Video; Future Defense
With the business in Attleton, I wanted to speak to you all. I know many of you were here when the barrier inside Everglade cracked and all of the spirits started to leak in. Those things are lingering just outside the barrier, and while many of us were strong enough to combat them, I know many people that weren’t able to kill them.
Your abilities appear to have needed to meet a certain criteria in order to take them out. With that in mind, I set forth to come up with something to even the playing field. So..
[David pulls a sword in a sheathe from off screen.]
This is Eternal Harmony, it's the name given to the sword. It is capable of killing the spirits that invaded the city. A blacksmith was able to forge a capture spirit into the blade to make it capable of killing them. However, the weapon does have drawbacks. Prolonged use of it will drain emotions like the spirits did.
It takes a while before it becomes a problem or you actually notice that its doing it. As long as the sword remains in its sheathe, though, the effects are sealed. It was done this way because applying sealing effects to the blade itself would have sealed its ability to kill the spirits.
This sword is just one of many weapons that I had made using captured spirits. I went with a big verity from spears, axes, rapiers, ect.
I know forging spirits into weapons like this won't be popular with everyone. But this is one of the better options for defense. I promise you, once the weapons are no longer needed, they will be destroyed.
The weapons will be stored in a safe location and loaned out during a time when they are needed. If you would like first hand experience with one of these weapons, I can arrange a time for you to wield one so you see what they are like.
Hopefully they will never need to be used, but better safe than sorry.

"Please be very careful with that sword mister! There are easier ways to kill the spirits on a smaller scale so don't resort to it first. Human emotions are edged behind glass. Stable but irreparable if not minded! If an issue comes up please exhaust all other means of combat before resorting to something like that."

aI personally don't need to use the weapons, but I know that others might. Anyone that would want to use one would understand the risk, and if they still want to use one, then it is their choice.
I've had the weapons put through their paces, it is not suggested that people use them to combat the creatures for hours and hours, but using them to strike a killing blow against one puts them at no real risk. And as long as people make sure to place them in their sheaths when not in use, there wonky be any needless draining.
I've done my due diligence. If people use them reonspibly when the time comes, they will be in no danger from anything but the creatures themselves.

"Necessity outweighs risk though I suppose. It's just like humans to come up with such silly and sound logic. I'll never really understand it."

"If he really forged the spirits into weapons though instead of just sealing them within then its a different story. Alchemically reinforced demon binding. If the spirit is now part of the metal itself as opposed to simply inside the weapon itself then its much safer... at least in terms of risk of the spirit getting out."
A pause. "And as much as I dislike the spirits, they had more presence than the non-amulet people of the city. They felt more real to me than the puppets that walk the streets. Think about that."

[Any ounce of shyness or social awkwardness is overwhelmed by his desire to fawn over the weapons. His voice rises to practically a squeak and there are stars in his eyes.] That's so cool! It's like a legitimate ultimate weapon!

Thank you. It took time to have them forged, but they were all finished just a few days ago.

[He imagines it being similar to forging weapons in a video game. Repetitive, mindless, but rewarding for the battle with the hidden boss.]
Can anyone learn to use them? Or just... real life fighters.

A very interesting weapon. Do you believe we'll have trouble with those spirits again?

Hello, My name is Aqua, I'm new to this city and perhaps I don't understand the danger that this world faces but no one should wield a blade like that without training.
[Her expression is serious but gentle.]
I understand if people choose to use these weapons, however I'd like to offer my services to train those who wish to use them. I don't need the weapons to teach people how to use a sword but they should understand the dangers of a blade before it even has magic.
Video
Thank you for the offer. It's not only swords that I have, but it is good to have someone willing to train another person to wield any sort of weapon. Do you have many years of training yourself?

I do. They linger outside the barriers and they have proven they can breech it once. It might not be easy, but I believe they can do it again. Though I hope they never do.
