There's something very inviting about a pizza parlor. The combination of spices never fails to set a man's stomach to grumbling, and Captain Hammer is no exception. He's arrived twenty minutes early to put down an order for three extra large pies, figuring that would probably be enough to feed the ones who responded to his proposition. And if more arrive, they'll just order a few more pizzas.

He figured this was a good way for the people stuck in this weird little dump to know who they could befriend (each other) and who they could rely on to punch villains in the face (and that would be him).

The pizzas were set out on a long, high table ringed by barstools. There were plates, napkins, forks for the weak, a basket of breadsticks, a pitcher of root beer on one end, and a pitcher of real beer on the other. Hammer himself was perched on one of the barstools, enjoying a slice of pizza heaped with pepperoni and olives. One boot rested on the floor, the other was hooked on the lowermost rung of his barstool.

Captain Hammer's reaction, on the other hand, was a deeply amused belly laugh with a He-Man-esque tip back of the head. Oh ho ho chortle chortle!

"Miss Ruby is a little too young to be legally dating someone like me. But she's a lovely lady, and," he glanced at Ruby, "if you need any assistance beating off suitors with more than a stick, just give me a call."

Nothing said 'charming' like offering to beat up a bunch of lovesick adolescent males!

"Oh. (That's boring)" She swished the straw in her mug of root beer. She considered pressing on, asking her favorite questions like what's her type, if she saw any cute guys, but something Cherise said about rent reminded her of more urgent matters.

"Have you settled in yet?"

A topic change? Why thank you very much. She'll giggle at Hammer's response but move right on to answering Karina's question. She doesn't need to be embarrassed anymore, thank you very much.

"Getting there. I moved into an apartment and then my sister showed up! So now we're getting her moved in and settled too."

Captain Hammer listened as Ruby responded, waiting until she was finished before he nodded in turn. "I found a modest little place too. No sisters for me, though. And what about yourself?" he said, taking a quick slug of his beer. "Did you decide where you're going to stay?"

"*sigh* No. (what a pain)" Evening ruined. The thought of rent had been occupying her thoughts for some time. She'd procrastinated as long as she could, and decided to summon up enough effort to ask but one person. Only, she also had a roomie. Denied.

Her eyes scanned around the room, looking for any other women who might want to split a place.
