So far from home
[Oh look, a new arrival. He's fiddling with the comm and examining the necklace with a vaguely bemused expression.]
Not that I don't appreciate the bling, but it's not exactly my style.
Anyone care to tell me what's going on, and how I get home?

'Gadreel'? But- I guess that makes the Cas thing make better sense, but-
[It strikes him as a little odd that even after everything, he kind of expects Cas's presence. He can't help it though, in the last few years, he's become almost as close and familiar as Sam (Almost) even after all the crap Cas has pulled, but... He just does. He's a moron like that, he guesses.
But still, that brings us to-] What the hell happened?
no subject
Cas said it was his fault that Lucifer got into Eden in the first place. He'd been in prison since the beginning.
He also.. he killed Kevin, Dean. He killed him and I remember the whole thing. [Just as sure as if he'd done it himself.]
no subject
He's just about to open his mouth and comment on Gadreel when... you tell him what happened to Kevin. It takes all of his words away for a long moment. He got Kevin killed? Why the hell wasn't he there? Why the hell didn't he do something more if he was?]
Kevin. [A pause, like he's not quite able to process the fact the first time.] ...Kevin? [Jesus Fucking Christ on a Christmas tree. and it's safe to say he's no longer like a bouncy, excitable puppy.] I-I'm sorry.
no subject
Sam looks down at the table, at his hands spread on the wood of the bar. He hadn't had much in the way of time to process anything, not since Dean had left. The only focus he had was the job - find Gadreel, kill him for what he did to Kevin and find some way to fix Heaven.
Somehow.
He drags a hand through his hair.] We're tracking him, me and Cas. You.. after I was able to get away from the angel, you left. Cas and I are trying to track him down.
no subject
Which reminds him-
Crap.]
Yeah, about that kind of thing. I kind of avoided it earlier. [Or, you know, completely forgot to mention in his fit of excitement.] I'm uhh.... kinda in the middle of a hunt here. Guy who's been terrorising the city - he blew up the house at christmas. [Yeah, you can see on his face how not-happy he is about that.] Goes by 'M'. He's got feelers out everywhere, acts anonymously and has been a real pain in the ass to get any kind of info on. And, uh, you might not want him to know we're brothers. [He's kind of sheepish about that. Yep, Dean got himself in major trouble here. IT TOOK HIM A YEAR, THOUGH. GO HIM, RIGHT, SAM? RIGHT?!] You can be in on this if you want, but... it's gonna be safer for you if you don't.... at least until you're settled anyway. I'm not gonna let him hurt you, but... [it trails, and there's a long pause. Trust him, it's killing him to admit the following part. The fact he's doing so should show you that there's a long, complicated and terrible history here.] if he wants you, I'm not one hundred percent sure I could stop him in the first place.
[Jenn and the exploding mall is very much on his mind as he says it. As he slowly admits it, he just sags. Very terrible, and very long. But he needs Sam to know excatly how it is with this guy. It's the one time he knows for sure that half-truths are not going to help in any way, shape, or form. No chances where M is concerned.]
no subject
And okay. Guess they're not taking about this? Not for long, Dean. Sam can't just let it simmer. It'll wind up poisoning them both.]
I'm settled. Whatever happened, I'm in. But before we start a job? We've got to talk about something.
[See this face? Not getting out of it, Dean. No way.]
no subject
I've got a pretty strong feeling I know exactly what you want to talk about, so.... let me finish. Then we'll talk about it. [Or, you know, hopefully one or two of them will distract you away from this...]
no subject
no subject
Just you wait, Sam. juuuust you wait.]you should probably talk to angel as well, seeing as how she lives in the house. [As much as he's liking you, Sam.... he doesn't think he'd have the heart to throw her out. Scratch that, he definitely doesn't have the heart.] Don't freak out over the wings, she's human. Or, human enough. But... that's her story to tell, if she wants to.
Then there's Harry - and your little geek heart is going to love that he's a wizard. But yeah, it's not Potter. I owe the guy a beer or two, and he's the guardian of Everglade, which is the subcity we're stuck in. Very damned handy in a fight.
[He pauses for a moment, chewing over this one.] Orihime is someone you definitely want to meet. You're going to love her. [Okay, enthusiasm there. A bit more than he was going for. tone it down, self.] She's a bit of a dork sometimes, but she's nice. Someone you can count on when you need it [...This is coming from Dean, Sam. This girl is reliable] and half the time, you don't even have to ask. And she's one hell of a healer - You wouldn't believe it now, but yesterday, I was nearly mauled to death. Bitten and scratched to hell all over.... but not a damned mark left. I mean, she'd already told me she could do it, but... I didn't realise it was so good. [Oh, look, Sam, he may have just rambled a little bit.]
....Actually, with your tendency to get your sasquatch ass into trouble, you should meet her first.
no subject
.. Dean doesn't ramble like that about people. Especially not in such glowing terms.
Oh he has got to meet her first and not because of what she can do in terms of healing.
He kind of wants/needs to see in person what she's doing to his brother to make that dopey ass smile show up.]
Ah, yeah. Sure. We can start with her if you want.
no subject
...What?
[And just as he's at the point he would start fidgeting, you talk. And... agree with no issues. Really? He expected a little foot draggage. That worked... a little too effectively. Just, what?]
O...kay. [Mind you, if it puts off that talk...] I could see if she's free now?
no subject
'Hey, honey, you here by yourself this time?'
[Orihime looks up, then beams as she puts down the sandwich.]
Yes! I guess lunch just sounded really good, ha ha!
'Yeah? Ol' 'Eye of the Tiger' is here too, went into one of the karaoke rooms with a mighty tall fella. Think he's practicin' for the next karaoke round. Bet he wants to impress ya!'
[The waitress winks, but Orihime hardly notices, already twisting in her seat to see if she can spot Dean. She can't, of course, but now that she's aware he's here she can feel his reiatsu. Oh cool! ...Hopefully the 'tall fella' is a friend. Might be Harry! But she doesn't want to interrupt...if Harry and Dean are here together, she doubts they came to sing. It's probably stuff about M. She starts to sink down in her seat again, but the waitress is a wily one, stealing her plate and glass and marching off straight for the room.]
A...anou, I shouldn't...!
'C'mon, honey, I'm sure he'll be happy to see you.'
[Orihime's not so sure about that, but she can apologize and back out after saying hello, she supposes. Otherwise she won't get her lunch back. The waitress knocks sharply twice, barely enough time to alert the Winchesters before opening the door.]
'Brought you boys a friend.'
[Except she's saying it directly to Dean. Orihime just...kind of stands there with a hand raised in greeting, apologies written all over her face. That's not Harry at all.]
Ah ha ha...! Sorry for the interruption!
[Her sandwich was hijacked, what else was she supposed to do???]
no subject
Hey. I-
[Oh, look. It's Orihime. And he even still has his phone in his hand to call her. To anyone who knows him, that is his bad mood creeping back off from whence it came, even if it's just the glare softening and the fact he quit bitching almost immediately.]
Well, your timing is awesome. And a little creepy. I was just gonna call you. [He gets up, takes the sandwich and nudges Hime in just enough that he can swing the door shut in the waitresses face. Okay, that made him feel better, too.] Sam, Orihime. Orihime, this is Sammy. Finally. [Handing her her sandwich as he says it.]
no subject
Oh.
OH.
Oh he's so calling Mom.
Sam smiles and offers a hand.] Hi. I've already heard a lot about you. [And all of it good.
Oh Dean. You're so screwed.]
no subject
Sorry I beat your phone call, ha ha!
[To Sam, she starts to bow, but changes strategies when he extends his hand. She grips his in turn, smiling cheerfully.]
I'm really happy to meet you! That's so awesome, Dean-san!
[She beams back at Dean again. He must be thrilled to have his brother with him. Amazing! ...but Sam's heard about her already? That's kind of flattering!]
Really? ...About my powers and everything?
no subject
I might have mentioned them. [He rubs at the back of his neck. Awkwaaard.] It was only in passing. Kind of.
[...Crap. And Sam's giving him looks that he doesn't like. Dammit, Sam.]
Let's put it this way, he knows not as much about you as you know about him. [Even if some of it wasn't exactly his choosing to share. Stoopid glitchy archways.]
no subject
He only told me a little. [And he's seeing so much more.] It's good to meet you.
no subject
[Her powers aren't secret, not to someone like Sam. There are very few people she'd try to hide her abilities from. She's just surprised, and happy she doesn't have to explain it herself.]
I'm very glad you're here!
[Especially since she knows how tough it's been lately for Dean and everything he's had to face. She looks to Dean, oblivious of Sam's reactions and the deeper reasons to Dean's reactions.]
What were you calling me about? Is everything okay?
no subject
[Actually, the main reason was the one she gave at first. But far from the only one. Far, Far from it.] He's already met Mom, and Angel is... Well, I think she's still gonna be pissed about the whole Harry thing [Sam, don't ask. Although, he looks only half as bad about that as he feels, and he looks like he feels terrible, even if only fleetingly.] So right now is probably not the best time to... yeah... but the first person I could think of after them was you. [It's not that you're third best, it's that you're first best outside of the family unit, which is always gonna be first. And he's already kind of explained the mini-family to Sam, so... Sam might even get it. Even if it whooshes over Orihime's head. Which Dean doesn't even consider as a possibility, even if it is. Until now. dammit. But if he tacks it on the end, then it looks like... he'll just leave it and hope she gets it.]
Sit with us for a while. You know, if you're not too busy. [He does add that on the end because he saw the sandwich and assumed she wasn't.]
no subject
Dean is babbling. Like, a lot. Dean doesn't ever lose his cool around attractive women like this unless..
Sam bites the corner of his lip and nods politely at Orihime. Oh his brother is so busted. And judging by the way she's looking at Dean? Yeah, this isn't a one-way street at all.]
Ah, Angel and Harry?
no subject
[And she's not offended by the prioriy rankings either. Why would she be? Actually she's kind of flattered that he counts her as a friend that follows so closely after family.]
Er...are you okay?
[Why did Sam suddenly say 'ow'? Oh sibling shenanigans, she never got to enjoy the kind where brothers lovingly beat each other up. She munches on her sandwich as she listens, glancing back and forth between the two as she takes a seat.]
I haven't met Angel-chan yet, but I think she kind of adopted Dean-san, ha ha! Dresden-san is a wizard, and he's working as the city guardian in Everglade. He's a good person. Funny, too!
[But she worries she might have been a little too weird for him, since he never got back to her about that offer to work as his assistant. Which is a pity, because being a wizard's apprentice would have been all kinds of amazing.]
