directly worked with them. ]

No.. it's strange. The last major event I remember is the announcement of Strahl secretary positions.

[ The Strahl has secretaries? He's not sure if the do, but it wouldn't be all weird. He's never heard about them being announced before, though he's pretty sure people in circles close to the Strahl knew. ]

We get to hear about things like that?

[ Obviously, he's not thinking about secretaries for the Strahl candidates. ]

[ He just gets an odd look from her. Obviously it wasn't necessary to say the word 'candidate' because he knows what she's talking about........ right? ]

I've been doing paperwork for you guys ever since, I'd assume you know about that.

[ How underappreciated can one's work be? ]

[ Okay so it's his turn to miss and forget something, then. ]

[ He would never underappreciate Augusta's work, she'd do it much better than him. Which he is very well aware of. ]

[ Duh?? After a moment of incredulous staring, she sighs. This is definitely not right. ]

This isn't working out. We obviously don't remember the same things at all and I can't figure out why... Your name is Eduard Markgraf von Sekt Braunschweig, right? You live in the Bienenstichstraße, but reside in Rosenstolz Academy during the school year. We are in Equestrian Club together. You are a Strahl Candidate together with Ludwig, as we established, your best friend Orpherus, Camus and Naoji.

[ STARTING WITH THE ABSOLUTE BASICS NOW. Can't be too sure at this point. ]

[ Her confirmation of working for them is still as confusing, but she has the right idea. Going through the basics seems like a good idea right now. Trust Augusta to be the reliable level-headed one that comes up with a great idea like that. ]

Yes, [ he nods slowly. ] That's right. And you're Augusta Markgräfin Wolfenbüttel. Right? Because you're not suddenly married and have changed name or something, right? [ Because that would be weird to get used to. Why is he even asking that? ] Your birthday is March the 18th, you like horses just as much as I do, you're not the most lady-like and you're not very good at baking.

[ He's not intending that as insults, it just slips out among basic facts. He likes those things about Augusta, because they're part of who his friend is. And she's the one more fact-based, not him. He's more, feeling and things like that. ]

[ That was by far the worst list ever. Is this how he would introduce her if someone asked for the basics? Quick prayers that it isn't.
For a moment her facial expression slips a bit and she's left staring blankly, unsure if she wants to scold him for this or just laugh about it. At least it is painstakingly accurate and quite familiar - whatever is going on with their memories, they're not strangers. She catches herself a moment later. ]

And of course I'm not married yet! [ Don't remind her of this unavoidable fate, you are the last person she wants to talk to about being married off to someone random. ]

[ No, he wouldn't. It might come up talking about her but it wouldn't be the first thing he'd say. He does have a lot of respect for her, after al. ]

[ If he wasn't oblivious to her feelings for him, he wouldn't have said anything about marriage. ]

[ He laughs cheerfully. ]

Just a week, really... Most of what I've been doing is looking around and figuring out the level of difference from Kuchen as we know it.

[ It was a painfully long week without anybody familiar around. Augusta may sometimes find the liveliness surrounding her to be a nuisance in daily life, but being away from everyone is definitely not preferable - it was a lesson for sure. ]

Not very long, then. But long enough to figure out some things. [ He grins widely. ] It seems really different, though. Isn't it interesting?

[ He has been interested in traveling since before, he wants to see every place their world has to offer, and now he can see a whole other world! ]
