[Video] Newsflash: Genessia's barrier is freaking weird

[Pascal is in the GSRF lab. It looks like it was nice and new before she moved in, but right now it's a mess of papers, books, and random equipment in various stages of assembly. She's as chipper as ever but her smile doesn't quite reach her eyes, her movements are a little less enthusiastic, and she's actually speaking at a normal volume for once. It'd be weird to say she's still recovering from the ghosts-- it's not like she was hurt, you know? She just feels... a little faded, still.]

Hey! It's Pascal at the GSRF, and I've got a quiz for you! What's shimmery and liquid and totally defies physics?

[She turns to a bench with a hammer, an empty petri dish, and a vial of clear liquid that crackles with faint light. She pours the vial into the petri dish and then flashes a mischievous grin before swinging the hammer at it. The liquid appears to solidify right as she hits it, and the hammer rebounds.]

I'll give you a second to think about it.

...Okay! The answer is: I have no idea!

I took this sample from the barrier when it was all cracked and easy to chunk-chunk away at it. It's got a bunch of organic molecules in it too, which is totally weird for a piece of architecture!

But biology isn't really my thing, so I'm just kinda hoping that there's a biologist or a doctor out there who could help me out. You can message me over the network or just drop by the lab any time. Thanks!

[She's done with her announcement but she doesn't cut off the video. She just eyes the camera uncomfortably.]

[Aside from her getting drained, but hey-- she got better! ]

Anyway, there's probably gonna be some people visiting the lab and I've let it get kinda disorganized so I should probably tidy it up a bit before they come by. I know you're pretty good at that kinda thing, soooo... wanna help me out?

[She whips out a banana pie from behind her back-- the ultimate incentive, obviously.]

[Levy can’t say that she knows anything about biology besides what she has read in books but she is definitely interested in this information. If what she said is correct it means that barrier is alive. Maybe it’s a live the way magic is? Either way she wants to take a look and the first step is to message the girl.]

Yeah, mostly... Still a little tired, but that also might be cause the lab chairs are totally uncomfortable to nap in.

Well, I've got the technology covered so you don't need to worry about that. It's kind of my thing.

[She winks and hops up to sit on the lab bench, swinging her legs.]

As for biology, that's about where I am too, so two empty heads are better than one, y'know? Here, lemme send you what I actually got.

[She fiddles with the phone for a minute and sends over the data. Depending on how familiar Levy is, she might be able to tell that they're signaling molecules.]

... Sleeping in lab chairs would probably cause issues, yeah.

I'm... Mostly okay, yeah. Just recovering my abilties after... The thing.

There are a ton of mysteries about this place! This is what I'm working on right now cause the crack was a great opportunity, but I also want to check out where the cocoons in the bay come from, and what makes the archways work, and what the NPCs actually are, and all sorts of stuff. It's a bummer to be kidnapped and all, but there are lifetimes worth of research to do on this place!

Sorry about your crappy timing, though. That's rough.

[ She shrugs. ]

[Because magic or biology, how something interacts with something else can tell us a lot.]

Other than the whole swishy-liquid-to-super-solid thing? Ehhhh, not really. I don't know how to take out the life-y bits from the rest, if that's what you wanna study, and I haven't had a lot of time to build up the lab.

We can fix that though! We've still got a lot of budget so if we figure out what we need to do, I can totally build a thing that'll do it.

((OOC: By the way, let me know how detailed/scientific it's ok for me to be here! I usually keep it generic for RP purposes but if you and/or Levy would understand what I meant talking about different methods of analysis and stuff, I'm up for it. I live and breathe bench science.))

[She sounds a little frustrated, and totally ok with comparing herself to a disease.]

We should find out what it's made up of and in what way it reacts to other things. If you can build something that can easily test that.

[Levi feels a bit bad that he let Pascal get drained and needed to hurry to do other things and couldn't help her when she needed help.... so he's glad to see she's doing alright.]

Yeah, I guess that'll take a while. It's a total waste that they poofed and I didn't even get to borrow a chunk of em as a consolation prize.

This is how I figured out it's kinda organic! Isn't it cool? It's all pew pew and the sample's like OH NO I'M FALLING APART and then the computer's all I'VE GOT YOU NOW, MUWAHAHAHA!

[That's a bit enthusiastic even for Pascal so she looks a little sheepish and clears her throat.]

...Or something like that. So we can use this to see what it's made of, but I dunno what kinds of things we should put it with to see if it interacts.

((OOC: It'll all be filtered through Pascal-speak for extra confusion, so sorry Levy. You probably know more about Pascal's skillset than I do since I'm more of a molecular bio guy... oops. But it'll work out!))

Were you dead before you got here? I haven't heard of that happening, but this place is pretty funny about death so it's not super surprising.

And we're the Genessia Scientific Research Foundation! Dedicated to figuring out what the heck this place is and how to go home and all that jazz. Weiss is our sugar momma, but we don't have to do what she tells us or anything. We pick our own research topics.

I think I'm following. [Though her description is making Levy smile because it makes the whole process sound very fantastic.]

I think we should test if it interacts with different chemicals and then different magic, also temperature changes though if it's around a city I don't see that being a problem.
