I'll give him a PIZZA MY MIND ROFLMHOOMGLOLOLOLOL

WHO: Captain Hammer, OPEN!
WHAT: Hammer's organized a little meet 'n greet over pizza, his treat. What a nice superhero!
WHEN: November 27, 2013 - 7:00 p.m.
WHERE: Geraldi's Pizzeria - Genessia City
NOTES: Both prose and [action] tags are fine! There's also no pose order. GO NUTS. Don't forget to add your tag!

There's something very inviting about a pizza parlor. The combination of spices never fails to set a man's stomach to grumbling, and Captain Hammer is no exception. He's arrived twenty minutes early to put down an order for three extra large pies, figuring that would probably be enough to feed the ones who responded to his proposition. And if more arrive, they'll just order a few more pizzas.

He figured this was a good way for the people stuck in this weird little dump to know who they could befriend (each other) and who they could rely on to punch villains in the face (and that would be him).

The pizzas were set out on a long, high table ringed by barstools. There were plates, napkins, forks for the weak, a basket of breadsticks, a pitcher of root beer on one end, and a pitcher of real beer on the other. Hammer himself was perched on one of the barstools, enjoying a slice of pizza heaped with pepperoni and olives. One boot rested on the floor, the other was hooked on the lowermost rung of his barstool.

"Dust" Sofia nods while registering that to her brain. She knows of a lot of power sources from different worlds, since her employers are always on the lookout for new magic, technology, or magitechnology that they could absorb into their own designs.

"Right. You'll need supplies of this Dust..." Sofia scratches her chin while thinking of ways to help. Her employers could always deliver in some Dust or other materials if an agent requested, but that's if the higher ranks would allow it. They never do without good reason to avoid multiversal political disputes about jurisdiction.

"Can you still fight without relying on Dust?" Sofia likes Blake, Ruby, and Yang so far. They all remind her of people back home and a little bit of herself. Since she is practically a walking fusion reactor, sharing fractions of the Venator's battery power to make their weapons function might work as a temporary solution. But she never tried it on Dust-based tech before...

I see. Well, I can understand that.

Blake nods. The main city seemed safe enough but she had done some exploring and knew that there were dangers in the other regions. Plus, she wasn't willing to bet on this city staying safe forever.

"Of course." Even without Dust, she had her Aura and semblance to fight with as well as her skills. Dust was a powerful tool, but it was still just that, a tool, and not something to be relied on alone. "... I could create one of those Archways, but...."

She lets that hang in the air. Creating an Archway came with a price, it would cost something precious to her, and there wasn't much she was willing to give up.

As far as Sofia's concerned, no place is truly safe. So that's another thing Blake and Sofia are on the same page on. She's been through ruins of places once deemed impenetrable by god-like beings, how much more with a regular city like this. But the mention of Archways got Sofia thinking of her previous idea of creating an Archway back home, but since she has access to the Nexus, creating a bridge back home is redundant and unnecessary, especially when there's a price for it. Not to mention gateways from other worlds are prohibited by her employers in the first place. It would get shut down before she even makes it to the other end of that gate.

Sofia just leans back on her chair. "I can't say I'm willing to give up something of mine just to create an Archway. We could all make do of what we have here. This place isn't so bad compared to... some worlds I've been to before, where food and water are worth more than gold" Sofia shrugged like suffering of that level isn't a big deal to her anymore. Sofia used to look more at the bright side of things in life, but seeing worlds like that just really made her question things and slowly descend to being completely jaded.

Who had any use for gold? Food, water, shelter, all of these things had always been of greater importance to Blake. Perhaps Remnant wasn't the worst world Sofia had seen, but seeing a world and living in it were two different things. Blake had seen too much of her own home's cruelty and violence to not come out of it more than a little jaded herself.

Still, something Sofia said gets a frown out of her.

"Wait. You can travel between worlds? Have you tried leaving this place yet?"

"Traveling worlds is part of my job" Sofia takes a sip of tea. "I'm on leave for the moment, my boss insisted that I rest for a while, and my requests to go back to work fall on deaf ears it seems" Sofia glanced to her side, a somber look managed to sneak itself out of Sofia's carefree facade for a split second before she looked at Blake again, with a easy-going curl of her lips that look genuine but aren't. Sofia's been keeping it from the world rather well, but her last mission was a Pyrrhic victory that's been eating away at her.

"I don't have an official job title, but we call simply call ourselves 'Preventers'. Anything from monsters invading human cities and other supernatural threats, it's our job to stop those before they happen" Sofia didn't feel too confident on the inside when describing her job as a preventer, because they're not always successful. Her last mission was an example of that.

Any other time, Blake would have been truly fascinated by the idea of moving between worlds and would have wanted to hear as much as she could about these other places. Right now, though, there's only one thing on her mind.

"Does that mean you can use... whatever it is to leave here?" It might be a longshot, but if it means getting back home, Blake will try for it.

[personal profile] trigram 2013-12-03 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I can, yes" Sofia nods. Sofia didn't figure Blake's intentions from her question and how she looks right now, because of troubling thoughts about her last mission brewing in her mind. "I can leave anytime I feel like, but it's in my contract that I have to take a break even though I don't see the need for it. I go back unannounced, I might lose my job"
descendsfromshadow: (Seriously?)

[personal profile] descendsfromshadow 2013-12-03 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Blake just finds herself staring for a moment. Trapped in an unfamiliar, unknown place, dragged in by some kind of alien force....

And this woman is worried about losing her job.

"But what about the rest of us? Could you help us get back home, or at least contact somebody and tell them what's going on here?"

Don't mind the other response

[personal profile] trigram 2013-12-03 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Sofia sighed through her nose. She felt an amount of regret for telling Blake about her world-crossing ability. She's so off her game right now that she didn't realize the girl might be homesick and ask for a ride home.

"I can't take you home through the methods I use. You will need something similar to a passport to be able to go to the Nexus" Sofia paused. "As for you getting pulled into an alien world, that's going to take a lot of explaining..."

What other response?

[personal profile] descendsfromshadow 2013-12-06 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Blake sighs as well. Somehow, she knew it couldn't have been that easy but for a moment, she had hoped. Still, she'll drop the subject. For now.

"So, does that mean you have some idea about what this... place is?"
trigram: (Default)

I made two different replies, it's no biggie.

[personal profile] trigram 2013-12-06 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes. It's just a world with a much higher magic limits than mine and a rather newly formed one. It's kind of sits in the middle of the Tree given how easy making Archways are compared to other worlds. Some require more drastic methods" Sofia shrugged.
descendsfromshadow: (Seriously?)

Just playing along.

Blake frowns a little bit. She doesn't really know what Sofia's talking about, but the basic concept seemed straightforward enough.

"Okay, but that doesn't explain why we're here. Or why this place wants us to give something up to make an Archway that leads to a bad copy of our homes."

"You're here because this world, or the Powers that control it if you believe in those, chose you. You possess something, a trait that they like and want to have in their new world. Once you enter this place, that trait you have would become part of this world even after you leave" Sofia didn't expect to be explaining this while on vacation. It only makes her miss work more. But Sofia pulls her translucent cellphone out and puts it on the table. It looks like a piece of glass until she touched it, and a fully colored hologram appeared in front of herself and Blake. Images of past case files showing pictures of people with blue markings on their skin.

"For example, I knew this ethnic group from one of my missions. We called them the Ylyans. They possessed a unique ability to convert water into a solid object that isn't ice. They could shape it to whatever way they want, and as dense as they could. They even used it as weapons strong enough to cut through bronze. We got reports of a lot of them suddenly missing from their native universe. Showing up in newly born worlds just like this one we're in. Even when we got them back home, new reports came in and showed native people from worlds the Ylyans were taken to, began showing similar abilities" Sofia slides the holographic images, showing a new group. "Now these people can do the same things the Ylyans could, just with oil, the others with their own blood, and then this group can do the opposite and turn solid objects into liquid..."
