Shokugeki 1: Arrival a la coffin? [Video/Action]

Video

A redhaired teen sits on the edge of the Bay, video centered firmly on him to show off his ruffled red hair, a white headband around his forehead. "So...I'm going to assume this isn't some kind of Totsuki prank right? At least the hologram of that white girl is pretty well done for something that'd be just a prank. The name's Yukihira Soma nice to meet our esteemed kidnappers and whoever else is a kidnappee here."

The screen's background shifts as the boy apparently stands up, briefly showing off a leather case with a handle being picked up. "So...any place for a chef to get set up here?"

Action

Soma's making his way down the street, case held over his right shoulder by his right hand, what looks like a dried squid tentacle in his mouth as he walked. His eyes roamed the city as he moved, lingering on various restaurants and shops.

I haven't been here for long enough to properly settle in yet either.

[ AKA she's been mooching off of Ryo and continually wasting his money on challenging him to food fights. :| She'll get to actually getting a job soon, but there's nothing really... worthy here. Besides Ryo's ramen cart and he's her servant, not the other way around so. ]

We're working on it!

[ There are plans, there's just also a lot of pickiness involved! Though she's definitely not making a Totsuki Academy, there aren't enough talented people here for that. (At least when it comes to cooking..) ]

I've only been here a week, I'm still trying to get to know this place.

[ You can't make a restaurant if you don't investigate the local cuisine and figure out what the market's like, Yukihira! Also she has like zero equipment yet, that stuff costs money. ]

Ryo's is already, he's been here for 5 months.

[ Ryo is succeeding, that counts as Alice's success. Obviously. ]

Just about anywhere, but it depends on what kind of food you're planning on serving. Though I think I already know the answer to that. Genessia or Attleton would be better for your special-of-the-day style food.

[ They're not together-together, they're just like. Sharing a bed and a tiny tiny apartment. 8D It's like having a sleepover. ]

I answered your question, didn't I? There's nothing wrong with those two, that style just is much better suited to a modern location than the other cities. You might culture shock someone in Fayren and Nova City's more up my ally than yours. Everglade might work too, but I think something along Sadatsuka's style would thrive there. They might enjoy your little failures.

[ She's glad she's avoided ever getting ambushed by one. ]

When Ryo and I get our restaurant, he probably won't mind you taking his cart if you want to be a wandering nomad of lunch specials.

[ With science and common sense. Obviously. ]

Pass. I care about my tastebuds more than that.

It's not like you're too good for it.

[ Third. Third third third third third. ]

It's more that I don't need to experiment to understand that anything you serve that looks like that would be a disaster. Aesthetics are just as important in serving food as taste, you know.

Too good for a history of successfully stealing customers from solid restaurants? I'm telling Ryo you said that~

[ Third and she had a higher score than all of them in the qualifier~ ]

They can also improve the mental taste. You can serve a plated arrangement next to the same dish simply plopped onto a plate like a family dinner and customers will believe the arrangement tastes better every time. But even if psychology didn't play an important part in the culinary world, anything that smells and looks that horrible combined with that sadistic look you get on your face..? Go find someone who hasn't seen you experiment on your dorm mates to taste for you.

I didn't mean that, I meant he's not using the cart anymore, take out all of the stuff he used and just use the cart and whatever equipment you want that he didn't take out.

[ Strip it clean. Ask Ryo first, then strip it clean. She doesn't know if he's actually going to do anything with it or not. ]

We're planning one like that, so I guess we won't be in competition if you aren't going to bother.

[ Does she sound a little disappointed? Yeah. A little bit. ]

Not right now, but sometimes!

Ours is going to be reservation-only, so competition won't be an issue since yours will probably be open.

[ They'll have intensive cost-control with their method and be able to change their menu regularly without much repercussion. That's the plan, anyway. ]

Let me know when you decide on which city. We might come visit!

Still not going to reach out into something new?

Let us know when you want a reservation too. [ They definitely are going to have different types of gourmet food though- definitely not affordable by all every day. ]
