[ Marco takes a deep breath as he's shown sitting at a desk with the video right in front of him. his eyes are closed but he's not in his uniform from home anymore. he's in a slightly oldish looking suit. it still looks nice on him, but it's obvious that it's not brand spanking new. he opens his eyes a moment later and gives a nervous smile ]

I'm going to an interview for my first job today. I'm a little nervous, so I wanted to know if anyone had any advice to give me to make a good impression.

I've only had one job before...at home. And it wasn't anything that great but it was something at least! [ listen to him being all humble about being in charge of a group to fight titans - STOP IT, MARCO ]

Oh and this is Marco if you didn't recognize me from behind. [ he gives a small wave ]

Miss Schnee, I saw that you had an opening for a position at your company. I was wondering if you would consider me for an interview. I know that you are probably busy but any chance you give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Jean, I haven't talked to you lately. I'm going to go get a job soon so that I can leave

I mean

I'm going to be getting a job to pay Mikasa back and to get my own place. I don't want to mooch off of her and Eren forever.

I know you don't want to stay at the inn forever. And I'm going to be working a lot. So I left you my key underneath a potted plant near the door to the apartment. You know you can stay whenever.

Anyway, I guess I'll see you around. Hope you're doing okay.

If you're up for it, then sure. [ he gives a nod, smiling lightly ]

[He looks back up slowly, forcing a smile that doesn't quite fit right but hopefully is convincing enough.] Sure. We could both use the fresh air.

[ Marco looked away when he smiled. he knew there was still something going on... whether it was still involving him or not, he didn't know. but he could tell that Jean's smile wasn't sincere. it might have fooled others...but being around Jean for so long, Marco could really tell. he reached over to a chair, pulling on his trainee jacket before heading to the door ] Do you know where we're going?

[He nods, following Marco. He's sure Marco sees right through him, but he didn't push it, so he's fine with leaving it at that. He hates keeping secrets, and he's pretty certain Marco knows that about him, but it's the only choice he has. At least he's doing a better job of keeping his emotions in check.]

We'll have to head back to the main city, but it shouldn't take too long.

Do you have your gear handy? Maybe I could borrow Mikasa's while she's at work. We could get over there fast.

I wasn't fortunate enough to be pulled out of what I was doing with my gear on hand.

We can take turns. [He's kidding. Mostly.]

Yeah, I wasn't either-- [ he blinked and then reached to scratch the back of his head ]

I don't think that would work very well...

It would have been useful.

No, maybe not. Let's just walk. I don't mind if you don't.

It won't take that long, we both have long legs anyway. [ he grabbed his keys for the apartment, stuffing them in his pocket and then heading to the door ]

I think mine are longer. [He follows Marco outside.]

I think you've forgotten who's taller... [ he can't help but laugh afterwards ]

Give me another year and I'll tower above all of you. [He smirked, tilting his head back to admire the sky.]

I don't think so. I'm taller than you now so I'll still be taller next year.

I could still get a growth spurt, you know. I've already had one.

I think the only way you could get taller than me is if you became a titan. [ he started to laugh ] Even then, I think your head would be bigger than your body.

[Narrows his eyes, raising one eyebrow.] You've put a lot of thought into this. How long have you been trying to imagine me as a titan?

I've only thought about it once. Your ego might explode and make your head huge. [ he nudged the other. noticing his expression, he went quiet and looked down. that was probably horrible to say. he knew it. even if they were in a place like this, the memories of everyone lost were still there. but what other way could they get over what the Titans had done...? ]

...I'm sorry.

[He just. Stares at him incredulously. He's not even paying that much attention to how troubled he looks. Or he is--he just doesn't care.

His shoulders quake, before he bursts into a harsh laughter. There are tears streaming down his face, his breathing ragged, when he calms down. He loops an arm around Marco's shoulders, still trying to find his voice.]

...Shit, Marco. Did you lose it?

[ Marco smiled, moving a hand through his hair as he brought his head up. he was worried he would be angry about it! but it was the opposite. it was almost like home... but safer. he moved his arm underneath the other's to set his hand on his shoulder ]

It might've been from stress.

[He smiled fondly, feeling a little--a lot better than before...but his amusement died, replaced by seriousness.]

You shouldn't let yourself get too stressed.

Ah, well, I know. I guess I'm just used to being under stressful situations because of how things were behind the walls. I don't even realize that I'm stressed until someone points it out.

But it's okay! I'm not stressed now! I'm actually...happy. And I'm happy that you're happy. [ he gives a nod, smiling ]

It's habit by now to ignore our own stress, or even see it as normal. I'm not used to...not being stressed either.

[Is he happy? He supposes he's not unhappy. But he waves his hand dismissively because no way is he acting like a dork. Marco might be able to get away with it, but he settles for the feeling of contentment that he keeps to himself.] Same.

It's still strange not to be worried or anything about what used to be going on... I wonder how long it will take to get used to everything here. Mikasa seems well adjusted at least.

Mikasa's had a lot longer, and was more isolated than the rest of us. [He doesn't consider he'll ever get used to being here. But he could get used to some things.] I'm sure you'll adjust fine.

Don't act like you won't. [ he laughs ]
