I think I figured everything out. Sort of. I can just talk into this, right? And then everyone else sees or hears it? [ there's a pause where he's not sure what to do after that. is it even working? how would he know? ] It's so weird to talk to people without knowing if you're actually talking to people.

Uh... - I'm Aang! Hi. Weiss said that this was an entirely different world. Thanks for the introduction explain by the way if you can see this! She said different world so I was wondering where everyone else came from to begin with? I only know the one I came from-- Okay, technically two but the Spirit World is interconnected and I can be in both at the same time so I'm not sure if that counts.

Also, how do people go about finding out if anyone they know is here? Or has anyone seen a flying bison around? Do you guys have bear-bears or different kinds of bears? What's a video anyway? Is this a spirit world or a regular world?

I don't know. I never thought anything weird of it until every other archway had similar ones that waxed and waned.

The official word is that we're experiencing an unprecedented era of peace, but there's a reason every kingdom has at least one academy to train hunstman and huntresses. Those outside of the four main kingdoms have a tendency to disappear because of the Grimm. Unlike what I understand of spirits, however, Grimm don't have souls. They kill humans, and that's how it's always been. Then there's a situation with the White Fang which gets.. more complicated.

So the kingdoms are united in their efforts to get rid of the Grimm? If the official word can be believed at all...

It isn't a matter of being the "official word" or not. The kingdoms unite once a year at the Vytal Festival, but the fact is, Grimm kill humans without reason. The don't kill us to eat or for revenge. They just kill us. Which I've seen, since I am a huntress in training. I've killed plenty of Grimm protecting myself and my friends. Humanity was nearly extinct once because of them before we figured out how to fight back. Humans aren't always in the right, but if it comes to surviving or not surviving, we can't leave ourselves unprotected.

You have to do what you must. I hope your kingdoms reach an era of peace where lives aren't threatened soon.

[ not everyone has a third option where a giant lion turtle teaches you how to take the main threat's power away. her world is dealing with actual monsters too. things that just kill for no purpose instead of some deluded quest for power. he doesn't believe killing them back is the way to solve any problem personally but it's not his world and he can't offer her a better solution. ]

How do you know Grimm don't have souls? Where do they come from?

In my world, every living creature has something called an Aura, whether they know how to activate it or not. Humans, Faunus, dogs, cats, fish.. anything living with a soul has one... but not the Grimm. It's hard to even say if they're living creatures at all-- they don't leave behind corpses, they just dissolve shortly after they're killed so we can't even really learn anything about them.

[ It's a tricky business, most of what they learn about the Grimm is how to kill them because there's no way to study the other aspects without getting yourself and possibly killed. ]

To what? They've been around as long as humans have.

I don't know. I mean like scorpion bees. Where there's one big Grimm controlling the rest of them. Only scorpion bees have souls.

The older ones... our teachers say they're smart enough not to attack us because they've been around long enough to know that people overcome. They could kill tons of us without batting an eye but they know eventually they'd end up dead, so they wait until we can't fight back. But the rest act too independently and unorganized to seem like they have a leader.

I can't say I understand then. I've never heard of anything besides people acting like that.

Which is why basically our only choices are to fight them and protect those who can't or die.

Is it easier here?

Most of the time? Yes.

That's good then. You probably deserve a little bit of a break, even if it is because you were kidnapped on another world.

[ Weiss raises an eyebrow. ]

I chose to become a huntress. I'm the heiress of one of the world's largest energy propellent company in my world. I probably could've spent my entire life never seeing a Grimm up close. I have other reasons for wanting to stay in this world, but I definitely don't need a break.

I didn't mean you should slack off or anything. I simply meant it's good not hearing about people getting killed constantly. That can wear anyone down even if they don't realize it.

I'm used to that. Besides, unfortunately there's someone here from our world who's harder to deal with than the Grimm.

Who is it?

A man by the name of Roman Torchwick. The last memories I have from my world are us getting home from capturing him and handing him over to the Atlesian military after he lead a terrorist group known as the White Fang crashing through the wall after baiting hundreds of Grimm into the city of Vale using an old train from an abandoned area of the kingdom that was lost to the Grimm long ago. My team was on the train since we were already trying to hunt the White Fang down, but we couldn't stop him until after the city was partially overrun. It took my team, three other teams, some teachers, and the Atlesian army to kill off the Grimm that had gotten into Vale. And that was just the most recent thing he's done.

At least, he's alone here without the White Fang. Or a bunch of Grimm to release anywhere. He probably can't do anything too bad here. Azula can't even do anything too bad.

Is he at the top of your list?

Well there's.. at least one known member of the White Fang here. And there are Grimm in the Vale archway- I don't think they can get out though. But there are plenty of monsters in Fayren, and plenty of bad people here to team up with. Torchwick was a bad guy before he worked with the White Fang and he's not a weak opponent either.

He's at the top of my personal list, and my team is probably at the top of his. Suffice it to say he knows us by name. There are plenty of other dangerous people to worry about too, like I said, and there's no telling when others will get here.

But in a new place like this everyone is at a disadvantage, right? Doing something would have people from other world's butting in to stop him too. Everyone should be at a standstill with fighting.

How do the archways work, anyway? There's Grimm right there?

Which would be great if being not getting caught wasn't one of his primary skills on most days. [ Team RWBY happens to have a.. very special combination of information that police and the military don't necessarily have access to. ] Especially considering the girl he's with can create illusions, or teleport, or both. [ Weiss still isn't really sure since she only saw it for a few seconds. ] If anything, Ruby or Blake would have more information about fighting Torchwick than I would.

They're essentially duplicates of portions of a person's world. You have to give up something important to open one, like a memory or the ability to eat your favorite food, things like that. The more important it is, the bigger the area you can open. One of my teammates opened an archway to Vale, which is the town near the Academy we attend, so we could restock our ammunition. [ Says the girl with the sword on her hip. ] She never told me what she gave up, but it was enough to open the town and a part of the Forever Fall forest. It's absolutely beautiful and all of the trees have red leaves, but it is infested with Grimm so it's not really a good idea to stray outside of the city limits.

I've never heard of that being done by a person before.

Your teammate gave up something like that for ammunition? That sounds like a completely unfair trade.

[ Weiss tilts her head momentarily, trying to think of how to explain it properly. ]

Huntresses create their own weapons, but to fuel them we need something called Dust. Think of it like bending but from an external source, combined with our auras to allow us to control and utilize it. You wouldn't want to be without your bending any more than I would want to be without Dust.
