This is ridiculous! Whatever brought us here can't just assume that we'll start a new life in this place, when we have important things to do back home.

[Well, this girl sure sounds annoyed and frustrated. That's the best way to hide the fact, that she's about to freak out, right? Her eyes look worried though. No, really, she should be saving a friend from dying, and not -- sit here, talking to some strange device and be forced to plan how she's going to live here.

Katara's been here for an hour, maybe two, and apparently she hasn't moved much from the place where people wake up. It's more that she sure doesn't want to get far away from the water, but you should know her skills to realize that. Or maybe she's waiting to be magically transported back to her world, who knows.]

[Okay, so maybe Armin's a little too used to explaining things to new Travelers. He answers the video before he quite realizes that there isn't much to explain.

Well, even so...] I get the idea that they don't really care if we had anything important back home.

And... time works differently here. Whoever brought us here can pull us from different times back home. Almost everyone else here from my world was brought from my f-future - but they insist I was never missing back home.

So I k-know it's not a lot of comfort, and it's impossible to know for sure - but the t-time you spend here doesn't necessarily mean you're missing anything back h-home. You could be brought back to exactly the same point that you left.

Lots of people feel this way but there's no way to go back home right now, not that I know of.

[If he did he would be going home himself. Anyway, the blue capped boy tips his hat towards her with a little smile, though cleary uncertain] < / small >

[ in complete contrast to katara, aang just looks like he won the lottery. he threw his hands up and dropped the device even out of excitement. there's a pause - then it gets picked back up. there's a pause and he almost starts explaining things but he realized he knows where she is. everyone arrives there. ]

I'll be right over!

[ aang may look as if he just won the lottery, but zuko looks like someone woke him up this morning by way of ruffling every feather possible. from his point of view, katara still hates him. the last thing she said to him, over half a year ago when he was still residing in their world instead of this one, had been laced with sarcasm and borderline venomous. of course he wouldn't be terribly thrilled to see her, if that's the case. of course he would be groaning on his end before he switches the feed on, because dealing with someone who can't stand him and refuses to see that he's changed and he's sorry is the last thing he needs right now.

but he comes on the line anyway, locking it down tight so azula doesn't see. he could've answered publicly with an affronted waterbender, but having katara actually think he was still the enemy was counterproductive. ]

Looks like Aang's probably already heading your way.

[ lineface. he's fully expecting to be yelled at in three, two, one— ]

[Katara sighs. Yeah, she figured they wouldn't really care even if situations back home are Possible End of the World type bad situations.]

I kind of wonder if we can find them somewhere to make them start caring about our ppinions on it.

[Then again, she's pretty sure people have tried that by now. And something in the way he's talking and about the things he says makes her feel like she could at least try to be nice here. It's not his fault, that they're here.]

That ... sounds impossible, but then again being teleported into a whole different world should be impossible too. But timebending, really? Shouldn't that be impossible? [Sorry, she is really confused.] I'm glad you have friends from home here though.

[He is right, it's not a lot of comfort and well, being impossible to know for sure just makes it worse.]

Well, I better not miss anything back there! [...Sorry, still not your fault, that she's here and she really appreciates the efforts and company, but...] That still sounds crazy, but what about everyone else who is in the same situation? Time just stops there and continues if I ever go back?

[She looks really, really worried. Why is she here, she should be saving a life back home. This is even more confusing than Aang's Spirit World journeys, time doesn't stop back in the material world during those either, so sorry if she's too confused about all of this.]

[Why are there little kids here??!! Okay so Katara is only 14 herself and Aang is 12, like that's any different.]

... Yeah, that's what the lady on the screen said, but I was kind of hoping there'd be one by now.

[ awwww, well she's going to nice to a kid, so no need to be uncertain.]

It's not so cold as my home village, at least. But if you happen to know where I could find something warm to wear, that would be nice.

[Oh for the love of spirits --- She's really shocked to see him, but then again she's also really happy to see him even if this makes no sense at all.]

How? ...The explanation about time differences on the first reply starts making a little sense now, maybe. Katara has too many questions, but if he's coming here, then she sure isn't asking them on this device.]

[Waiting more or less patiently, watching everywhere to see where he'll be coming, yup.]

[ Katara has no idea why you look like that, Zuko, but she looks really shocked to see you. Aang being here was confusing in sort of bad way because he should be fighting agains the Fire Lord and saving the world! Not that she isn't glad to see Aang, she's really happy to see him and you actually, but still. How is their world going to survive if Aang is here?!

But seeing Zuko is another thing. She's been here for a while, freaking out about how she can't be here because she needs to help him back home and -- well, there he is! Looking like -- she's not sure how he looks, except he sure don't look like he just got almost killed.

Okay, give her a moment to just stare while her mind thinks back to the moment of seeing him saving her from that lightning.

[Sorry, were you expecting to get yelled at? Somehow differently?? She looks and sounds really relieved, actually, so have fun with that confusion. But oh no, wait --]

How?? What kind of healer did you --?

[You better have seen a healer, mister! Well, it's not like he'd survive from it without someone with healing powers around, would he?]

[ luckily, she doesn't have to wait for long. true to his word, he does come directly over. aang immediately dropped what he was doing and darted over from the shrine, which isn't too far.

he'll be coming through one of the archways into the cavern, skidding to a stop to avoid crashing into her. his eyes dart over her first to make sure she's okay. no injuries. he hadn't exactly had the chance to talk to anyone besides sokka, toph and suki after certain events. zuko seemed okay. just in case. she's standing? good. perfect. moving on. ]

Katara! You're here! Okay. You're probably super confused right now but I can explain all of it. Most of it. ...Some of it. I can explain stuff at varying degrees of knowledge. Zuko's been here way longer but talking to him's a little tricky right now so I'll do my best. The point is you're here!

[Seriously, she's so glad to see him being okay, that after the confusion she even looks really happy and relieved here. And yes, those are definitely some tears of joy too.

[ toph's face is like a quarter in the frame because stupid device and weiss was right she should be practicing more and also STUPID DEVICE. so katara's view is mostly sky and whatever building is behind toph at the moment. ]

Finally! What took you so long, Katara? Jeez.

[ translation? toph totally missed you and this is the most gracious hello she could come up with. ]

Toph?! [How many people from home are here?]

I didn't know we were gathering here. How long have you been here? Where are you?

We're not gathering. It's a mass kidnapping. [ too many. but the scales are tipping so that's good! ] It's kind of complicated. I didn't even believe most of it at first.

Well, then I guess they were waiting for a bad moment to kidnap me too. [it could be worse, she could be from when Azula hit Aang with that lightning.] I heard about timebending confusions already. I don't ... think I really believe that stuff, at least not yet.

[But it's going to be impossible to not believe it, when people are clearly from different points in time here and when her friends can convince her about it too.]

[ at first, zuko thinks that strange look she's giving him is because of his hair. it's nearly been a year for him. his hair's grown and is almost to the point where it's growing past his shoulders. he scowls at her and reaches back to gather it up and twist it up into something messy and not quite a top knot that he holds in place with pencil he jabs through the center of it. ]

What do you mean I'm okay? I'm fine! [ did she— no, she had no way of knowing that he went up against roman torchwick not too long ago. ] I don't need a healer. I'm fine. Whatever you think I did or went through, it hasn't happened. Not for me. Not yet and maybe not ever. I'm. Fine.

[Nope, she's not paying attention to his hair. Not yet. What do you mean by what does she mean you're okay?? She means she's new here and she's trying to get used to timebending confusions, but it's taking time because it should be impossible. Obviously! But Katara is glad, that he is fine!

I am? No, it's okay. I fought him already. [ casually waving that one off as no big deal. complete with a little shrug ] I rode a giant lion turtle with Momo to where I'd fight him. It was this whole thing.

[ he takes a breath then tilts his head to the side ]

Yeah, time is weird. It's like spending hours in the Spirit World and-- ...I guess you've never been to the Spirit World so that explanation probably doesn't work. It's like a really long dream while you've only been asleep for a few minutes. So you might've just saw Zuko but he's been here for months. Does that make sense? And everyone remembers different things. Zuko doesn't remember the comet coming yet and the last thing Azula remembers is Zuko being on her side still. That's kind of why talking to him in person is tricky.

[ . . . He ... fought him already? Katara's jaw kind of drops.]

You did? How did it go? [Is she shocked? Surprised? Worried? All of them and lots of other feelings too. Like also proud of you, and hoping it went as well as it can go. Giant lion turtle?] I guess that explains why we couldn't find you.

[Katara listens to that. Listening very carefully here. She'd really have to apologize from the first person there, really.]

Well, yeah, I've never been in the Spirit World, but explaining it like that -- I guess it makes as much sense as it can make here. [Katara tilts her head. Zuko doesn't remember the comet coming? Oh gre-- Wait, what? Why is he mentioning her?

... You know, so far it's been fun to see people from home, but hearing that Azula is here makes her kind of nervous because things that just happened back home and what's even about to happen there. Aaaand it doesn't help that Azula's from that time.]

Azula is here?! [and just to be clear with what she remembers!] ...The last thing I remember from home is Zuko diving to save me from her lightning, or well me trying to run to help him right after it, but she stopped me with bending... And then I was here.

[ ...since when did katara consider him one of her best friends? if he's understanding her right. she's not making much sense, but nobody really made any sense when they first got here. it seemed rare that people from the same world would arrive from the same points in time. genessia seemed to favor mixing it up and going for the most confusing point possible. ]

Look, I'm fine. I don't know what happened or is supposed to happen, but it hasn't. Not for me. You're probably from father along or some weird alternate universe where you don't hate my guts.

[ zuko lifts up the hand he's not holding the device with so she can see. ] So unless you're talking about this, which I got months ago? [ red, snake-like scarring wraps around his wrist and palm, remnants of lucifer's attack on genessia city. ] I'm fine.

There's plenty of little shops if you go into town. And the money in your welcome packet is enough to let you get a warm coat as part of getting settled.

[He pauses, and then adds:] some people have friends from home here... if you ask around people might know.

[Ouch, being reminded that she used to hate him until recently-ish is not nice at this point. She doesn't hate him anymore, but he seems to think so for some reason. Well, the reason being that the things, that change it haven't happened to him... Katara reaches out to her necklace and sighs.]

It's not an alternate universe. Some things happened and I forgave you, then even more things happened. All of them weren't bad things. [...but let's not go into details unless he really asks for them, though... ...pause.] Then you did something really stupid right before I showed up in this place... So I'm honestly glad you're fine. And you'll be fine back home too, I just don't know how things go from where I got here.

[Because she's not going to let anything worse happen to him. She's had enough of Azula's lightning hurting her friends. Katara looks at those scarrings. ...she almost winces.]

Yeah, no. I wouldn't know anything about those. You've really been here for months?

[Frowning a bit!] Me of all people? [What's that supposed to even mean?] Fine, I believe that you're fine. It's really great to see you.

[Look, Zuko, you probably really don't even understand how great it is for her to see that you're fine after what just happened back home.]

[ he doesn't echo the sentiment. it's weird to see her more than anything else. awkward. aang mentioned the comet (and zuko shut down any further talk of what happened during/after it) and ty lee apparently teamed up with mai to help him escape after he somehow landed himself in prison, but having katara treat him with the same sort of kindness he saw in her while they were trapped together beneath ba sing se is somehow more unsettling.

zuko has no idea what to do with what feels like a free pass. she forgives him, and he didn't do a thing to earn it. ]

Seven, going on eight. It was just me and Azula for the longest time, and now it seems like everyone's trickling in.

[ might as well steer the conversation towards needing to talk about his sister, since that's something that needs to be addressed above all else. ]

It... would probably help if we had any clues to who they are. I haven't had much of a chance to investigate yet, I'm afraid - I only arrived here about a week ago myself.

[But rest assured, he does intend to investigate - after he's recovered from being killed, and gotten a job so he's not a burden on Eren and Mikasa.]

I've seen a lot of things I had thought were impossible. [Oh, geez - how best to explain this?] Well... that's not quite it. I mean, I've heard some people say that time just stops, but I don't think that's the whole picture.

When we were brought here, we were brought from different points in time as well as different places. The only way that makes sense to me is if time here has nothing to do with time in our home worlds - that when you travel between worlds, you inherently travel to a specific time as well as place. Without that travel, the worlds are completely self-contained - including their entire pasts and futures.

[Armin pauses, biting his lip uncertainly.]

I'm s-sorry, I'm not doing a very good job of explaining...
