Dritter Eintrag - [Video]

[ When the video flickers to life, Augusta appears on the screen, her hand pressed against her forehead as if to nurse a migraine. ]

I used to think it was troublesome when people misplace their personal belongings consistently, but this is on another level.

In the three months that I've been here we managed to misplace more than one entire location.

[ First Attleton Maze and now the Bay, come on... ]

I can't say Nova City seems like an improved place for the Bay either. Considering the load of technology there, it might easily give people from less advanced worlds a heart attack.

Overall, I'm really starting to worry about how unstable everything about this place seems.

[ She lives with two men, there is nothing to lose anymore. Plus, dad isn't here. Dad will never know and neither will her brother or anyone. Sometimes that's almost a bit liberating. ]

Both of them are aristocrats from my homeworld.

One of them is an easy-going but reliable young man who's usually giving his best for people. We've known each other from horseback riding. [ Said kind of fondly, really. ] The other is... [ There's a brief moment of hesitation as she muses how to make Lui sound not scary, but then she decides there is no use. Mikoto would be scared of him, no matter what she says. ] a strict nobleman who's very determined and confident. He seems cold normally.

[He can't even begin to compete with aristocrats, let alone one who's naturally intimidating.]

What a pain. We should stick to my place. [Aka he's scared of the descriptions she just gave him.]

[ She'd been pretty much convinced he would say this anyway. There's nothing but a small shrug as visible reaction. ]

I'll pick you up from work then, just give me the address and a time that's fitting.

It's Aphrodite's Love Matching & Arcade! My shift ends at seven. You can always come by sooner, I know you must yearn to see me once again.

[He flushes from what he just blurted out.] Anyway here'stheaddress! [He sends her the address seconds later.]

[ One day Augusta will have to ask him about the seemingly compulsive habit to blurt out flirting that's inevitably going to be dismissed and ignored. One day. ]

I've never been to the Arcade before, so I'll aim to come by around 6:30 and look around for a bit while you finish up.

[Even he's not fully sure why he does it.]

If you want an expert to show you how to do a few things, just find me and I'll make an exception to my rule for you.

[ That gets a smile out of her. ]

Yeah. Don't freak out about it...

[He grumbles. Not like he's eager to show off.]

[ Did you really think you could get more excitement than that smile out of this lady? Think again. ]

[ And with that she cuts off the feed, because what's the use in video calls when you have an evening to talk in person. ]

[He's grateful when she cuts off the feed because it gives him a moment to run to the bathroom and talk to the mirror and walls about his feelings, seeing as he can't do his bathroom talk with his friends at the moment. He makes sure his appearance is good enough to create the sense of flowers blooming around him, and steps out of the bathroom to go and stand by one of the games and pretend he was there the whole time.]

[ The arcade is not really the weirdest thing Augusta has ever seen - especially not in Nova City - but it's certainly foreign area to her. Games? What are games?

The moment she steps into the shop itself and looks around cautiously, the fish-out-of-water feeling is apparent in her body language, but it settles quickly. She can't deny she is a little curious - it's a good thing Mikoto is here to introduce her to the more modern aspects of life or she'd take a lot longer.

Now more determined, she spots him and walks towards him. ]

[He notices Augusta the moment she enters the arcade. It's clear she looks out of place at first. It's an expression he recognizes all too well. He feels like he wears it even when he's in somewhere familiar. But she adjusts well enough, something he almost envies, and he steps away from the game to approach her.]

You're lucky I'm the one working here today. I'm an expert at these kind of things--not because I play them or anything! [He tenses up, starting to get embarrassed over nothing.] I'm just a natural! I'm naturally gifted!

[ 'Well, I wouldn't be here if you weren't working at this place so your point is kind of moot' is what Augusta thinks to herself but holds back on saying out loud. It might just be because there's another comment that seems to be more pressing. ]

How did you find out you're a natural talent when you don't really play?

[ She probably shouldn't be expecting a reasonable answer, but the curiosity here is genuine. ]

[It's a valid question, and one Mikoshiba is totally unprepared for. He's left searching for some kind of response, trying not to look as lost as he feels.]

A friend asked me to help them once...and I did. That's how I found out...

[It sounds weak, even to him, which leads him to blushing (embarrassing him even more) and frantically pointing at one of the machines.]

Let's try this one! It's not too hard for a beginner and you might like it.

[ Mikoshiba's in luck, Augusta's attention is easily diverted as she looks over. Blinking screens are still fascinating to look at. Even though video conversations via phone already have some novelty, computer graphics are an entire new level. ]

I'll trust your judgement on that and try my luck. What... do I need to do?
