Birthday Party! [Open]

Who: GSNK cast + any of Mayu's friends + any of Mikoshiba's friends
When: August 8th, but it's a sleepover so overnight.
What: Mayu's Birthday Party! With a bonus of Pokemon.
Where: Manga House in Genessia
Warnings: None right now. Starter threads will be posted, feel free to reply to those or make up your own thread.

Visitors will be greeted by either Mikoshiba, or one of the other housemates. The decor is a bit different from other parties: there are pillows literally everywhere, in case Mayu wants to fall asleep wherever during the party. The recent arrival of Pokemon make it even more chaotic, though it depends on the Pokemon's temperament. Some Pokemon are good for cuddling, which is another reason why they're out. Everyone has been asked to bring their own sleeping bag if they choose to spend the night, but if they don't have one they'll figure something out (or just shove them at someone else to share a sleeping bag with).

Mikoshiba is doing his best to greet visitors as they arrive, even though it goes against his nature to talk to people he isn't familiar with.

"Welcome! Thanks for coming. There's snacks, and some video games you can choose from if you want."

He rented more mainstream games just for this event. No one has to see the dating sim collection. And the bunny ears? He hid them. There still might be the chance that Nozaki will find them. Especially when Mikoshiba occasionally gets to flustered and hides, asking one of the others to take over.

Feel free to mingle with other characters here, or start your own thread! Kashima was kind enough to provide cupcakes, and there's candy of various flavors thanks to a generous donation by Loki Laevatein. There are different drinks and snacks to go along with everything else, though certain Pokemon might try to get into stuff. A gaming system and video games have been set up for the time being too.

Somehow, Mikoshiba will attempt to get Mayu to go to the cake. Nozaki baked it, so maybe that will help? Mikoshiba decided to go with Luke's suggestion to use baby candles, seeing as they take less effort to blow out. After cake, there's gifts for Mayu! Feel free to use this a starter if you want.

Thanks to Yui's input, there will be several judo movies playing once things have kind of but not really calmed down, and all of the sleeping bags are set up. None of the titles are very familiar, and some are cheesier than others, but they're mainly for the judo instructor.

[ that's okay, Nozaki is going to be coming in with a large gift wrapped item that looks almost like it's the size of a real person. but he looks like he's wearing a backpack. he's coming in and turning to set it down and OH MY GOD

he's got his Treecko on his back in a BABY CARRIER. it seems like it's chilling out though, looking around at everything. the pokemon's got a pink and white spotted bandanna around it's neck. that thing is probably being spoiled rotten... ]

Oi, Mikoshiba, can you give me a hand? I need to put this with the other gifts.

[Cries because Nozaki didn't need the bunny ears to look weird. Mikoshiba blinks and seriously worries about Mayu's health because what could be underneath all that wrapping paper? Was it a practice dummy for judo???]

Oh... Right!

[He rushes over, nearly tripping over his Marill that decides right then and there to tackle his leg. He's distracted by the Pokemon now, trying to get her to do something else.]

Umi-mi! Stop that, I have to help Nozaki!

Well this is a surprise, Satsuki was actually expecting the older of the Nozaki brothers to be greeting.

The young lady tried to arrive in something a little less professional, but as things go now, she'll probably die in a uniform. So there she is in her usual white uniform, coat over her shoulders and cap upon her head, with a box covered in white wrapping paper and black ribbon under her arm.

".. Video games?" Ryuko likes those, right? Perhaps this is an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

Mikoshiba is too busy trying to figure out whether he said something embarrassing when greeting Satsuki. Mayu's friends are very impressive. An embarrassed blush covers his face even though he didn't do or say anything weird.

Oh. She had said something, hadn't she? He nods slowly, looking hesitant, as if she had just asked him to solve a particularly long equation. "There are a few racing games, I think, and some platformers...and a couple of fighting games too!" The fighting games consisting mostly of girl characters in impractical and revealing outfits. He thought Mayu might like that. Might like it.

Wow. Mikoshiba is damned cute! Satsuki isn't sure how she missed that last time; it might have been because Kashima was making her uncomfortable. (Not in a bad way, promise). Actually.. Now that she thinks about it, when has she ever described someone as cute that wasn't a kid?

There must be something in the air in this household.

"I see," she replies as she hands him the gift box. It might be his imagination, but Satsuki's expression may be growing a bit intense. "'Racing' and 'fighting' makes sense as a genre. Explain to me what a 'platformer' is."

Umi-mi? [ Nozaki is looking down and his Treecko is actually out of the carrier, crawling on his head to look down too. do they have the same facial expression? oh my god ]

Your pokemon has almost the same name as mine.

Mikoshiba takes the gift box and nearly drops it. Was Satsuki asking him a question as if he knew something she didn't?! He tries not to look too pleased with himself or eager to explain. It would be embarrassing if he looked like he enjoyed video games to the extent that he does. Even if Satsuki might not even have a strong idea of what video games are.

"Platformers are games that have platforms and other obstacles you have to go through to win the level. A lot of it is like an obstacle course." He tries to sound casual about it, but his voice shakes a bit. So he smiles like he practiced hundreds of times in front of the mirror, the same he uses when talking to the girls from his school.

[ Yui had gotten a general idea of what sort of person Mayu was, from both Mayu himself and Mikoshiba. Which is why she had brought over a gift bag that contained a NapAnywhere pillow. She'd had to think about it- it was between that and something judo-related, but in the end she'd decided something like that would mean that he could take a rest at work if he needed to.

As for cake? Yui will be waiting patiently until everyone else has a piece to get hers unless someone hands her a slice, and telling her Turtwig to do the same. He seems determined to get to the cake...

[ Being Mayu's friend and all, Weiss decided she had to at least show up. It was.. weird. She'd never been to an actual birthday party before that wasn't a huge spectacle business-like gathering with champagne and a need to work on PR instead of just enjoying yourself. So when Mikoshiba greeted her and said snacks and video games, she quirked an eyebrow. ]

Video games? [ She didn't have experience with board games, what makes anyone thing Weiss knows how to play one of those. ]

[...He's suddenly very worried for his Marill and holds her in case the Treecko decides to jump on her with that face.

Until she squirms out of his arms and starts heading for Mayu's presents. He has to pull her back.]

What's your pokemon's name?

[ If it's sleepover time, Weiss is going to be occupying the bathroom probably longer than anyone has a right to. Sorry everyone, but she has a process and it involves brushing allll of that long hair and lotions and all sorts of things. Just about the only thing the process doesn't include is having actually been involved in a sleepover that wasn't a bunch of students-in-waiting who hadn't been assigned dorms yet. ]

[This is the closest he's ever been to talking to a celebrity. He's seen Weiss on video, but not in person, but he's always admired her fashion sense.]

[He tries to look like he's in thought, and not surprised that she doesn't know much about video games.] It's a sophisticated hobby that challenges both your mental abilities and your physical ones, and your ability to react and think outside the box all while making full use of your five senses.

Besides smell and taste and touch. [He's not going to make it sound bad if she's unfamiliar. Did he just make it sound bad? Maybe he went overboard.]

[ It should be the closest considering she actually is a celebrity. Moreso in her world than this one (though she's close in this one too). ]

If that were true, wouldn't the industry implement them in a much more useful setting than peoples' homes?

[ Sorry, Mikoshiba. She has to go to school to test those things, she's a little doubtful about video games doing the same thing as fighting monsters. ]

[Oh no she has a good point. He turns a deep shade of red, eying the curtains behind him for whatever reason every time he nervously stammers to try and say words.]

Where...where would you implement them?

Considering I don't typically spend my time playing games, I have no idea what uses they might have.

[ She has no concern over the fact that she's probably intimidating him. ]

Oh.

[He made this awkward he can't make it awkward Mayu's counting on him. She's so short but so intimidating no wonder she's Mayu's friend someone help.]

You should try them if you want. No one else is right now.

[ As adorable as Mikoto-san is when floundering, Mayu can't let this continue. He approaches them. He's not as overt with PDA in front of Weiss, he doesn't want to remind her of what she misses with Zuko.]

Weiss, thank you for coming. Please, enjoy yourself.

Mikoto-san, do you have any turn based strategy games?

[ He figures that might be a genre Weiss can get into.]

Satsuki manages to keep a neutral expression despite Mikoshiba promptly opening himself up like a book. Those little (are they even little) details absolutely are noticed. But to be fair, being a host(ess) doesn't appear to be easy work. Conclusion: He must be a newbie.

So she nods her head, providing at least a little support as she takes in his explaination. "I suppose I could see how that would be entertaining," she ponders aloud. "Though I am uncertain if that is what I am looking for.. So those are the only available three?"

And this is most certainly not OOC stalling for a future competition against Weiss. *cough cough*.

[Mikoshiba's gift for Mayu comes in a pair. One is oddly shaped, but once it's opened it becomes clear why. A red rose tied in front of it, there is a small gardenia plant for Mayu's room, to help relieve some of the anxiety he's had when he sleeps. The second gift is a sleeping kit he made for him. It includes a lavender infused sleeping mask, jasmine and valerian pillow spray, and a pillowcase.

He stares at his cake, hoping Mayu likes his present and is enjoying everything. If he has to feed Mayu, depending on how lazy he feels, so be it.]

If he wasn't obvious before, he practically squirms under Satsuki's gaze now. It's obvious he wants to say something, but he bites his lip, unsure of whether he should. Is someone who might enjoy the same games as him without thinking they're weird worth the potential embarrassment?

"Ah..." He starts gracefully, trying very hard to look casual. "Actually, I forgot. There are a couple of other genres too. I think it was called turn based strategy? I wouldn't know because I don't play a lot of video games or anything!" Awkward, pained laugh. He pretends he didn't just describe platformers in-depth. His heart starts beating in his chest and he gets more nervous. "Let me go get them. They're in my room. Because...Nozaki put them there!"

[ when his Marill starts to run to the present, Nozaki's Treecko jumps onto the floor and runs over in front of it with her arms stretched out. there's a gasp from Nozaki and he looks so teary-eyed ]

Umami! I'm so proud of you for listening to me! [ and he reaches into his pocket. is that a gummy worm? oh. that Treecko is eating it... it probably shouldn't be eating things like that... ]
