1st Headline: The Tengu of the Mountain Appears! [Video]

[The view from the videophone snaps to attention gazing at the bright eyes of a young woman with messy brown hair and an odd red hat on her head. She's staring at the lens on the device curiously as she sat on the edge of the silver boat, a notebook and pen in hand.]

Hmm...so this is that video-camera thing like Nitori had talked about? Looks a lot more complex than even my camera. Anyone out there?

[She's scribbling on her notebook as she looks around the Bay area, taking note of the hologram recording with quite the interest as she walks around, her odd geta clacking noisily on the ground.]

I wonder if this is like a teleportation device?

[She sticks her hand through the center of the hologram, fingers going right through the center of the white haired girl's neck as easily as nothing being there, drawing a frown from the winged girl.]

Perhaps not...Kind of feels like an illusion.

[Making her way back towards the device currently recording her, she picks it up to stare quite closely at the device.]

So....anyone out there? I wonder if there's a need for the Bunbunmaru news here...

Yes, we're out here, what did you want?

Oh? That's nifty. Well I'm just wondering if anyone needs the Bunbunmaru newspaper. ...Or barring that, anything interesting going on around here? I mean, being kidnapped is one thing, but I can't exactly sell a story that's commonplace already.

There's already a newspaper, but there's nothing to stop you from competing with it. Other than what's going on with myself...I hear there are dragons in Fayren. It's common knowledge, but if you're a serious reporter, why not go there yourself and get an up-close account of their fury?

Ayayaya...trying to set yourself up for a tengu fry? Sorry, but this lady is not on the menu. A dragon would be interesting to interview, but a bit...well...I've seen dragons in my world too. Some are pretty good...others...well...she tries.

I'm fully adverse to avian cruelty, so the thought never occurred to me. But I've never met a real-life tengu before. From which mountain are you from?

If we're going by myths, I'm sure these dragons are nothing like the ones you know back home. But if you're used to them, it probably isn't that interesting a story.

Bunbun...maru? That's quite a mouthful.

[Aya holds up her notebook to the video camera...thing. The lens so people can see it.]

Yes! My Bunbunmaru, the newspaper I run that's spread Gensokyo-wide full of information and important events. Would you care to have an interview? I bet we could establish an...interesting scoop out of interesting people.

[She gives a slight nod. Well... it's not like it'd do any harm, right?]

Of course, I won't mind answering a few questions.

[Aya grins at the phone-camera thing as she pulls out her pen and opens that notebook, jotting down a few things as she sets the phone down somewhere propped up.]

Great! That'll make things easy! So...to start with. Uh...Just who are you and where were you from? You don't seem to be one of those NPC types that the whitehaired girl mentioned so you'd have to have come from somewhere, right?

I'm Professor Glynda Goodwitch and I originally come from Vale. I was working as a teacher at Beacon Academy for many years before I was taken here. Said girl you're talking about was one of my students there. [She might sound a little proud of that.]

Hmm..mm... So teacher from a vale of sorts... What kind of academy is this Beacon? From the looks of your student, it seems to be perhaps a business school? Or maybe one of those private schools I've heard about? [More scratching is accompanied with the questions as she writes down Glynda's responses, hands twitching towards her camera before stopping. It was a bit silly to try and take a picture of something through another picture.]

It's a private school for training warriors--Miss Schnee comes from a more buisiness oriented family, however.

A school for training warriors huh? Some kind of army perhaps?

[More jotting down notes interspersed with slight mutterings of "possible army conquest..." and "conformation of warriors under strict control..."]

So...what do you need a training school like that for?

An army to defend humanity, perhaps.

[A shrug.]

There are creatures known as Grimm, monstrous things that feed off negative emotions. They are natural enemies for humanity and Beacon is one of many schools that train new warriors to keep the threat to a manageable level.

Aha...to defend humanity? From a thing called Grimm? Sounds rather...grim if you ask me. [She smiles cheekily at her own pun.]

Well at least you don't really have to worry about them here right? Though I don't know what you'd do since there's no reason to teach them fighting now.

... Indeed. [Nooot going to bother trying to say anything on that.]

I do teach martial training here as well.

Oh? I suppose that's a good skill to develop then. Training up people to protect themselves from others. Though a good danmaku barrage always does well against small fry and the like.

[Not like anyone but those from her world know what danmaku is. But that's beside the point.]

Do you perhaps also teach the art of escape? Not every fight should be fought, and not every battle can be won, after all.

Sakuya looked up from her cleaning as her phone beeped. Ugh, another video broadcast. Did everyone have to make these damn things constantly? She just wanted to work in peace! Then again, it could be something important... Dammit... Reluctantly she pulled out her phone, tapping it, pausing...

No... No no no nooooooooooo no...

In an instant the maid set her dust rag aside, vanishing from the halls of Castlevania, flickering across Genessia City to The Bay. Aya would feel a familiar chilling wave of power as the silver haired maid appeared, eyes wide.

"Shameimaru!" She sounded a bit more surprised than she probably intended to, her elegant mask cracking a little. "You too?"

The sudden shimmer of power would be met with the tengu turning quickly to face the sudden arrival of a familiar silver-haired maid.

"Oh? You're here too, Sakuya?" she asks in surprise, staring at the familiar maid of the scarlet devil. Aya slowly walks around Sakuya as she inspects the maid, making sure it's not some illusion or some sort. With incidents like she's seen, who knows what kind of thing could happen or be a reason? A gap's doing? Shady drugs? A conspiracy?

A brief wave of the videophone in her hands has Aya shrugging her shoulders and looking back over at the hologram of the other whitehaired girl. "So...you know what's going on at all? She gave a bare hint, but...I dunno. I smell something interesting."

A second look back between Sakuya and the hologram has the tengu pointing the still taping videophone at both. "So...Uh...Is it just me, or do you humans with white hair tend to be...less...er...physically gifted?" she asks, eyes staring slightly at Sakuya's chest.

The maid was indeed very real, her body quite solid, unlike the hologram. It wasn't the kind of incident that could be so easily fit into a template. Such simple answers are forbidden.

"I am here, yes. As are the two mind reading youkai from the underground, the shape-changing tanuki, and My Lady." She counted each on her finger as she listed them. "Not to mention there are a multitude of others who take up residence here. Just be sure to keep your necklace with you as well as your phone. You'll need them."

"As for what's going on..." A deep sigh. "I've been here for months and have discovered nothing. And no one else seems to know what's going on either." She folded her hands over her apron. "It's worrying."

The maid's only physical reaction to the tengu's final comment was a small twitch of her eyebrow. "... My natural hair color is black. Darker than yours, in fact. My abilities have had strange effects on my physical appearance..." Carefully dodging the question...

Aya laughs a bit as she gets a slight rise out of the ever-graceful maid in front of her. "Ahaha...effects on physical appearance due to gaining white hair is still effects of having white hair, Sakuya." she replied cheekily, wings fluttering lightly behind her as she looks over the necklace.

Putting the jewlery around her neck, the tengu slips her notebook away into her pouch as she looks around the Bay a bit. "So...what now? Just figure out a way of life? I could certainly try starting up the Bunbunmaru again."

Sakuya huffs lightly but doesn't bother complaining more. She didn't want to encourage the tengu or she would never hear the end of it. Besides it wasn't exactly the most important thing at the moment.

"That is what My Lady and I have done. We have taken residence in the castle of another vampire who so graciously decided to share with us. I have been working for some extra money and we are getting by quite well."

"As for the Bunbunmaru..." She paused to think. "The only thing I know about the newspaper is one comes around every Sunday. The method of delivery seems keen on tying them to rocks and throwing them through windows. I would check the welcome center and, failing to find out more there, confront the paperboy directly. Very few residents are fond of him and would probably appreciate a change."

Aya still kept her cheeky grin, but didn't say anything more on the subject. She knew not to poke a sleeping lion.

...Especially when said lion had sharp daggers and time stop capabilities.

"Another vampire you say? This place must draw all sorts of people." the tengu murmured loudly. "Is she anything like Remilia or Flandre? Or should I expect something different if I decide to drop by for a...visit." Of course she couldn't exactly just drop by through an archway, but the idea still remained at meeting the new vampire on the block....or old vampire if Remilia appeared later.

The mention of a vandalizing paperboy put a thoughtful look on Aya's face. "Hmm...using rocks to deliver the news....It would mean I don't have to get close enough to those who...protest my writing." She cuts herself off while muttering a few words which sound suspiciously like "ingrates" and "fairies for brains". She still doesn't know where to go for such a thing. Or...

"...Where do I even find a place to stay, Sakuya? Like...I know they gave me money, but how much exactly is this for a place?"

"Indeed though I dare not say too much as the details of his life are not mine to tell. Lord Tepes is offering shelter to non-humans though I suppose my status as My Lady's servant has made me an exception to this rule." She held up her own communication device. "I can provide you with his contact information should you wish to speak with him."

"And please do not use rocks to deliver the news. No one here appreciates it."

At the tengu's last question the maid shifted a bit, pursing her lips. "I was given a key and an address with my envelope. It belonged to a small apartment which had a single month's rent paid. The money would have been enough for food and mild entertainment for a month's time. If you do not have a key in yours I'm sure you could ask around and find a place to stay. As previously mentioned, Lord Tepes offers shelter to non humans but I don't think you would be comfortable in a home full of hostile beasts. If you locate one of the Komeiji sisters they may allow you passage into their sub-archway, though without the hell-crow I doubt old hell will be very warm."

Aya shrugs to herself. Details of the mysterious vampire man could always be gotten by herself anyway. Second-hand sources weren't always the most reliable to use, even if it did come from one as elegant as the maid before her. Holding up her own phone, the tengu looks quizzically at both phones. "And....how do you do that exactly? There's no instructions for this thing." Perhaps that would be something the other white haired girl could figure out.

The rocks thing was always a joke. She'd get a lot more angry people after her for that after all. Bad enough some people had less...refined tastes to understand her newspaper.

Blinking, Aya looked closer into the envelope of money and sure enough a key and address were inside it as well. "So there is...That's convenient enough." Even if it was only valid for a month, that'd get her enough time to (hopefully) set up her Bunbunmaru again! ...Now if only to figure out how much to charge for that.

"Ehh...Not too sure I'd want to deal with hostile beasts often...unless the castle has very...spacious hallways?" Ah yes, the wishes of the tengu to fly free beneath an open sky. It's the reason she wouldn't want to impose on the Komeiji sisters. The Underground was exactly that after all. Underground.

Sakuya sighed heavily, moving in next to the Tengu and withdrawing her own phone. "Here, I will teach you. It took some fiddling with on my own device to learn it. The screen is a window that responds to your touch like buttons behind glass. It need not even be a hard touch." She began walking Aya through various steps, teaching her to input information, answer calls, and other such things.

"There are also other functions I've heard about such as a camera and recording device but I have not taken time to learn how they work. I have been assured that it does not use any kind of film either so how one would retrieve these thins is a mystery to me."

She tucked her own device away after sharing her information with the tengu. As much as she disliked Aya's nosiness, having someone she at least knew personally was valuable.

Well, someone who wasn't one of the elusive Komeiji sisters or that irritating tanuki anyway. Aya, at the very least, talked straight.

"There is a lot of space in the castle and the realm extends to its exterior as well. There is plenty of room to fly. And even if there was not, you would not have any trouble dealing with the creatures there. They are merely irritating." It was only recently that many of them stopped regarding Sakuya as a free meal ticket... "Regardless, you will have to take up the arrangements with Lord Tepes himself. He is a gracious host though. I do not think he will deny you. And it will be nice to have a familiar face around."

A pause. "However, if you choose to live there be warned that I will stuff and roast you should I discover that you've been rifling through my own or Milady's belongings. The danmaku rules do not apply here."

Aya is quick to pick up on how to work the phone basics. Sure it's technology outside her usual domain, but what's living for centuries if one doesn't understand things quickly?

"Hmm..I don't think I'd need a camera from it as I still have my own." And indeed she quickly shows Sakuya the signature SLR that's her pride and joy before putting it away just as fast. "I'll stick with my camera for now. Good back up in this I guess though."

Hmm...castle space and lots of little annoyances..."Eh...We'll see about the castle. I don't think I'd want to have to break every little thing that decides it wants to eat a crow."

Aya grinned cheekily at the maid. "Do I look like I'd be the type to go rifling through things like that?" She could probably trick some demon denizen of Castlevania to do that for her. The lack of danmaku rules gave her a small pause though. "...There's no danmaku rules? Does that mean we don't do danmaku anymore?" Well...to be fair most people couldn't do danmaku in this world so it makes sense. "...Does that mean humans are on the menu for youkai again?"

That's called a hologram. It has nothing to do with teleportation.

A...Hologram? So it's not an illusion then?

It's based on a person who is very much like us. Brought here without warning and dumped here, They thought that by using that it would help new arrivals a little bit.

I believe they are the owner of the welcome center to if you head there. But don't you think a hologram is cool?

I figured as much since she did say she was from another world too. Nice of her to try and help out though. Good girl.

The welcome center huh? Might be a place to check out then. A moving, speaking picture of someone is pretty cool, but then so is this phone!

It's the best place to check when one first arrives. Although it wasn't here when I first arrived, so it's something that hasn't been here long.

Sadly it is not an illusion, this is real.

Hmm? Oh I could just drop by and pick it up if you like. Gives me an opportunity to maybe figure out this necklace and how it works passing through archways.

[That's always an interesting thought. How exactly does one pass through the archway? Is it like traveling through an open door? Or would it be more like...phasing into existence on the other side?]

Hmm...I suppose it would be. Would you maybe be interested in helping out? I could always use people to help find interesting scoops for the papers.

You could always give me a hand in figuring out where everyone is once the papers get started up. It...might take a bit to get everything set up again, but once it is, I'd be willing to have you work for me. ...You can take pictures with these phone things right?

[She nods slightly.]

I believe so, but it's better to just buy a camera for that type of thing. But I can help with that if you'd like. [This is her way of pretty much offering to help.]

I've got a camera right here. I meant more for you though, since I'm not going to let anyone touch this one. It's...a personal thing.

Still...if you know of a good camera shop that might be a nice place to visit. I have to get my film somehow.

I guess I can take a look at some stores and see if I can find one. I'll let you know when I do.
