You kept fear of death in the back pocket of your jeans...

Who: Weiss Schnee, Roman Torchwick, Blake Belladonna // OPEN After their fight and Blake's death.
What: Roman acquired power from Kefka and puts it to use on the cat that continued messing up his plans in their world.
When: January 27th
Where: Snowy Streets

WARNINGS: Angst, fighting, death, abduction, blood.

Phase 1:The Prelude
[This will be between Weiss and Blake, setting up the stage for Roman to find and attack]

Phase 2: The Battle
[This will be between Weiss, Roman and Blake. Knowing them, this is a pretty loud battle that might draw attention while Weiss will put out a call but disaster will end it. ]

Phase 3: The Aftermath of War
[There's blood everywhere and no sign of anyone but Blake's ribbon and Weiss' phone and silver hair piece laying in the snow. There's clearly the scars of battle on the buildings and around the area; a fatal battle. This is open to tag in to to speculate or have character reactions even if it's just a one comment reaction.]

[ It was snowing, but Weiss wasn't exactly dress too much more than she normally would've been. Still a skirt, though she had a larger jacket on than her bolero, and higher boots to cover more of her legs. Winter was her favorite season and it didn't bother her after her extensive use of ice, which was why she had no problem walking through the lightly falling snow with her teammate on the way to Teanie Teas. ]

Do we need to bring something back for Ruby and Yang? They're home, right?
whiteas: (Attention pls? ok.)

[ Weiss nods in agreement, tugging at a pair of thin but warm gloves on her hands to adjust them. ]

I noticed that too. You and Ruby were a little luckier that it'd been a little while since we'd last seen your... "previous you," so we didn't really have any of your stuff left.

[ And Weiss herself wasn't actually sure how long she'd been gone. She just got pissy about it when someone tried to bring it up, and Yang hadn't really noticed until she specifically mentioned it. It was an odd situation, but she can't imagine how hard it must be to have to deal with it directly. ]

It's probably like waking up in the hospital with amnesia.

[Roman's been biding his time since the tower rose, practicing and testing the limits of his powers. Killing Blake has been along-time fantasy of his, so he's not about to fuck it up by rushing in unprepared. Now the wait is finally over. He's been tailing Weiss and Blake from the icy rooftops. Sure, he could tail them from the ground, but he'd leave footprints in the snow. Besides, he likes heights and the anticipation has him just giddy enough that he can't resist a little calculated risk.

They turned down a smaller side street and he grins. There's a handful of bystanders to terrify but not enough to cause trouble, and the road is narrow enough to limit their mobility. He's not going to get a better chance than this.

He knocks his cane on the roof. Ice crackles as it forms on the eaves. It starts out faint then rises to a roar as a streak of ice races down the side of the building towards the girls. More ice bursts from the ground under them to encase their feet and legs. Technically he didn't have to ice the building, but what fun is a grand entrance if he can't show off a bit?]

Lovely to see you again, ladies!

[He swings down onto the fire escape and starts down the stairs at a leisurely pace.]

It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm starting to think you're avoiding me.

[ Weiss was usually the one spreading the cool chill of ice, but given the snow of the day, by the time she felt the frost pressing the fabric of her boots against her leg, it was too late. They were usually the ones doing the hunting, rather than the other way around, but that didn't mean that their reflexes weren't in tact.

As soon as she heard his voice, Weiss drew Myrtenaster and spun the revolver to the red cartridge with a quick glance to Blake as if to confirm what she was doing so the other girl wasn't startled. Their body language had gotten good enough that she felt comfortable that would be enough. Weiss quickly stabbed the tip of her weapon down into the ice. A small ring of fire erupted at roughly ankle height to melt Roman's ice at least loose enough for them to break it with their legs. She could have melted it all the way, but she didn't want to risk burning Blake by doing so.

When the structure of the ice was broken down enough, Weiss pulled Myrtenaster out of the snow and smoothly transitioned into a backhand spring, the ice shattering from her feet as she used the leverage of her upper body weight on the ground to force herself free from the weakened crystallized water. By the time she was back on her feet, she had Myrtenaster up and ready to fight.

Weiss wasn't much for banter when it came to a fight (more being one to complain to Ruby when things weren't getting done at the speed or efficiency she preferred), so she waited to see what move Blake was going to make before making any of her own besides getting the both of them free. ]

Really? All this time apart, and you've got nothing to say to me?

[Shame. Roman appreciated a little banter. Ah, well-- that look on Blake's face almost made up for it. He'd had to be so damned careful in Genessia, resorting to stealth while he worked his way back up the food chain. It felt good to see his prey face to face again.]

Well, I think we have a lot of catching up to do. I mean, last time we met, I couldn't even do this!

[With a flourish of his hand he sent a plume of fire at Blake. Then he pulled back and lit a cigar from his fingertips. Sure, he'd have to throw it away as soon as Kitty Cat got serious, but surely he got points for style.]
whiteas: (Wait 50 messages?)

y'all keep fighting, i have the thread tracked and I'll jump back in when the time is right!

[personal profile] whiteas 2015-02-04 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ Weiss gave a brief nod at Blake's instruction, but quickly motioned for the glyph that would pull her out of the flame's direction, then another to give her a speed boost. If she wasn't fighting until this problem was solved, she could at least offer Blake some support until she could.

Once she had done everything in the immediate that she could, Weiss quickly positioned herself behind Blake before putting some distance between herself and the others. Far enough that Roman would have to press Blake back to get to her so she hopefully wouldn't be interrupted. Weiss took out her communicator and started pulling up their names for a private message. These things were far less efficient than their scrolls from Remnant, but it wasn't like they really had phone service on those here. ]

[Huh! Blake defending someone. That's new and interesting. Sure, he had seen her fight beside her friends, but never guarding them like this. Whatever Weiss was doing must be important-- which obviously meant he should interrupt.]

You say that like it's a bad thing to be have the upper hand! Sorry to rain on your parade, Kitty Cat--

[He means that literally. He summons a shower of hail above the girls, then sends a jet of flame over their heads to melt it over them.]

--but see, preparation is what separates the amateurs from professionals like me.

[Now that they're sufficiently drenched and standing on soggy ground, he sends a bolt of lightning at them.]
whiteas: (Don't even try mecha in this town.)

[personal profile] whiteas 2015-02-13 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ Weiss had been trying to speak quickly, having only just connected the phone for a brief few seconds before it had happened. ]

Ruby, get Yang, Blake and I need help. Torchwick's here and--

[ There was a clatter as her phone flew out of her hands. Perhaps because it had happened so fast, the couple of seconds that Weiss spent staring at Blake with wide eyes after having been shoved far enough out of the way felt like they lingered on an eternity. The harsh shove that got her out of the way of harm had Weiss in the snow, not having expected an assault from Blake at that time. She stared at the unmoving figure in the snow in front of her as she stood up again, almost staggering as she could barely take her eyes off of her. She could see the last word on her friend's lips, but it didn't register. ]

BLAKE-!

[ Her phone wasn't waterproof. The snow caught it after she practically screamed, cutting the phone call off after her panicked voice rang out.

"Run." That'd been what Blake's final words were. But Weiss wasn't part of a team right now. Roman had taken that away from her, left her alone in the cold snow. She can only be a good teammate if there's a team to be a part of, and right now, grief and anger and a strong lean toward fight over flight rushed over her, almost blinding light as she reached for Myrtenaster in the snow, swinging it around quickly before gliding immediately past Blake and toward Roman.

As much wrath as Weiss could show when she was upset about something, pure rage wasn't her thing during battle. It was emotional, plain to see. She couldn't think enough to strategize, she just wanted Roman not to be able to hurt anyone ever again. It was stupid, childish. but Weiss didn't know what else to do. Running felt wrong even if retreat was the best option, grabbing Blake would slow her down and leave her back open to Torchwick and they'd both end up dead, so unless she wanted to escape without Blake, it wasn't a likely scenario. Weiss wouldn't leave Blake there. Not with Torchwick. The only other option was to kill him, and she fully intended to. She wanted to. ]
maybeitsmaybelline: (Mine is an evil laugh!)

Suddenly, a massive power trip?! Lemme know if he's getting away too easily.

[personal profile] maybeitsmaybelline 2015-02-20 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Blake's death was almost as much of a shock to Roman as it was to Weiss. He had been so fixated on her that he had built her up into this mighty warrior in his head, which was ridiculous.

He started to giggle, but it quickly grew into loud, joyful laughter that shook his whole body. Of course he could take her down! He was Roman Torchwick, and she was just a little girl who had gotten lucky a few times. It seemed silly now, how easily he'd forgotten that. He was powerful and capable and it was a waste of his time to worry over these stupid brats. They had only become such a problem because he'd been walking on eggshells to follow Cinder's plans, staying too cautious to put them in their place. That ended now.

He snapped back to reality as he saw Weiss coming at him. Look at her-- all emotion, no finesse. Pathetic. He waited until the last minute to spin away, ashing his cigar on her shoulder as she passed. Why take her down now when he could savor her defeat instead?
whiteas: (Casting glyphs.)

Roger!

[personal profile] whiteas 2015-02-22 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
The laughter was too much. If there was anything that could upset Weiss more than Blake dying, it was the man giggling over it. Even if she was far too emotional to do this properly, it didn't slow her down. Weiss might not be as fast as her partner, but she wasn't slow either. She had a lot of holes in her defenses, but she wasn't particularly concerned about some stupid cigar ash for once. Normally she would care about getting dirty, but if he was going to take his time with taunts, she was going to full-stop and swing her sword around at him. She barely took a moment to even absorb whether it connected or not before gesturing for a glyph. It was a repulsion glyph, right beneath his feet. If he didn't move fast, he'd be caught up in it and Weiss wasn't going to waste a second charging him it did.

Just noticed I swapped to prose, oops. Welp I'll stand by that.

[personal profile] maybeitsmaybelline 2015-02-26 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Woah!"

He'd been so busy basking in her rage that he'd gotten a little careless himself. He managed to raise his cane and to deflect the worst of the blow, but the snow didn't offer much traction. He stumbled back a few steps before he regained his footing-- just in time to have to flee from the repulsion glyph.

Right then! Less catharsis, more kicking ass. He flipped his cane for a better grip and fired off a shot at the roof, shaking the building and sending a cascade of snow and ice onto the street below. Roman took advantage of the minor avalanche to get behind Weiss, attempting to pull her into a chokehold with his cane against her throat. It was a little more intimate than his usual fighting style, but he would hate to accidentally kill her too.

The shower of snow made it nearly impossible for her to see for a few moments, long enough that by the time she'd managed to get a decent view of where he was again that he was already behind her. Weiss dropped Myrtenaster then, reaching up with both hands to try to push the cane away from her throat before he cut off her air or the bloodflow to her brain or whatever he was trying to do now, but give her position, it was nearly impossible. She wouldn't go down without a fight even if it was.. less graceful than she would've preferred. At this point, she was a little more concerned with not getting killed and instead doing damage to Torchwick instead of ensuring that she maintained the grace of a pretty little princess. She wasn't even sure how much damage it would do, but Weiss put both of her hands on the cane and tried to use it as leverage to swing her head back, hoping to at least clip Torchwick in the throat or chin with her hair piece. Maybe it would give her a chance to put some distance between them. And if not.. well, she could tell she wasn't going to last more than a few more seconds with his cane pressed so tightly against her throat.
