There's something very inviting about a pizza parlor. The combination of spices never fails to set a man's stomach to grumbling, and Captain Hammer is no exception. He's arrived twenty minutes early to put down an order for three extra large pies, figuring that would probably be enough to feed the ones who responded to his proposition. And if more arrive, they'll just order a few more pizzas.

He figured this was a good way for the people stuck in this weird little dump to know who they could befriend (each other) and who they could rely on to punch villains in the face (and that would be him).

The pizzas were set out on a long, high table ringed by barstools. There were plates, napkins, forks for the weak, a basket of breadsticks, a pitcher of root beer on one end, and a pitcher of real beer on the other. Hammer himself was perched on one of the barstools, enjoying a slice of pizza heaped with pepperoni and olives. One boot rested on the floor, the other was hooked on the lowermost rung of his barstool.

"Nice, isn't it?" Hammer replied congenially enough. That made two faces in the parlor that he didn't recognize, but he had no complaints. This particular face was pretty enough, and every city could use more of those around.

"Where are you from, miss...?" he prompted.

She responds with an agreeing "Mm" while she walked closer to where Hammer was sitting and kept scanning the surroundings. She finally looked him in the eye when he asked where she was from.

"In one of many quintillion New York cities in the multiverse" She responded with a curl on her lip, sitting one seat away from Hammer.

"That many?! Get out of town," he laughed. A multiverse. That was an interesting and plausible theory about this Genessia place. Maybe it was some sort of hub...or, more accurately, an accidental knot.

"I'm from L.A. myself. Captain Hammer," he introduced himself, offering a gloved hand.

"Your first name is Captain?" Sofia raised an eyebrow and smiled, but of course she knows his first name isn't that. But she shook his hand regardless, slightly impressed at his strong grip.

"If you like," he responded with a grin and a wink, careful not to crush her delicate hand. "You haven't told me your name yet. Sorry to say, psychic powers aren't in my skill set."

"Trust me, you wouldn't want to" Sofia scoffed. She experienced telepathy for a day before. It was one of the worst experiences she had. "I'm Sofia. Sofia Sinclair" she smiled, pushing her hair back behind her ear.

"A lovely name for a lovely lady," Captain Hammer smiled. "Rolls right off the tongue. Can I get you a beer? Soda?" He'd offer wine if it were a nicer establishment, but he hadn't truly been expecting anyone to show up that might have started exhibiting any signals of interest. The hair tuck was usually a good sign, in his experience.

[That managed to make Sofia blush for a second until she looked away. It's rare for men to compliment her, and she's kind of curious on what it's like to be in a relationship before her 30's. She just never had any luck when it comes to guys. She cleared her throat]

Do they serve tea in here? Any kind would be fine.

[Tea? At a pizza parlor? Probably not. But she's talking to the right guy at least.]

Give me fifteen seconds.

[Suddenly he speeds out the door. Time passes. And fifteen seconds on the dot later, Hammer whirls back into the parlor, a lidded paper cup of chai tea latte in his hand.]

[Sofia raised an eyebrow slightly at Captain Hammer's super speed. Taking note of that for the future in case she would need allies]

[Sofia chuckled while she takes a small sip of tea. It was okay in terms of taste, but it would do]

So, Captain. What you did just now, and your name, are you some sort of superhero back home?

I'm pretty much THE superhero in Los Angeles. The only one with any real powers, anyway.

[There are plenty of posers, but no one gets the job done the way he does.]

That's a very astute observation.

[Sofia smiled. She'd brag about being observant, but her Genre Savviness made it clear to her that Captain Hammer is a superhero. Not to mention it's her job to face the ones who turned their backs on the innocent]

That's... super. What powers do you possess and how did you get them?

Enhanced strength, enhanced speed, enhanced endurance...everything works at peak performance.

[He grins a little wider.]

And I do mean everything.

[Hammer no, there are kids at this table.]

[Yeah, that caught Sofia off-guard a bit. Her cheeks turned red at that last comment]

Oh that's... Quite impressive, indeed.

[She looked to her drink in embarrassment. She's so bad at this]
