Mission 1 - S.S.D.D.
Genessia City - City Streets
Genessia City - Schnee Company Office
[It's not common for people who suddenly wake up in a completely different universe to be calm and walk around like it's just another day, but for Agent Dantes, it really is - sort of. Once he made it out of the Bay, his face plate disassembles to slide back and reveal his face. He puts his rifle on the magnet on his back before taking a seemingly casual stroll, trying to blend in as much as he could in his streamlined armor with holstered weapons on it. His stride is calm and confident despite the funny looks he's getting from some of the pedestrians on the sidewalk. He has the pamphlet, the money, and his communicator stored within his armor's storage compartments, but he wears the necklace around his arm instead, wrapped around his gauntlet like a chained wrist accessory.
It didn't take long before Troy found something to do in this new world. Troy stopped for a minute to help a delivery crew, as one of their truck's wheels that got stuck on a ditch in the road. After talking with the crew who told him about the called-for help is running late, Troy wasted no time and lifted the vehicle slightly just to free it out of the trench. It seemed easy for him because of his armor. After exchanging a few more words with a grateful crew, Troy waves as they went on their way. He sighs with pride as he stood tall with his fist on his waist.
That was before Troy notices someone with the same gemstone necklace he has. Troy clears his throat and dusts his armored palms together, towards the other person with the necklace. He gets their attention them with a friendly upward nod before pointing to their necklace]
Say, how long have you been in here for?
Genessia City - Schnee Company Office
[Troy observes the facade of the Schnee Company's headquarters for a good few seconds, trying to burn the images of important locations in the city into his memory. He remembers seeing the girl in white from the hologram earlier. He lets himself in, but not before freeing himself from his armor and taking the necklace. The suit opens up to let Troy walk out of it before assembling itself again. The armor stayed outside to stand guard while Troy enters and approaches the front desk without any visible hesitation.
He fixes the cuffs and the collar of his white jacket over his black fitting shirt, to make himself look presentable before speaking to the attendant]
Hi there. I was encouraged by a certain Weiss Schnee to drop by.
[Troy raises the hand that is holding the necklace]
I have some questions about these "archways".
Sorry for the wait! orz
[It's frustrating watching people do what she would consider 'useless'. On the other hand it's nice being free of her problems at home. She is silent for about ten seconds, as if she were distracted. Eventually she looks to her company again.]
Straight to business then; I can appreciate that. The city I watch over is Nova City- it stands out as being the most technologically advanced sub-city in Genessia. Your attire suggests to me that you may fit in rather well.
[As for flirting; she tends to just play dumb. He is rather handsome for a foreigner, but for her that is secondary. Or third.. dary.]
And speaking of your attire, I wanted to know if you are a soldier.
It's all good!
[Since he mentioned his job title, he might as well introduce himself. Troy's job fits the bill of a soldier's as well, since he's considered a supersoldier in his world. But he didn't go through boot camp, have a rank (yet), or fight for any flag. Rather he received his training from a group of anti-supernatural assassins before he joined the private sector as an agent]
The faction I work for is an independent intelligence and paramilitary agency, backed by the worlds most powerful corporations. We protect our world and any others we know of from danger, whether its of normal, or paranormal sorts. That is why we get the cool toys like this one.
[Troy knocks on the chest plate of his suit, making a sound that suggests it's of a synthetic material rather than metallic despite the shine]

Sounds like your expertise would have been quite the asset for us a couple of months ago. There was an incident in which violent spirits were running rampant about Genessia. While the incident was resolved [For the most part.] it seems unlikely it will be the last paranormal incident and as advanced as Nova's technology is, our paranormal defenses have been determined to be.. Somewhat lacking.
Getting to the point; I would be interested in having an Agent such as yourself try out in joining my ranks. You do not have to decide right away, of course, but if you would like to take a look around our Headquarters or receive an overview of criminal activity after settling in, I could have that arranged.
[Beat.]
I should also note it pays quite well.

[The large salary is a plus, but what attracts Troy more about this opportunity was the idea of being a part of something, like he is back home. He loves having some purpose, and being offered this chance on his first day in Genessia put him in high spirits.
He's got a good feeling about this, and even if he does find something unappealing about Satsuki's offer later on, he could still consult on paranormal defenses for Nova City and her sister cities]
What kind of things should I expect if I take this job?
no subject
As you might imagine, I am a woman that works best in an environment of order and discipline. So what does this have to do with you? Well, as a Deputy you and a chosen few would have my support for Nova Bounties. Of course I would like information in return to help determine measures to prevent such instances from repeating themselves. I would also like you to perform various sorties using covert combat vehicles that, currently, are still in production.
[Beat.]
Frankly, there is a lot to expect, and I would prefer not to overwhelm you with the various projects I have right away. So perhaps you could tell me what you would like. What is your 'working style'? How do you believe your talents could be best used?
no subject
Understood. This job is starting to sound a lot better the more you talk about it.
[Troy pauses for a second, turning his attention to the road]
If you must know, my work style is simple. Give me a mission, and consider them done. Few things you should know is I try to avoid causing too much property damage, I'm a fan of order and discipline, and most of all I don't like being kept out of secrets.
[He works well with many kinds of people, but never with people who work for two masters at once. He feels he can't trust them, and he can't lead effectively when other agents have missions of their own. Of course, he also despises committing morally questionable acts, being a noble-hearted man that he is, but he doesn't think Satsuki is the type to make him do something like that. At least he hopes not]

[The vehicle reaches the Nova City archway at this point, at which point Satsuki lowers the forewindow to set hand upon the driver's shoulder.]
Those without necklaces are unable to pass through these archways without our assistance. [She notes.] That said, I asked in order to get a feel for your boundaries. There is a bit more to mention but are there any other questions before I continue.
no subject
[Troy watches as he enters the first Genessian archway he's ever seen, seeing Satsuki lowering the forewindow of the car from the corner of his eye. Troy looks at Satsuki as she finished speaking, answering her question with another of his own]
Which leads me to think who are the other agents I'll be working with?
no subject
[Satsuki waves her hand, and an image projects in front of the both of them. This is about the same time the vehicle suddenly shakes, then feels like it's hovering. That's because it is. Nova City is probably the most futuristic setting he'd ever seen, with numbers upon numbers of flashing neon lights, images, and aerial vehicles zipping along the intra-highway tunnels. Once outside there are far more, including buildings with somewhat lopsided architecture.
The image shows that of a short and very happy looking green haired girl adorn in a white-ish uniform with three black diamonds prominent on the front. She is identified as Koishi Komeiji.]
Koishi Komeiji is a satori yokai: a supernatural monster with the ability to manipulate consciousness. It takes a bit of discipline to willingly conceive her, and can perform various tricks of the mind. She can be.. Invasive of personal space, and flighty at times, but has proven to be a valuable ally.
There are two others that do not work specifically for the Guardians; you would recognize them as they do wear similar uniforms but they rarely work within Nova City. I should also note that I have had Deputy Guardians in the past- Unfortunately there are cases where people simply vanish. Presumably returned home by the spirits here.
It makes retraining and hiring aggravating, but the other part of the reason for the gaps is that I am picky about who I want by my side.
no subject
But he didn't linger on appreciating Nova City's futuristic beauty and focused on the other beauty talking to him. He listened intently and observed the holographic image of Koishi. He rubs his chin and leans slightly forward. A youkai with powers over the mind, he honestly hates having to deal with those kinds of monsters in his line of work]
I see. I'm honored you find me interesting enough.
[He pauses. Straightening up and leaning back against his seat once again]
I've dealt with my fair share of her kind. Glad this one is gonna be an ally... How long 'til we get to our destination?
no subject
Strolling about in that armor certainly helped. Also, I would like to hear more about that sometime. Where I come from, supernatural creatures have yet to be proven to exist.
The trip should only be another minute.. Our destination is there.
[Satsuki gestures to what is easily the highest tower in the cities entirety; sleek shaped with a shield-shaped symbol near the center.]
The old Guardian possessed quite the ego.. But in the end I decided this structure is a positive symbol in it's own right. This will not be a full tour, by the way. There are two areas in particular I would like to show you: the shooting range, and the combat bay.
[By the time the minute passed, the vehicle swooped toward a lower level then into a parking bay via the side of the building.]
no subject
Troy looked out to the window once more, seeing the highest spire in the city getting closer and closer. He soaks in the awesome view, even until they've reached the hangar. As the vehicle comes to a halt, Troy steps out of the car with his head held high. His smile loosened as he observes the entire hangar from where he stood.]
This isn't so bad. Not bad at all.
[He huffs with a pleased tune, waiting for Satsuki to step out of the car and show him the range and the combat bay she spoke of]
no subject
I did notice you did not appear very surprised when we first arrived. [Satsuki notes as they reach a particular rising door, which it's red light switches to blue. She waves her hand in front of it and it turns green, allowing them into the firing range. It could be best described as 'Tron-ish', with a whole lot of gridlines in front of each shooting booth.] Is your home that similar to Nova?
no subject
Yeah. Very. Minus the flying cars. They exist but you never see them within city limits because of the law preventing any crazies crashing them into buildings. Other than that, I might as well think I've been brought back home just now.
[Troy looks down at the glass in the hallway they were at, seeing the vastness of the spire and the humanoids calling it home. As the reinforced door slid back, Troy focused his attention forward and enter the shooting range. He lets out an impressed whistle at the sight. It's very organized and well-maintained just the way he likes it]
Damn. Now that, is awesome.
no subject
[Troy could likely guess she refers to using criminal punishment. Satsuki can't help but feel a sense of pride in response to Troy's reaction to the shooting range. It's not like she put it together herself, nor does she have much experience in using firearms, but dammit she'll take it.]
I am pleased it meets your approval. Whether you decide to join or not, I would still like to ask for your input in assembling a training area that better prepares for subduing supernatural creatures.
no subject
What you have so far here is great for practicing the basics.
[Troy places the rifle back in the exact spot he picked it up from before turning his attention back to Satsuki]
For fighting against supers, you'll need a new room entirely. We have a room like that back home. In fact I'm plannin' on making a subarchway to one of the cities I know, and I could pick up the schematics from there so you could rebuild it here.
no subject
Intriguing; so you have already made the decision to open one. I would be quite interested in your offer as well as observing the general area, however. Thank you.
[Followed by a steady nod.]
Then the final section should be of interest to you as well- I have received feedback from a pilot and soldier, but I would be interested in your opinion as well.
[She takes the lead once more, and after a descent down an elevator, the two arrive at another garage. This is again populated by mechanical droids, which are working on a vehicle that could be best described as a heavily armored spider.]
This is a personal tank, which seats and is piloted by only one person. Its purpose is to handle events that would normally call for a strike team, and allows beings that do not possess superhuman abilities to 'keep up', per se.
The tanks appearance is designed to deter panic of such forces being released. Until now I hadn't considered a pilot having to wear armor though, so I am afraid you may not fit inside.
It is capable of scaling walls, carries several forms of heavy artillery and restraining mechanisms, and can reach speeds of up to two-hundred seventy miles per hour. In your opinion, if this vehicle were capable of carrying an armored individual, would something like this seem useful to you?
no subject
Once the elevator doors opened, Troy soaked in the image of the parked mechanical droids and the garage's interior. He was a step behind Satsuki as they both exit the elevator, observing the entire complex with his head high and lips loose. He turns his focus to her as soon as she spoke]
Your people made this?
[Troy steps beside Satsuki to get a better view of the entire complex from where she stood.]
I'd like to see it in action first before I can really give you an opinion, but I can definitely say I don't need to ride one. 270 miles is good against D-class supers. May be too slow for C-classes unless you swarm 'em...
[Troy sucks his teeth, scratching his jaw before speaking again. His suit allows him to move at incredible speeds, even without using the built-in thrusters. So right now, he thinks these spider drones would only be useful to him for building security or back-up like he used his drones back home]
That's how we classify threat levels of enhanced individuals in my world. It doesn't exactly apply here, especially since I have yet to see one.
[He pauses]
How powerful are the threats you've seen in Genessia's cities so far? Do you have other machines in store here? These sound good, but you'll need more speed than what these babies have if you want to deal with really tough ones.
no subject
[She may actually seem a bit embarrassed. Vehicle design is most certainly not her strongest suit, but thankfully these droids were able to make various calculations and suggestions for her. But in the end, they just aren't human.
He has her utmost attention as he gives his thoughts, and she doesn't even need to pause to consider the answer to his question. However Satsuki does withdraw a device from her pocket and use it to take down his thoughts.]
The threats vary in severity; in one scenario an anomaly caused the robotic staff in a power plant to go berserk. In another, a satanic creature set Genessia City ablaze. The second would be the rarer of the situations but even in times such as those the vehicles should be able to perform exceptionally well during evacuations, rescues, and collateral damage control.
We possess no other vehicles like these; there are 'normal' tanks and squad cars otherwise. The former Guardian was a professional roboticist and was able to create robots with myriads of purposes; once he vanished, many of his creations became inoperable.
no subject
[Troy didn't ask, but in his mind he wonders if that demonic creature was one of them, pendant-wearers who woke up here against their wills. Weiss gave him a list of pendant-wearers to look out for. They all seem human from the looks of it, but that doesn't mean they can't transform or summon a demonic-looking creature.
Troy puts one hand on the railing overlooking the garage, with his other hand on his hip as he focused his attention on the vehicles below him, already imagining how he could use them to his advantage and what other things he could do to improve them.]
It might be a long shot, but if the tech in my world cooperates with the tech used to make those spider tanks, we could give them a decent upgrade. I'm going to have to check it out up close after we're done with the tour. Is there another place you're planning on showing me, boss?
[And with one word in the form of an affectionate nickname, Troy expresses his acceptance to take this job as Satsuki's deputy.]
no subject
['Boss'. Such a lovely ring to it, though still unexpected in the sense that she's normally addressed as 'Lady Satsuki'. Obviously he doesn't know that.]
That is acceptable.
[Somewhat. Having him snooping around without a bit more understanding of his technology doesn't really seem to be the wisest move, but since he appears interested in showing off his phat loot, she can put him through the training grill later.]
And no, that will be all today. I appreciate you taking your time to meet my requests. There is one last thing you should know: Guardian Elections will coming up in December. Naturally I have no intention of losing, having run two terms thus far, but I make it a point to always have a plan B in hand. It'd be best to discuss that further after you pass your official assessment, but I believe it only fair to mention now than later.
no subject
[Troy extends his arm to shake Satsuki's hand and pretty much seal the deal. He's aware that he hasn't told much about himself and his technology while he got to see a glimpse of what the Nova City Guardian Office's capabilities. But that would remain priviledged information until Satsuki herself tell him what she can do. He's got a feeling they'll both surprise each other with their capabilities in battle.]
