Action
[Nearly two weeks since the incident on Halloween, and Conan had spent his time attempting to occupy himself while avoiding certain questions from Kid and Dairine. He would have been quite happy to keep the incident in his memories and nightmares, where it belonged.
He certainly did not want to explain or answer any of the questions he was sure they had.
So today he was out on his skateboard exploring Genessia and Attleton. Among other things, this last incident spurred his decision that it was long past time to move out of the children's home. And long past time to explore what other housing options there were.]

[And he didn't intend to go into the details of that time any more. ]
Snake, is it. [Now that was very interesting. A code name, but one that wasn't based on an alcoholic beverage. Was it the same organization after all? Or was there more than one branch?
It seemed a stretch to think that there could be two organizations with similar MOs operating in the same area.
Although, come to think of it.... Could it be referring to habushu or snake wine?
And what? He'd been shot?]
....Just how many times have you been shot at at heists?
[Because if this had happened more than the two times he know of, Conan wanted to know why he hadn't heard about it. He doesn't bother worrying. If Kid was still here, he hadn't been injured that badly. ]

[Poisoned, huh. That explained a lot and absolutely nothing at all at the same time. Then again, that's not surprising, from what he's seen of the detective. And considering that nightmare of his, he can't deny that the paranoia was warranted.
Two organizations operating in close quarters in a place like Tokyo without some sort of gang warfare going on? Not likely as far as KID was concerned, which was one of the reasons he felt that he could talk freely with Kudo about them.
Hakuba had no clue, neither did Nakamori. Akako might have suspicions, but there wasn't anything she could do. It would be a cold day in hell before Aoko ever learned of any of this. But not for the first time, he wondered how much his mother knew and Jii-chan knew. Kuroba Chikage was the former Phantom Lady, she knew the underground probably better then he did and he didn't doubt for a moment that she didn't know what had happened to Toichi. Jii-chan knew the basics, that it was murder, that Toichi had been looking for Pandora, but...
Wait.
What the hell did he just say? Fountain of Youth?
No. Freakin'. Way.
KID studied mini-Kudo for a long moment, mentally shaking his head. He wasn't sure if that was something he wanted to consider.
He gives a one shoulder shrug.]
I've lost count, to be honest.
no subject
What? [Something about that look Kid had just given him was making Conan feel edgy.]
no subject
[He contemplates the detective for a moment.]
A passing thought, one that I'm hoping isn't true. Tell me, Tantei-kun, why do you think I do this?
[He's curious to know how much the other has deduced. And if there is a connection, then Kudo has the right to know.]
no subject
[He would be watching now, at every heist he made it to.]
Oh? You'll forgive me if I don't feel flattered. Why me? I'm sure there are plenty of other detectives who attend your heists.
[But that last comment causes him to break off into silence for a moment as he organizes his thoughts.]
I know you have a reason. And it isn't for the challenge or for the sake of stealing. It's something you think is more important than that. And whatever it is, you haven't found it yet.
[He shrugs.]
Up until now, it hasn't concerned me enough to dig further. [Because for all the effort he put into them at the time, the truth was that the heists were largely incidental to Conan. His first priority was going after murderers and the organization.]
no subject
Although if you don't keep an eye on yourself, I'm not above using my likeness to Mouri-chan's boyfriend to let it slip that her charge might be getting into trouble at KID heists. I will not have you put yourself in harm's way, Meitantei, and I know very well your track record with that.
[A low blow, perhaps, but KID's tone shows he's serious.]
Tantei-san, but he's such a bore. He can't keep up with me the way you do.
[And Kudo plays by the unspoken rule: during heists, everything is fair game, outside, however... KID dare thinks that if they hadn't meet as they had, they could have been friends.]
I haven't, no. For all intents and purposes, I've been chasing a myth. One that They will kill for, have killed for.
A myth that, up until a few moments ago, I believed more likely then not, didn't exist.
no subject
[It sounded like Kid might dislike Hakuba just as much as Hattori did. ]
What kind of myth?
[After his years in Paradisa, Conan knew better than to discount any myth out of hand. ]
no subject
[KID sat back on his heels slightly, contemplating.
It wasn't like he wanted to tell his secrets, but if it was true, and this really was connected - Kudo was already involved, whether KID wanted him to be or not.]
Immortality.
no subject
....You're serious.
[Conan suddenly had a sinking feeling. Because yes, as ludicrous as it sounded, he could see the connection. Vermouth's strange youth, the drug that turned back the clock ten years... ]
no subject
[Worse. Much worse. If you keep telling him things like that, Tantei-kun, he's going to have words with the other thief.]
I am, yes.
[He gestures towards the detective.]
You can surely understand why I'm beginning to wonder about the truth behind a myth.
no subject
[And if it was true, his life had just gotten a lot more complicated. ]
no subject
As a detective, I'm sure that you don't believe in coincidences.
no subject
[Which Meant this wasn't a coincidence. And he really did not want to think about how much more dangerous this might have just gotten.]
This Snake... Has he told you anything?
no subject
All I know is that I'm looking for a gem called 'Pandora'. It's trapped inside another gem and will glow when held up to the moonlight. Legend states that when held up to light with the passing of a certain comet, it will shed tears of immortality.
[And that his father's death was no accident, but he wasn't sharing that with the mini detective.]
no subject
[The rest of it.... Well, Conan had seen stranger in Paradisa. That such a thing could be happening in his own world.... well that was something to think over later.
More importantly, it didn't matter whether he believed that this Pandora had a connection to APTX-4869 or not. It didn't matter whether it was just a folk tale. From Kid's story there were clearly people out there that did believe in it and were willing to kill for it.]
Are you sure the description is correct?
no subject
[It's an agreement, even if he doesn't outright state it.]
That's the only description I have, given to me by the very people who are killing for it. Whether it is or not, I can't say for certain, but I know that's what They are looking for.
no subject
[Whether you like it or not, you're getting help on researching this now. ]
no subject
Oi, Kudo, I didn't tell you that so you'd get involved.
[As a matter of fact, he'd rather the other not - for one, he doesn't want something to happen to the other because of him and secondly, bodies seem to hit the floor when Meitantei was around.]
no subject
no subject
[He would totally start pouting if it was in his nature to.
Although...]
You do realize that the reverse applies as well. After seeing that 'nightmare' of your's, I'm not about to leave something like this alone either.
[And by this, he means Conan and his shrinking problem.]

no subject
[He clicks his tongue.]
You forget, Tantei-kun, I'm a Phantom Thief and a master of disguise. I'm sure my talents can be just as helpful as anyone else's.
no subject
Don't you have enough problems of your own to deal with?
no subject
no subject
[Fine, Conan was going to be blunt.]
If you try to get involved on my side of things, then you will be volunteering to deal with the same situation as the train and worse.
