Scuttling Around [Open/Backdated]
WHO: Koishi and You!
WHAT: CRABS! CRABS! CRABS! CRABS! CRABS!
WHERE: Fayren Harbor
WHEN: Backdated to May 1st, all day.
WARNINGS: I dunno. Koishi might get impatient and try to eat a raw crab?
It was the commotion at the harbor that attracted the attention of the little green youkai. She had been out gathering some food when she noticed it and, following her third eye, she ended up on the harbor. She had to pause a moment, her already addled perception having a difficult time processing the sheer number of minds in the area. Most were not human. Simple, stupid creatures... The kind that didn't create painful psychic resonance when killed.
She moved closer to investigate, nearly tripping over one of the creatures, catching herself in the air. She floated there, staring for a long moment. "Is... Is that a crab?" It wasn't spoken to anyone in particular. She leaned in for a closer look, keeping her third eye and arteries out of the way. Indeed. It was a crab. In fact it was the largest crab she had ever seen.
The little youkai didn't hesitate. She zipped off, her obfuscating aura allowing her to "borrow" a slim length of strong rope from a nearby pile, using that to bind the poor crab's claws, severing the excess rope with her claws.
She was so focused on her task that she didn't notice the second crab until it bumped into her side. Startled, she plopped down to one side, blinking. "Wah! Another one! And another... and... So many..."
She and her sister would be eating well tonight!

When she arrived, Izumi immediately noticed a spiritual presence in the harbor. Seeing the coil of rope near her move towards the girl, Izumi raised a brow in curiosity. Well this girl certainly wasn't human. But she isn't a youmu either. Not exactly. Izumi normally doesn't treat youmu as equals, but... having a youmu in her, she isn't really the type to judge about that now.
Luckily, today was a good day and Izumi was in a generally pleasant mood. Her expression remained reserved, but she mustered a half smile at least. Besides, Koishi just reminds her of her younger sister Mitsuki.
"Catching a crab with rope is unorthodox." Izumi spoke from a good distance away from Koishi, standing at the boardwalks.

She also seemed very preoccupied with he crab. Having gone back to her work, she was trying to shift the ropes so it pinned the crab's claws against its body. She didn't want to get pinched after all. She paused in her work a moment later, the strange floating orb that had tried to stay out of the way dipped down a bit, turning toward Izumi. It was a little bigger than her fist and resembled a closed eye, two artery-like cords extending from either side twisting through the air, and attaching at the youkai's feet.
Koishi only looked up though when Izumi spoke, blinking at her with luminous eyes. She glanced from side to side and then looked back over her shoulder before focusing again on her. She pointed at herself. "You can see me?" She hadn't realized she was visible. Or perhaps Izumi was simply observant.
no subject
"What are you exactly? I was able to sense you first before I was able to see you, but you're not a youmu"
no subject
"I'm a satori youkai Miss! I'm not sure what a youmu is. Is it like a youkai?" She tilted her head, her third eye drifting forward and gently nudging her shoulder.
I'm so sorry for the slowness orz
"They're similar in many respects. But youkai from the legends I've learned growing up, it's unclear what their origins are. Whereas youmu are born from human negativity"
It's okay :3
"I dunno if we're born from legends... Though I suppose very few youkai know where their species originated. Satori youkai like me are actually born. Though it's somewhat rare. We're not as sturdy as other youkai though so it makes sense. We don't know where the satori began originally though. We have ties to mountain gods, so maybe there?"
She shrugged her shoulders and stuck another crab in the bag. "In my world people have stopped believing in us so we might fade away if we lived in the normal world. A nice gap lady made a world for us to all exist in. Maybe humans will come to believe in us again someday. I dunno." A pause. "I did get to see the outside world though recently. It was amazing and lovely... Actually it looked a lot like Genessia city at night. But different. I got to fly through it before going home."
no subject
"Is that so?"
Izumi pauses, looking at Koishi intently with her distant eyes narrowing.
"I believe I heard a story like that a long time ago in my childhood"
no subject
"Well we're creatures from myths so that's not really surprising. I even got to be an urban legend recently. That made me happy because people have a bit more belief in those. It didn't last, but it was fun. And I got to see a phone from the outside world too. They're just like the phones here!"
She shifted a little, glancing back at the crab bag and quickly putting It down. She began laying the rope out, making a sort of harness for the bag. the weight of the crabs must have been a bit much for it.
no subject
"Do you need help in carrying that?" Izumi quirked a brow. She could isolate the bag in a barrier and just carry it mentally. She's kind of curious enough about this youkai that she's willing to sacrifice some of her free time and get to know the creature better.
no subject
"I should get these back to my sister in Chireiden before they manage to get out and get away. It was nice talking to you Miss. I hope I see you again real soon, okay?" Tentacles slid from her sleeves, wrapping around and supporting the bag where the ropes were not, the little youkai flying up a bit higher in the air. It certainly looked secure.

"There are a lot of these shelled creatures about today. How odd." he muttered loudly as he picked up one of the crabs, shaking it out in front of him to inspect it, keeping the claws well away from himself. "You might make for a decent meal." he muttered before setting it down. Gil's not too far away from the rest of the harbor, so seeing a length of rope that looks severed leads to the man wondering where the other part had gone to.

It would probably take a bit to notice her. The green haired girl who was now lashing the crabs together and trying to stuff them into a bag. She looked very excited, actually, probably taking them home to cook them for dinner. The only thing was... she was taking a lot of them. Of course there was no real shortage of them, but it was surely more than one tiny girl could eat. She got the last one in and tied a knot in the cloth sack, picking up the remaining rope and turning in a circle, looking for another big one.
After a moment her eyes fell on Gilgamesh, blinking twice and tilting her head to one side. She glanced to either side and back over her shoulder before turning to focus on him again. She pointed at herself. "... You can see me?"
no subject
Gil stayed silent as he watched the little green-haired girl go about lashing up crabs, tossing his own behind him into the ripple that was his Gate. An amused smirk was on his face as he saw the many crabs stuffed into a sack, though he wondered if it was a magical bag considering it wasn't breaking.
"Yes. I can see you quite well, little girl." he replied, arms folded over his chest. "Why would you need so many shelled creatures? Planning on a big party?" he asks as he picks up another crab and tosses it into his gate as well. He didn't need it, but more food could always be nice once he finds someone who knows how to cook them.

Koishi drifted over and picked up another bag, likely it wasn't hers, and tossed the crab into it. "I want to collect a whole bunch of them so sis and I have plenty to eat for a long time. We have lots of fruits and vegetables at Chireiden and lots of fish too, but no crabs. I really like crabs. They're tasty."
Her third eye was swaying merrily as she tied the new bag prematurely so the crab wouldn't get away, drifting over to investigate Gilgamesh further. "My name is Koishi Komeiji mister! And you are very shiny!"
no subject
If she talks like a little girl and gets enthusiastic like a little girl and looks like a little girl....Guess what Gil's going to call her.
Looking down at one of the other crabs roaming about, Gilgamesh picked that one up too before holding it out for tying down since the girl seemed to be happy just tying up whatever crab was shown to her. "I should hope I am shiny, little girl. This is a very powerful and rare armor of mine after all." Indeed the armor looked well polished as it gleamed in the sun.
For some reason, Gil couldn't see wrong with the little girl, perhaps just her cheerfulness made her seem...not quite as mongrel-ish as others. Or maybe that's just her being not a human and therefore not Gil's to judge.
"You did say your sister knows how to cook these?" He asks before hmming softly to himself. While learning how to cook something that apparently is tasty is a good thing, he's heard stories of demons and would rather not have to deal with making sure a demon knows that he is never one to be eaten.
no subject
She eventually took the crab from him, tying its claws down just like the others. "Thanks Mister! And I can see your armor is powerful. We have lots of neat things back home but none of it is armor like that."
She seemed to kind of lose interest, or get distracted drifting back over to the bag and adding the crab in. "Yeah sis knows how to make crab. She boils them. I remember that much!" A pause, the crab nearly managing to scuttle out of the bag. "I hope she has a pot big enough to cook these. Raw crabs are not very tasty. If not we should do something else to cook them." She looked back in Gil's direction. "Do you know how to cook them Mister?"
no subject
So boiling is the best way to cook a crab? Somehow Gil didn't think it was just throw them into a pot and that was it. Maybe there was a garnish to be made? "I do not know how to cook them, little demon, but perhaps your sister can show me as well. And my name is not 'Mister'. I am Gilgamesh, King of Heroes."
no subject
She paused, tilting her head as he spoke. "Well... yeah! Sis would know how to. I'm not sure though. She does all the cooking after all. And I bet she would be happy to show you. She's super nice!" The satori did a little spin. "And I'm sorry Mister. My head is broken and I can't remember people's names. But you're an important Mister. I can see that!"
no subject
He tilts his head at the idea of being shown how to cook the crabs, reaching down to pat Koishi on the head once. "Tis alright if you cannot remember my name." You poor touched thing. "Simply lead me to where I can obtain the method of cooking these crabs will suffice. And if it helps, you can refer to me by my class: Archer."
