(Marie appears to be smiling when she fires up the video feed. Her eyes still show some concern, but she seems more relaxed compared to the last time she had felt compelled to send any kind of message out into the world. If the more at ease demeanor escapes whoever is watching, she appears differently in the sense that she is dressed much more warmly (she quickly relearned how much she missed the ocean and being warm, the only chill she could stand was one created by a breeze late at night) with a black hoodie (one that looks much like varsity jacket and a black conductor hat - her long blonde curls had been tucked back into a ponytail.)
Behind her looks like a group of scooters, one outdoor table with two chairs, and a sign stating to inquire about rentals inside.
In other words, she seems to be adapting to the changes well. Or she's trying her best to do so.)
So, uh, hey? I wanted to thank everyone for their help when I first showed up here.
But, in my case, I wanted to let people know about my shop...once it's open which should be tomorrow or the day after if I get everything done as I plan... But, anyway, I'm renting and selling scooters. I used to do that for a while and I kind of missed doing it and well, uh, I know this isn't exactly a beach town so maybe this sort of thing isn't too needed, but well...I'm also going to sell drinks too and I'd like to repay them with one on the house.
Just don't mind the baby duckling - if he's around. (Not a literal duckling.)

Re: ( action )
(She looks very confused by this, a slight head tilt.)
And besides...
(She sighs.)
I...I don't like talking about mine very much. Minus the couple of stories, but you've already heard those... you'd only get annoyed at the rest. It's...uh, kind of...second verse, same as the first. But, you know, with all of it.
( action )
Re: ( action )
(She frowns and glances down. Then she sighs, she knows that this is something she would eventually be asked about, but it's something she never really wanted to talk about.)
...you do know me already.
(she is quiet for a little bit then looks up.) I suppose...it's fair...what do you want to know?
( action )
Tell me about where you're from.
Re: ( action )
(She raises an eyebrow. Were they going to start off with the easy ones and move their way up in difficulty?)
Hannover, well... a little outside of it...
( action )
Why'd you leave?
Re: ( action )
Why do you want to know that? It doesn't matter why I left. I just wanted to leave... (It was such a cliche. The reason. It was partly embarrassing, but mostly it still really hurt.) You know, the reason any screw up leaves home? They're a screw up. Good for nothing...
(She tries to wiggle herself free at this point, much like a small child, but stops.)
I didn't have a reason to stay. Look, it's...stupid. But, my mother ran out when I was small, my father got remarried and died, stepmother abandoned us with my grandmother...you know, people talk...it was a known fact we're a family of screw ups...so of course, no one gives you a chance, you're pretty much ignored, so you know...you stop going to school, shoplift, do whatever you want to do, and one day I just went "You know...this place isn't me..." and you just leave. Go wherever you want, do what you have to do...
Simple...
( action )
So...you've been running for a lot longer than you've known me.
Re: ( action )
(She used to tell herself that and hearing what it really was said out loud, well, it touches another nerve and she turns around sharply and bites her lip. She had spent so long telling herself that it wasn't running away from something and - well, doing that helped her be okay with any situation she found herself in after leaving.
She tries to explain what it was, if not running, and Jason could probably hear her mumbling "It was..." a few times in German before she finally spoke in English.)
It was...I don't know, but it wasn't running...and even if it was...it wasn't...
(She sighs.) It doesn't matter.
( action )
Running isn't a bad thing, Marie. Sometimes it's all we can do.
Re: ( action )
...But, most of the time? It's not. Not exactly. It might be the smartest thing, yes, but that doesn't mean you have to do it...
(She shakes her head. She isn't exactly sure how to explain how she feels about things. She had never really ever thought about it, only pushed it deep down. She had started to only think about it just before arriving in this place.
She doesn't regret leaving at all, though.)
...And I never regretting leaving. That's all it was. I didn't belong there so I left when I realized it. It was that or stay and be miserable forever. (All the money and worse trouble that followed, nah, she isn't going to think about that part.) Honestly? If I had my way, I'd never go back, ever.
( action )
I don't think you have to worry about that.
Re: ( action )
(She sighs and she might just hug him more and press herself as close as she can.
After a moment, she asks.)
...is...something the matter?
( action )
I just wish I could give you everything you deserve.
Re: ( action )
Everything I deserve? (She looks a little miffed at that.) I'm happy with you, you...you...idiot. So, what... that isn't enough? I think that's more than enough for me...
( action )
[He meets her eyes with his urgency. No, really, that's all he wants right now.]
Re: ( action )
It is enough.
(She shakes her head now, feeling the miffed feeling rising right back up. In fact, she might be giving him her best "angry" face now. Though, she feels sad too.)
...I don't feel threatened and I think I'm as safe as I'll ever be. (She pauses, her eyes narrowing some.) Something's wrong. Tell me.
( action )
[He pauses, then looks to her sadly.]
I'm only scared of one thing, you know that?
Re: ( action )
(She pauses.)
No, I didn't... (She frowns.) do you mind me asking what it is?
( action )
Losing you.
Re: ( action )
Then she lets go.)
Losing me?
...I'm a bad cold, you can't easily lose me. Or a magnet. Something...
(If only she knew, but she really is confused by this and honestly, hearing something like that. It makes her more uncomfortable than she knows she should feel about it.
She tries to turn around, something to make things seem a little less...whatever this is.)
....
( action )
But...I'm stuck with you, huh?
Re: ( action )
Then she realizes he's laughing.)
Don't laugh! (Her confusion/embarrassment/feelings from moments before all but mostly forgotten now.) It's not funny...I was being serious here. Serious.
(But to answer that question.)
Of course you are stuck with me. You've been stuck with me for a long time now and well... (A pause. She then changes what she is about to say.) I mean, unless you...don't want to be anymore...
( action )
Re: ( action )
(She sighs. She supposes she has her answer now and she decides to leave it at that. That was enough.)
I don't know, I just...thought I should ask is all. I mean, you're kind of a mystery sometimes... (A little joke, see, here's a little smile to go with it.
She might have grabbed onto him again, this time a bit more playfully than before.)
And you did say that. (A pause.) You're all I want and you're always going to have a hard time getting rid of me. You can't really scare me off.
