I'll give him a PIZZA MY MIND ROFLMHOOMGLOLOLOLOL

WHO: Captain Hammer, OPEN!
WHAT: Hammer's organized a little meet 'n greet over pizza, his treat. What a nice superhero!

There's something very inviting about a pizza parlor. The combination of spices never fails to set a man's stomach to grumbling, and Captain Hammer is no exception. He's arrived twenty minutes early to put down an order for three extra large pies, figuring that would probably be enough to feed the ones who responded to his proposition. And if more arrive, they'll just order a few more pizzas.

He figured this was a good way for the people stuck in this weird little dump to know who they could befriend (each other) and who they could rely on to punch villains in the face (and that would be him).

The pizzas were set out on a long, high table ringed by barstools. There were plates, napkins, forks ~~for the weak~~, a basket of breadsticks, a pitcher of root beer on one end, and a pitcher of real beer on the other. Hammer himself was perched on one of the barstools, enjoying a slice of pizza heaped with pepperoni and olives. One boot rested on the floor, the other was hooked on the lowermost rung of his barstool.

Ding-a-ling! The bells to the parlor chimed as Karina stepped into the parlor. Free food was pretty good bait for her, 'specially since she's new and hasn't gotten used to anything yet. And if a cute guy was treating, so much the better. Additionally, hanging out with friends was one of her favorite past-times back home, so maybe she could round up a few gal pals.

With little decorum, Karina plopped her butt on the seat and helped herself. Walking all that way was exhausting. Her past with rural living had made her so used to walking everywhere that she had completely blanked out on the connection between cities and taxis, a service she'd no doubt make use of once she got her thoughts in order.

"'Ning. (Is he a real superhero?)"

Lazy girl, meet active girl. Ruby's already mowing down on a plateful of bread sticks when she catches sight of Korina sit down.

"Hemmph. I'ummm Rumphy, Nice toummm meeeepht yoouu." She'll say with a full mouth. She's charming, she swears.

Sofia heard of a meet-and-greet over pizza at a restaurant. This would be a good place to get information, so she decided to go. Entering the pizza parlor with hands in her pocket and coat collar popped, Sofia shifts her eyes around to get a good feel of the place. She's always this uptight and alert, never so trusting of places and strangers.

Though she doesn't have much of an opinion when it comes to pizza, she admits it does smell good and inviting in this place. The smell of pizza was all to familiar for Sofia, having lived near an Italian pizzaria in New York in her youth. The smell of melted cheese brought back memories.

"Reminds me of home..."

Blake has timed her arrival so that she isn't one of the first people to get there, mostly in an effort to avoid getting stuck in any one-on-one conversations.

Now that she's there, she's sitting at the end of the table making new friends and socializing--haha, no. It looks like she's already stumbled across the library and already has a book open in front of her while occasionally pausing to take a small bite of the pizza slice on the table beside her.

"Hello," Hammer returned the greeting, regarding Karina with a curious, sidelong glance. Where did this one come from? He didn't remember seeing her show up on the network, but he had guessed that some of the shyer folks might come out once free food was on the menu.

She didn't appear to be particularly dangerous or evil, so that was one more face he could put on his 'do not punch' list. The more who appeared on that list, the better.

Now to see if anyone who actually needed a heroic beating dared to show his face.

"And who might you be?"

"Nice, isn't it?" Hammer replied congenially enough. That made two faces in the parlor that he didn't recognize, but he had no complaints. This particular face was pretty enough, and every city could use more of those around.

"Where are you from, miss...?" he prompted.

So she made good on her promise! Such was the power of free food; it was pretty clear Blake wasn't here to make friends and influence people.

Try that book next.

"Aren't you worried you might get pizza grease on the pages?" Captain Hammer asked, pouring himself a glass of beer before easing another slice of pizza onto his plate.

She responds with an agreeing "Mm" while she walked closer to where Hammer was sitting and kept scanning the surroundings. She finally looked him in the eye when he asked where she was from.

"In one of many quintillion New York cities in the multiverse" She responded with a curl on her lip, sitting one seat away from Hammer.

"That many?! Get out of town," he laughed. A multiverse. That was an interesting and plausible theory about this Genessia place. Maybe it was some sort of hub...or, more accurately, an accidental knot.

"I'm from L.A. myself. Captain Hammer," he introduced himself, offering a gloved hand.

Free pizza? Well Ruby was one of the first people here for that. She may have even left before Yang was ready to make sure she didn't miss out on any Pizza.

...Meeting people could come second, pizza was waaaay more important than social interactions.

So there she is at one of the tables enjoying a slice... or two... or three... Man she could eat fast.

"Your first name is Captain?" Sofia raised an eyebrow and smiled, but of course she knows his first name isn't that. But she shook his hand regardless, slightly impressed at his strong grip.

Nice, she'd get to introduce herself to two people at once. That would save time.

"Karina", she said, eyeing both of them. She gave a slight smile at Ruby's voracity. Reminds her of a certain blonde-haired glutton she knew back home, with a similar ability to really put things away.

She liked Captain Hammer too, even if he was a bit cheesy. (lol!) Like he'd never expect much of her or sweep her off her feet, or something. Ooh, that gave her a brilliant idea to stir the pot (OR THE OVEN, LOL!)

She eyed Ruby, then Hammer. "So like, are you two dating?"

"If you like," he responded with a grin and a wink, careful not to crush her delicate hand. "You haven't told me your name yet. Sorry to say, psychic powers aren't in my skill set."

"Man you can eat fast," Captain Hammer pointed out. He wasn't about to neglect his new fan. Some of the people in this place were oddly prickly, so he preferred to spend his time on those who actually appreciated his company. "You must have a killer metabolism. Like myself!"

He could eat nothing but Twinkies and still look as good as he did.

And Ruby spits out a bread stick at that.

"Dating? NoIdon'tevenknowhim.Wejusttalkedonceoverthecommunicator!arepeoplesayingthat?OhmygodwhatamIgoingtotellYang."

Hey, he was buying them pizza. That was enough for her to be a fan. She quickly finished the slice she was working on then looked to him with a smile.

"Oh yeah! Plus I get tons of exercise. So I'll be good!" She can't let herself get rusty with Crescent Rose after all.

Captain Hammer's reaction, on the other hand, was a deeply amused belly laugh with a He-Man-esque tip back of the head. Oh ho ho chortle chortle!

"Miss Ruby is a little too young to be legally dating someone like me. But she's a lovely lady, and," he glanced at Ruby, "if you need any assistance beating off suitors with more than a stick, just give me a call."

Nothing said 'charming' like offering to beat up a bunch of lovesick adolescent males!

"Glad to hear it! Here, allow me." He filled her glass with beer...ROOT beer! Ah ha ha!

"Now, if I'm not mistaken, you're a superhero in training. Is that right?" he asked, before enjoying another bite of pizza. The elaborate get-up suggested that was the case, whether or not she'd brought her weapon along with her.

"Ooooh thanks." And she'll quickly take a drink of that root beer once it's poured.

"Superhero? Not quite." But honestly being a superhero sounds pretty awesome. It's like super and a hero all in one. That's cool.

"Back where I'm from I am training to be a huntress though, which kind of sounds like the same thing. They fight monsters and keep the people safe."

Ruby'll let Blake have her space at first, but eventually she'll slide right up beside Blake and try to look at what she's reading.

"So... What's this one about?"

Free food and the chance to get a feel for the other people she was going to be stuck sharing this city with. She knew her team and Jaune well enough, but everyone else was an unknown, and although Blake wasn't exactly engaging, she was paying closer attention than might have been apparent.

Take this Hammer guy for instance.

"Not really." As if to prove her point, she picked up her slice of pizza and took another small bite before setting it down and carefully wiped any such grease off of her fingers on a napkin beside the plate and turning the next page. She glanced over the top of the book. "I've had plenty of practice at doing this."

Normally, Blake would not be especially happy with all this reading over her shoulder shenanigans, but this is Ruby, and by now she's an exception to that particular rule. Blake turns the book a little so Ruby can see it clearer.

"It's a book of poems. This one's about a sailor who wound up stranded at sea after accidentally cursing his ship."

"Trust me, you wouldn't want to" Sofia scoffed. She experienced telepathy for a day before. It was one of the worst experiences she had. "I'm Sofia. Sofia Sinclair" she smiled, pushing her hair back behind her ear.

Ruby worked hard to be an exception to this rule and is proud of the fact that she is. She also appreciates it when Blake turns to the book enough that she can get a good look at it.

There are still some books that Blake will freak out and not let Ruby read or find out what they're about and she's not exactly sure why. She's glad this isn't one of those times.

"Oh? How'd he manage that?" The beginning was on the last page so she's a bit behind. Sorry for the backseat reading Blake.

"I think we'll get along just fine, then," Captain Hammer reflected. "My job is to protect people too. But the only monsters we have, are the monsters who prey on innocent, weak civilians just trying to earn an honest day's pay. ...Or picking on bums too, I guess."

The first part still sounded cool in his mind, though.

"Either way, we may end up working together fighting the rising tide of evil in this city. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do."
