[Belle had started to feel a bit better since her little trip to the Dream Docks and she was starting to get back into the pattern of being as social as she could be. Today was no exception as she made a post, all the while trying her best to smile.]

It's nearly the end of the year already. It was only two months ago since I arrived, so it feels...strange knowing that.

[For once she didn't appear to be reading and there were no books near by, in fact there were many different things she had been thinking about, so much so she hadn't decided to read.]

I guess because of it, I've been thinking. With everything we have been through both here and at home... I guess I'm going to ask what other peoples New Year Resolutions will be. [She paused for a moment.] I know people usually go with getting fit and things like that... but I'm curious as to what people might try and do to change.

[She looks to the side for a moment, as if thinking something over.] I think for me... I'm going to try and be a better person and follow my dream of going out in the world and exploring it more. Even if there are only five cities who knows what they have within those walls.

[She gives a light chuckle.] Also I have some personal goals I want to achieve, but those right now are secret.

[He smiles.]

It sounds like a nice custom, but how often are they kept?

I don't know, I know I will trying myself, but I don't know about other people.

[She was confident enough in her own ability anyway, and the hope that certain people don't arrive.]

[He nods and smiles.]

Well, for what it's worth, you already are a good person, Belle.

Thank you, but I think that sometimes being a good person ends up with me getting hurt... and I need to not let that happen again.

[He frowns in concern at her words.]

Does that happen often here?

What being a good person and getting hurt? I'm not sure if it happens to others, but I hope not.

No. [He shakes his head, his brow creased with concern.] I mean to you.

Here, not really. Back home it was more often.

[He nods.] Why do you think it's different here?

Because the person who 'hurts' me in a feelings sense isn't here. That's why.

[His frown deepens.]

Is it...someone you care for?

[She paused for a moment, before giving a small nod.]

My husband. So yes, someone I cared for deeply. ,small>[She wondered if she should explain why so he wouldn't get the wrong idea, although the idea might be the same.]

I'll just say he kept certain things a secret and he went a little too far the last time.

[He frowns in sympathy.]

But if he loves you, he shouldn't keep any secrets from you. [A pause.] Unless he thought he had your best intentions in mind.

[Her best intentions. At this point she was pretty sure that was not the case.]

As... much as I would like to wish that. Giving me something to look after because he trusted me and then finding out it was a fake and he never really gave it to me... It wasn't for my best intentions. More like his own. Power over those he says he loves.

...he lied to you about a responsibility he was trusting you with?

[That's what Richard took her explanation to mean, at least.]

Why would he do that? To...make you feel more important to him than you are?

[That's...so cruel...]

Belle, I know we've just met, and this might not mean anything coming from me, but you know you deserve better than that, right?

Yes. Something like that.

[It was not something she fully understood, in her mind it was like saying he wanted to have his cake and eat it to.]

I believe he wanted to be able to keep his power and me at the same time... As much as I didn't like it.

[She gives a small, but soft smile.]

Thank you... for saying that. I know I do.

[He smiles sympathetically.]

I hope, if he shows up here, you remember that.

I'm sure I will still remember.

[Although in canon is a different mater altogether.]

It was nice talking to you, I feel better.

If not, you have friends to remind you. [He smiles.] At least one.

[And that smile continues.]
