But while other people burned hot and went straight for their weapons, Bridget did the exact opposite. She turned into a cold, manageable fury that still allowed her to think and analyze. She watched the video multiple times at different speeds and examined every response with the same care. Everything down to the way the wall is constructed, the kind of lightbulb used, the way sounds echoed. And she was already planning her next ten moves.

Was she going to give this one the reward of responding? No, that's exactly what he wanted. He wanted to rock the boat and see people panic and flail. It was time she took some wind out of the sail before he managed to crash the boat on the rocks nobody was watching for.]

I'm sure you saw the little challenge just now, or will in the near future. Some will be afraid, some will panic, some will probably start forming a mob. I don't really care that much, that's your job to deal with. However, if you Guardians can manage to pin down the gates and keep the chaos down with official searches, I can find this one and his boss within the next two or three days. From what I've discovered, their world doesn't have any experience with magic or telepathy. I'll need permission to search your city completely though, I do actually have morals and a code to live by.

I have a feeling that Nova might be a probable base for this group given what I've seen and researched. I was worried you might not trust me enough just yet... As your very talented and helpful friend has assumed, it is a mental search I'm about to undertake. Nova was the most likely base followed by Genessia, Everglade, Attleton, and then Fayren.

[A slight pause to drink a little tea. Because TEA.]

Even if the residents aren't usually linked on these vidphones like the rest of us transplants, rumors spread quickly when they start followed by negative association. Your name is Koishi, correct? I would certainly appreciate the assistance even before arriving. [Another strained, but hardly forced smile that eventually fades.] As Satsuki already knows, I'm not free to move during daylight quite yet. I'll be doing scans in Everglade until the sun is down at least.

Especially considering that she, indeed, will need to work out a plan of 'damage control' with the other Guardians.

Very well; that is an acceptable offer but it would be best to make certain your skills would not be put to better use in the neighboring cities.. I suspect Genessia City may be the biggest problem as it is likely the most populated by denizens.

But that's the other reason why I'm requesting assistance from the five Guardians. They have the ability to actively monitor the gates between themselves and their assistants. Even if that thing does manage to slip through a gate it would only serve to narrow down his location for me. I don't intend on catching him quickly for instant gratification. I want to find the whole diseased hive. I have no doubt that he isn't acting alone. All it would take is one meeting in person and I could follow him anywhere.

I suppose that depends on which era you're in. But yes, I know over thirty languages from Earth and French is one of them. [A slight pause} Something like that, though a little less in depth. If I read every mind I came across I would be slogging through sex-oriented mud for the rest of my life. It would be like trying to read the first sentence of every paragraph in every book in a national library. I section off various areas depending on certain factors and then use two or three key words to scan all of the minds within that area using five minute blocks of time. In a city where most people sleep at night and local transportation isn't usually swift, like Attleton, a full sweep would only take a few hours. Nova, Genessia, and Everglade will take a bit more time. Actually, Nova and Genessia will probably be repeat overnight scans for the next week or two.

[ooc: I got about half way and then did google with a proof-reading for coherency/verb tense! Though I do allow myself to cheat due to the fact that my last 'real' French was 14 years ago.]

I learnt French some time ago, I thought it pleasing to the ear, you see. I had some spare time for reading as an Overlord as well. 30 languages is certainly an impressive achievement, something even I am not even sure I could achieve.

Mm, oui, I imagine that would take some time to read all of them in detail... and a brief scan would be useful for an initial search. If we can at least pin him down to one city then we can block off the archways and keep him cornered.

Still, if I might ask, what made you choose to offer your assistance to us like this?

I've done a lot of traveling over the centuries so many of them I just picked up over time. There are many I don't consider myself fluent in but I could at least get by.

I suppose it is quite strange for me to do so. Especially after so long... I don't generally involve myself in human issues that don't directly involve me. This time though, there are three main reasons. A couple in my species is lucky to have one child in a thousand years so children are very precious and loved. I find torture and murder simply for entertainment to be barbaric and the result of a sickened mind. Finally, I have never been one to make friends with ease. That THING tortured and killed a child who might have seen me as a potential friend.

Honestly, Mercury's actions were aberrant. As a father myself, seeing a child hurt in that way sickens me as well. The sooner we can deal with the man who did this and prevent him harming anyone else, all the better in my mind.

We call ourselves Bloodline but we've been called vampires as well. No loss of soul or blood-sucking though, thankfully. We do have a few rather useful talents for situations like this. It's fun to watch when a nasty brat finally realizes I could actually make them revert to acting like a sleepy three-year old any time they consider stepping out of line.
