[That stuff from a few days back was unsettling, but there wasn't much that could be done about it at the moment.]


So I’ve been thinking..in my world there are different groups. For example, there is one called the Avengers. They’ve been called Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. They are made up of people from different walks of life. Iron Man, real name Tony Stark. A billionaire engineer who made a suit of armor to help fight crime. Captain America, a frozen hero from the 1940s. Hawkeye, a man with a bow and arrow. The Hulk, a scientist that turns into a big green monster when he is angry. Black Panther, a king from a foreign country. Hell, even the Thor, the Thunder God.

And many many more. Not all are on the team at the same time, and many members rotate out. The members may change, but their goal is always the same. To protect people and come together to fight the foes that might be too strong for just one person. Mutants like myself have been on the team as well, but there is a team called the X-Men that is made up of mutants that do pretty much the same thing when they can. But they aren’t nearly as well liked.

But what I’m getting at is that I’m thinking about forming a group like that here, and this posting just to test to waters and see if anyone would be interested in joining that sort of thing. I think it could be beneficial to this place as a whole. Given the business with the sky a few days ago, I think this is needed now more than ever. If this group is formed, I would establish a base with training facilities and such.

Joining the group wouldn’t mean you have an obligation to do anything nor would we expect you to give your affiliation with it priority over any other team or group that you are with. You would be expected to help out if a situation called for it or someone else in the group asked for your help, but you wouldn’t necessarily have to. Patrolling the cities, reporting any suspicious behavior or wanted criminals would be something asked of its members.

Your membership and participation is completely on your terms. You can stay with the group for however long you want and leave it if you don’t feel like being in it anymore.

Combat skills and fighting abilities aren't a necessity. If you have certain skills that you think would be beneficial, then you would be more than welcomed to join. Potential members will be interviewed and vetted, but nothing invasive would happen. The process would be explained to you before the interview starts.

So let me know what you all think. Questions, comments, anything. I believe that all of us together can accomplish a lot.

Those sound like quite the characters. I feel somewhat impoverished having never known Earth's mightiest heroes.

I can't claim to be a mighty hero myself, but I am interested in joining such a thing, if you'd have me. I doubt whether I'd be able to pull away from Everglade, given the trouble I suspect will occur, but nonetheless, I'd try to help where I could.

My world has something like that. They are mages and we created guilds so that we could do jobs and help people out with different odd things. There are a lot of powerful people in Earth-Land.

I think it's a good idea to do something like that here also. I'm good with books but I'm also a strong fighter too so let me know if I can help in some way.

I take it Earth-Land is the name of the planet that you are from? [Strangish name, but nothing too weird.] We have magic users on my world that work with the teams too, but there aren't a lot of them on the planet. Are all the powered people on your world mages?

I remember seeing your initial post and you mentioning Fairy Tail. I know there is a place named that in Fayren, so I assume you guys reestablished your guild here too? If they would be fine with it, I'd love to have you and any of them as members of the group that I am trying to put together. Even if you only wanted to work in the capacity of a researcher.

I would have proposed this idea even if I didn't win. If the Guardian after me is doing their duty, they should have no reason to try to do anything against the group. We are just the people that have ended up here that want to make this place better and safe. It's not something one person can do alone, and if they don't get that, then they don't deserve their position.

[Athrun listens in silence and then ponders for a while before finally answering. A group of such people...it sounded much like the Three Ships Alliance, and later Terminal, back home.]

You can count me interested. I may not have any particular superhuman abilities -- at least not on the level you're describing -- but I've been around the block many times, so to speak. I've got military training, field experience, and some handy talents.

And if there's a way to bring equipment here from our homes, then I can provide all the more.

Having them really isn't a necessity. Your military training and field experience are a real bonus, though. I'm sure we could work something out to help you level the field with some opponents.

You either have to open a sub-archway to your home or get someone to build stuff for you. But what sort of equipment are we talking about?

You weren't kidding about getting me in on emergencies, starting something like this.

[ There's a little bit of red sauce on her cheek, and apparently the trash can in the background is a little stuffed with two folded, empty party platters. There's a little symbol of a buffalo with a wing on the side of the bent clear cellophane top. There are a number of napkins stuffed in there too, but it looks like she missed a bit before responding. ]

I want to protect this place as best as I can. Can't half-ass it by trying to take things solo. [Ideally they wouldn't need her services, but because of the things that can go down in this world, he knows he will have to call on her at some point.]

I would not mind providing my assistance. I have experience as far as fighting and strategy is concerned, and furthermore, I have demonstrated here that I have a few abilities.

When would you want potential applicants to come by, sir?

[Yukiko couldn't help but be a little interested. After having been part of a team before this she kind of missed it. But she didn't know yet if she could be open about her persona. She would have to speak to Yosuke a bit more first... and maybe see if he would be interested.]

I'm interested in taking anyone that wants to join. [So, the more the merrier, really.] I'm going to be schedule a time to do interviews with all potential members just to get a better idea of the sort of person everyone is. It won't be anything invasive, just simple questions.

Well, I'm not official in the position yet. And this is something that should be able to stand on its own without a Guardian backing it. [That's what he hopes, at least. It wasn't like people didn't do this sort of stuff anyway by going after bounties in the paper.]

But having the support of another Guardian isn't a bad thing, though.

I'd say this amuses me, but it actually intrigues me. My world has nothing like this except for a tense truce between Bloodline and humans in order to hunt a mutual threat. So few in humanity could accept our existence much less work so freely together.

[A thoughtful pause.]

You know, that almost sounds like a group of youngsters in a basement with a lot of coffee and a bunch of dice. An engineer or mage, a hero, an archer, a beast-man, a limited deity, and a royal. It does get rather boring working entirely alone all the time though. The name is Bridget, we touched minds before.

Most of the superheroes in my world are very accepting of other beings. Humans can be a bit less so, depending on what you are.

They do, don't they? But there are many more than just them. Those were just to name a few. And I remember you. I'm David Haller, in case you don't know already.
