01 - [Video]

[When the feed clicks on, the camera is just being set down on a bench outside of the hub, and it shows a teenage girl perched next to it, dressed in high brown boots, blue jeans, and a white shirt covered in purple hearts, with her light brow hair tugged back into a ponytail. There's a small purse resting on the bench next to her, and the things she received when she woke up have been stuffed into the top. In her hand is a bright pink cell phone with several charms hanging off it in front of her and frowning as she hits the buttons.]

Come on, somebody has to answer...

[She brings the phone up to her ear, her expression hopeful until it clearly doesn't work and she lets out a frustrated breath as she lowers it to her lap and looks around.]

Palmon!

[This is shouted, though from her tone it's clearly not the first time she has done so, and she isn't really expecting an answer.

Taichi! Sora!

[These last two are half-hearted, even moreso than the first, and then she draws in a long, steadying breath.]

Right, okay. Can't sit here all day.

[She stands up, slipping her phone into the back pocket of her jeans, and then turns to gather up her things only to finally realize the little walkie-talkie thing is on.]

Hm?

[She scoops it up, head tilted slightly to the side as she looks at the little screen for a moment.]

...Can anyone hear me? [A beat.] This isn't the digital world, is it? I read that little pamphlet but...

[A shrug and a slightly amused smile.]

Well, it's hard to believe, right? Not that this is the first time I've woken up somewhere strange! [Which is probably the wrong thing to admit that cheerfully, Mimi.] Ah. Assuming anyone is listening, I'm Tachikawa Mimi.

[She gives a finger-wave to the phone.]

I'm looking for my friends! We were all together before, I think... [She hesitates.] Or at least, Palmon was there. I'm sure of that.

[Another pause, and she smiles a genuine smile because how long can someone like Mimi stay grumpy?]

Anyway! If someone can point me in their direction, that would be great! Thank you!

[And then the camera shifts down to her side as she turns away and starts walking, leaving the feed on in case anyone answers.]

Eh? You know the digital world too?

[Huh, she doesn't recognize him, but Mimi can't help but smile at those goggles. Was there a rule about the digital world and goggles?]

Oh yes! Though I haven't been there in a few years.

I don't think it is. I mean, it doesn't look like any part of the Digital World I was ever in, and I think I'd notice becoming data again. Right?

[He smiles nervously.]

Um, this is kind of strange. I mean, I always thought that there were just a few if us who went there, but now you're the second person I've met here who knew about it. Are you a Tamer?

There were a few places that looked like cities, I remember... [She seems to think about it for a second, then shrugs.] But they weren't this nice looking.

A few? [She blinks.] There are a lot of digidestined anymore, all over the world.

But I've never been called a tamer before.

But, how? There were only ten of us, and now the digimon are all back in the Digital World and all the ways there are closed.

Digidestined? That girl mentioned that. [He frowns.] She didn't know what a Tamer was either.

There are way more than ten. [She says this directly, but not unkindly. Clearly something weird was going on.]

The gates being closed sounds right though. At least until recently.

So...what is a tamer, then?

[And why would they hide this? All of them, they all knew how much it meant to the Tamers.]

What? They're open again? [For the first time since discovering that the portal in Guilmon's shed had been blocked off with concrete, Takato began to feel some hope.

Tamer means that we have digimon partners that we help in battle. It means we have a responsibility to protect the world, both worlds.

"Mm, sorry. I've got a pretty good head for the comings and goings here, and the one you're talking to now is the only one who made another reference to a 'digital world.' Still, if you're any pattern, more will come along. I'm Ted Satchel, by the way. Pleasure to meet you."

[She smiles brightly.]

Nice to meet you too! I mean, aside from...everything. [She laughs.]

But we aren't on earth either? That's what the thing said.

"Hah, not quite. It's very similar to Earth; that is, we share the same holidays. Christmas is just around the corner."

I thought there were just the two worlds.

[She brightens up some.]

Christmas is so soon? I'll have to find everyone so I can give them gifts!

Wow, she's taking the whole dimensional abduction thing astonishingly well. Truly, Ted thought, an example for all of us.

Hmm. [She's not sure she wants to comment on making more friends just yet, not until she finds her old ones.]

No! Of course not, friends wouldn't do that. It's just this place is weird and sometimes takes people away.

[She pauses.]

I haven't been able to find my traveling companions either.

Even if she was tired she knew she was going to have to meet them in person, even if they look much older than last she remembered. She grabs the device since she knew she had a looong way to go to get back to Genessia from work. As she grabbed it she switched it on as she started to walk, a small smile on her face.]

[Might seem weird talking to the much younger version of her.]

[Mimi has the walkie at her side when she hears that voice, and she recognizes it immediately but as she's bringing it up she realizes it sounds...slightly off?]

[Which does nothing to hide her surprise when she actually looks at the screen.]

[She nodded slightly. She does want to question a few things, but right now probably wasn't the time. When they were in person, she would probably ask then.]

That's right. It's nice to see a familiar face after being here for so long. Although... I'll ask when I get to the Bay. You are still at the Bay right?

[She continued her trek from one city to another.]

Good, than I should be there within ten minutes or so since I need to get from work in another city.

[She studies the screen for another minute or two before turning it off and going back to her localized exploring, waiting for the other girl to show up.]
