4th Book | Video

[Belle had started to feel a bit better since her little trip to the Dream Docks and she was starting to get back into the pattern of being as social as she could be. Today was no exception as she made a post, all the while trying her best to smile.]

It's nearly the end of the year already. It was only two months ago since I arrived, so it feels...strange knowing that.

[For once she didn't appear to be reading and there were no books near by, in fact there were many different things she had been thinking about, so much so she hadn't decided to read.]

I guess because of it, I've been thinking. With everything we have been through both here and at home... I guess I'm going to ask what other peoples New Year Resolutions will be. [She paused for a moment.] I know people usually go with getting fit and things like that... but I'm curious as to what people might try and do to change.

[She looks to the side for a moment, as if thinking something over.] I think for me... I'm going to try and be a better person and follow my dream of going out in the world and exploring it more. Even if there are only five cities who knows what they have within those walls.

[She gives a light chuckle.] Also I have some personal goals I want to achieve, but those right now are secret.

Hmmm... That does tend to be the recent trend over the last few decades.

[There's a rather long pause.]

Perhaps I should quit doing so many locked audio communications? It might not be a bad thing to put my face out into the public openly again. It will happen in the future eventually...

[A soft chuckle.]

I've been protecting and hiding an entire species for ten centuries. I'm so used to covering every single potential loophole and considering each game of chess ten moves ahead that I've formed several very obvious habits. I have no need of such protection but it's hard to let go of the habit even when I'm the only one here. [A slight pause.] There is... one other thing I'm a little wary about.

Mmmm...

[Belle should get a degree in dealing with reclusive anger-driven tricksters or something, Bridget is actually feeling like it's ok to open up a bit.]

The sun. I may or may not be allergic to it but the only way to find out is to stick my hand out and see if I get burned.

I haven't thought of one.

[After a pause, she's going to laugh fairly hard and long. But not in a mean way.]

I'm sorry... I'm not laughing at you. It's just... that's the first time anyone other than Strauss has been worried about my health.

[After a moment of fiddling, she'll appear on the video feed wearing a high-necked black tunic. And she's actually smiling just a little. From the background though she's in a storage room at Rocks.]

I think I'll start with a finger. I can always cut it off and do without for a century or two.

It's fine if you feel worry or concern for others, you just surprised me. I was born in a far less compassionate time. It was later called the 'Dark Ages' for very good reason I suppose. Most of the people around me either consider questioning my health as a show of doubt in my leadership or see me as some sort of immortal demi-god.

[A mild shrug.]

I can regenerate half my body within 24 hours and could probably lose over two thirds before I needed to worry. At least with normal injuries... If the sun still burns me it'll be more like acid and take a good century or two before I heal over. Otherwise I'd have tested the changes months ago.
