013: The Most Beautiful Demon of All [Video, forward-dated to 9th Dec]
Ahahahaha!
[Midboss' obnoxious laugh could be heard ringing out across Attleton as he opened up a video feed. He was using his flight charm to hover over the Colosseum, next to a large something stood at the head of the battlefield. Whatever it was, it was covered by a canvas sheet.]
People of Attleton and the five cities, I, The Dark Adonis Vyers, must thank you all for once again accepting moi as your City Guardian! I will endeavour to protect everyone from any threats that arise in our cities, just as I have in the past. With a demon of my power guarding this fine city, you truly have nothing to fear. If anyone has any questions for me, please, feel free to ask.
In honour of my continued leadership, and a thank you to all those who have assisted in helping Attleton in times of need, I will be hosting a Grand Tournament, here, at the Attleton Arena, on the last Monday and Tuesday of the year. It will be a truly wonderful two days of food, fighting, and fireworks come nightfall -- a chance to prove your strength in battle, to show the rest of Genessia your skills, and for those who do not wish to complete, the opportunity to watch the finest in the five cities duel it out! Finally, the winner of the tournament will receive not only prize money, but the honour of personally facing moi in a truly glorious grand finale! A wonderful idea, n'est-ce pas?
[He beamed to the camera at the thought, before he reached over to grab hold of the canvas cover.]
Last, but not least! A gift, for the whole of Attleton! I felt that such an impressive site of battle such as this, appealing though it was, needed a touch of class-- non, a touch of elegance. After all, there is no reason a battleground cannot be beautiful.
Thus, I felt a change was sorely needed. A change I will present to all of you now!
[With that, Midboss whipped off the sheet, revealing a 20 meter tall stone statue of himself, posing pretentiously over the arena - sword in hand (instead of the microphone), and a banner with the word 'Beauty' worn across his chest.Never mind the fact he didn't have wings anymore, shh.]
Viola! I imagine you are all stunned into silence by this fine work of art, so for now I will bid you all an aidou! Merci Beaucoup, Attleton!

[Laharl just "happens" to be walking by when the unveiling happens. He takes one look at the statue, looks at Mid-Boss' camera with a "Seriously?" look on his face before floating up and kicking the statue so hard in the crotch that the entire thing explodes into rubble.]

Well...the Plaguebringer had unleashed a devastating disease upon our lair, killing about half of our clan and incapacitating the other half. The only one unaffected was Qubine, so he had to build an entirely new clan to fight it. Just recently, the new clan succeeded, and the sick dragons were finally cured. It took just over a year.

It will be fine, I assure you. No one can be killed in the confines of the arena, and I will make sure I have medics on hand. The tournament is all in the name of friendly competition, so there is no need to worry.

And I'd love to enter your tournament, but I'd hate to embarrass you in front of all those people. The ticket to beating you would just be to bring a mirror.

Hmph. I'll have you know the hours I spend in front of the mirror are of upmost importance! After all, it would simply not do for a Guardian to turn up looking scruffy now, would it? A Guardian -- and for that matter, any Overlord -- needs to be well presented! I understand that you might be intimidated by moi for my beauty, but that is no reason to doubt my power.

[Sure, Gale's not above admitting to himself that Vyers is reasonably good looking, but that only gives him more reason to mess with him.]

It had been a while since he'd spoken to her...wasn't the last time the incident where he had lost all his emotions to those spirits? This could prove awkward.

Her eyes brightened quite a bit. "Oh you'll see that I'm a great fighter. Physical, psychic, or magical. Especially when there's a crowd. Reflecting such a rush of excitement really gets the adrenaline going!"

Most of his emotions. He didn't imagine that the one he sacrificed for his revival would be returning anytime soon.
"I can imagine...I'm definitely looking forward to seeing that. If all goes well, we should definitely attract a crowd."

Her eyes brightened a little as her sclera darkened, betraying her excitement a little bit. "I'm looking forward to it too! I'll shoot you out of the sky and crack your bones with my teeth!" She said that far too cheerfully. "And I expect you to fight just as fiercely against me. We have to give the best show we can, okay? I haven't had a good crowed-fueled rush since the mask incident back home!"
And just as quickly her inhuman features vanished, though she was still grinning. The little youkai was clearly excited. Or, at the very least, impatient and feigning excitement. Nevertheless there was something genuine there.

"Indeed...you may not know this, but if one is killed in this world, a sacrifice must be made to be revived. Whilst it might sound reckless of me, I felt I needed to repent for the damage I caused in that state, and thus gave up my the most precious emotion there is. I trust whatever force commands this world will return in to me in time, once I have repaired what I can, and in the meantime, all I need to figure out is how to do that."
