[When the feed clicks on, the camera is just being set down on a bench outside of the hub, and it shows a teenage girl perched next to it, dressed in high brown boots, blue jeans, and a white shirt covered in purple hearts, with her light brow hair tugged back into a ponytail. There's a small purse resting on the bench next to her, and the things she received when she woke up have been stuffed into the top. In her hand is a bright pink cell phone with several charms hanging off it in front of her and frowning as she hits the buttons.]

Come on, somebody has to answer...

[She brings the phone up to her ear, her expression hopeful until it clearly doesn't work and she lets out a frustrated breath as she lowers it to her lap and looks around.]

Palmon!

[This is shouted, though from her tone it's clearly not the first time she has done so, and she isn't really expecting an answer.

Taichi! Sora!

[These last two are half-hearted, even moreso than the first, and then she draws in a long, steadying breath.]

Right, okay. Can't sit here all day.

[She stands up, slipping her phone into the back pocket of her jeans, and then turns to gather up her things only to finally realize the little walkie-talkie thing is on.]

Hm?

[She scoops it up, head tilted slightly to the side as she looks at the little screen for a moment.]

...Can anyone hear me? [A beat.] This isn't the digital world, is it? I read that little pamphlet but...

[A shrug and a slightly amused smile.]

Well, it's hard to believe, right? Not that this is the first time I've woken up somewhere strange! [Which is probably the wrong thing to admit that cheerfully, Mimi.] Ah. Assuming anyone is listening, I'm Tachikawa Mimi.

[She gives a finger-wave to the phone.]

I'm looking for my friends! We were all together before, I think... [She hesitates.] Or at least, Palmon was there. I'm sure of that.

[Another pause, and she smiles a genuine smile because how long can someone like Mimi stay grumpy?]

Anyway! If someone can point me in their direction, that would be great! Thank you!

[And then the camera shifts down to her side as she turns away and starts walking, leaving the feed on in case anyone answers.]

There are way more than ten. [She says this directly, but not unkindly. Clearly something weird was going on.]

The gates being closed sounds right though. At least until recently.

So...what is a tamer, then?

But... Hypnos never said anything about something like that.

[And why would they hide this? All of them, they all knew how much it meant to the Tamers.]

What? They're open again? [For the first time since discovering that the portal in Guilmon's shed had been blocked off with concrete, Takato began to feel some hope.

Tamer means that we have digimon partners that we help in battle. It means we have a responsibility to protect the world, both worlds.

Sort of. Koushiro explained it, and I didn't understand all of it, but there are ways between the two worlds again. I'm not sure they are really gates though.

[She smiles.]

Tamer sounds a lot like Digidestined, then! But who is Hypnos?

If there's even a chance that I could get there again. [Takato trails off as he thinks and then he smiles sadly.]

It's been six months since I've seen Guilmon. We figured out a way to send some messages, but it isn't the same as seeing him again. And there's a promise I made that I really want to keep.

Ah, really? I don't know for sure, because I've never heard of a digidestined before.

Hypnos is a government group that monitors the digital world. [He frowns in remembrance. I guess it's a little complicated, but they've helped us out a lot.

Well we're chosen to partner with Digimon and save the world, so it sure sounds familiar, right? Palmon is my partner!

[She looks surprised.]

We only just found out there is a government agency doing that...but they didn't tell us their name or anything.

[Takato still looks confused, but he nods and smiles.]

I guess you must be right. Palmon, huh? I don't think I've ever met one.

Oh! I guess I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Takato Matsuda, and my partner is Guilmon.

...Maybe they really do know, then. [Because Takato couldn't picture there being two agencies that were trying to control digimon. But if that was true... it kind of hurt to think that they might have been lying to him, to all of the Tamers. ]

She looks like a flower.

[A smile and a wave.]

Nice to meet you, Matsuda. And who knows? They've been ridiculously mysterious.

I think I've seen her card before.

[He blinks.]

Ah, it's Takato, actually.

Card?

[Let's just totally pretend she got his name right.]

Mmm, from the Digimon card game? I usually play with the Agumon set, but I think I got a Palmon card in one of the packs once.

[What.]

[Ooc: I apologize for the lateness of this tag.]

Yeah, it's really popular. All of my friends play it.

So people know about Digimon? And they're okay with them?

I guess everyone does now?

But it used to be that everyone thought digimon were just a story.

And I guess I don't really know how everyone feels. After the D-Reaper all the digimon had to go back to the digital world. No one has seen one in six months.
