Thief Hunting
WHO: Tiara and Fang
WHAT: Hunting down a thief
WHERE: Fayren
WHEN: Jan 4th, Late Evening
[ Though she hadn't said anything about it too blatantly, Tiara was more than a little unnerved by the incidents with the Hands of Decay recently. Poor Cui was usually the one to be squished in her arms, but the fairy was used to offering a little comfort to his Fencer. If she was surprised how gung-ho and proactive Fang was about patrolling, she never said it, precisely. Of course, she couldn't sit and worry and fret in the inn room she shared with him, which is why when he came back she had basically shoved the paper in his face and told him they were going out to capture a thief. Who knows, maybe he was connected to these Hands of Decay people! ... very unlikely, but she wouldn't stand and just let some foolish thief take advantage of other mages while they were away. Still it was nice that she let him get -some- sleep when he came back. He can't protect her properly if he as falling over, right? ]
Come Fang, it is time to begin our stakeout.
[ Did he get enough rest? Well it was probably only an few hours if that, but at least she let him get some rest all! Because she knew he would be at his best when he'd rested, and he has been working pretty hard lately. As he should! ]

In any other circumstance he would have jumped at the job Tiara held out in his face when he came back but in these times it took a bit a persuading or more like guilt tripping to let Tiara join him on this side quest.]
Yeah I know the drill already. Just make sure you stay close."
no subject
Yes, I know.
[ He was being ridiculously overprotective, but... he had reason to be. Though a large amount of their mutual concerns had been addressed and resolved, occasionally she worried she made the wrong decision. But she would live by the one she made, and gladly. So long as nothing happened, anyway. So with Cui sitting on her shoulder, keeping a close eye on their surroundings, she followed after him back outside. ]
Have you seen anything on your patrols..?
[ She probably needn't even ask, given how frustrated he looked when he came back. ]
no subject
Nah haven't found a single clue. Word on the grapevine is they got some real bloodhound type guys on their tail but even they haven't gotten anything solid outside of a strong smell of herbs.
no subject
[ That was wishful thinking at best. After a demonstration like they had done they would have to be really stupid or really egotistical to let themselves get caught so quickly. But it was still infuriating. ]
Well, if nothing else, getting a petty thief off of the streets will help matters. Perhaps we will even be fortunate enough to recover the stolen goods.
no subject
[Well he's not expecting that kind of a follow up. He just wants to grab the shady rat and bring him in before they can draw any unwanted attention.]
no subject
There, we should be able to watch from that spot without being noticed.
no subject
[He won't rest until those bastards are locked up.]
Hmm? Oh yeah that definitely looks like a good spot to lay low and watch.
no subject
Hopefully we aren't meant to wait long.
[ It was going to be really really -boring- if she had to stand there watching the storefront for the thief to show up. At least there were two other pairs of eyes watching though - and she was in good company. She had thought about going to this job alone, but she knew Fang would never allow it, even if he had to track her down and argue with her about it. Plus... she'd be really uneasy if it were just her.
She sighed, settling into a comfortable (ish) spot and trying not to notice the dirty dirty alley they waited in. Yick. ...and the minutes ticked by for what seemed like forever, with Tiara juuuuuust on the verge of complaining about having to wait so long, wondering if he was even going to show up - until! The thief started his approach - dundun, dadun! ]
no subject
Well that all depends on our luck. For all we know they might not even show up today.
[Of course just as he says that the target enters the area. His luck was clearly against him.]
no subject
I would certainly hope that is not the case. That would make this a complete waste of time. [ That would be a far greater crime! She's getting dirty out here~! Oh - but fortunately for them and unfortunately for the thief, it looked like he was going to make another go of his filthy thieving ways after all. ]
Fang...
[ Tiara glanced briefly at her friendservantpartner...morethanthat -there had to be a better term for that kind of thing - but she was fairly sure he spied the guy before she even did.
The thief meanwhile, glanced both ways, but apparently, successful lootings previous evenings made him cocky. Still, he had to watch out for people patrolling the streets. Silently he checked the door of an appraiser's shop, then crouched and started to pick the lock. ]
no subject
[The moment he said that though, his eyes shifted to the side right at the thief who was carefully scanning the area.]
Wow. This guy's cocky I'll give him that...
no subject
[ Tiara frowned as she watched the thief manage to successfully pick the lock and slip inside. All the loots inside that shop was his for the taking and no one could stop him! MWahaha etc etc. Tiara waited a moment, and then straightened from her crouch to glance at Fang, then quietly jog over towards the store in question. Fortunately that was a thief who didn't have others working with him. ]
no subject
[He does follow after Tiara and quickly materializes his Fury into its gun form. A simple and compact form best suited for speed.]
So how do you want to do this? We jump him when he leaves the building or storm in after him?
no subject
Of course. If we are incapable of capturing the larger threat, at least we will be able to do something about the smaller one. [ It would feel less frustrating. ]
Besides, it is foolish of the miscreant to believe himself untouchable and continue to be capable of accomplishing such deeds. Come, Cui.
[ If Fang's going for gun form, she uses her trusty glaive mode, glancing at the Fencer thoughtfully. Hmmm... how best to do it... ]
If we confront him within the establishment I fear he may cause more damage on principle. Let us greet him as he makes his exit instead.
no subject
[See he can think strategically!]
If we had Galdo we could even have him watch the back entrance just in case but it's no good wishing for something you don't have at a time like this.
no subject
[ Well, they'll be able to get their irritation and frustration out on this mage-hater right? Just.. don't go overboard, Fang. ]
Mmm... That is true. It would be easier to have Galdo along with us. [ Anyone from home really. She may not say it, but she missed her companions quite a bit. ]
My hopes that we would be joined by someone from home as well have dwindled somewhat, but I suppose it is not an impossibility. Until then we will manage without them as we have been. Quietly now, we do not want to alert the thief to our presence. [ Says the one who was chatting just as much as he- if not more. But once they came upon the storefront, she quieted down, tucking silver hair behind an ear.
no subject
[It's not his stuff getting touched so why get worked up?]
Hah don't worry I know all of that. But I won't give up. Besides it's not like I'm alone in this place either so waiting is a lot easier with you here.
[Oh yes he just said that. Though he does grow quiet at her urging, slowly focusing his senses on the presence moving about in the building.]
no subject
[ It's the principle of the thing, Fang! Some smelly thief thinking they could get away with this? No sir! ]
Ah...!
[ He totally said that - and with a straight face no less. She glanced at him with pink cheeks, touched by that statement. ]
... I feel the same way.
[ It was a lot easier with someone you know- and especially with the way her relationship was with Fang now. Before they could say anything further on that though, the sound of approaching footsteps was heard, the presence of the thief shifting about until he finally reached the door, bumping it open with his hip and chuckling to himself, the thief muttering as well: ]
"Easiest heist yet. Like candy from a baby..~"
no subject
Here he comes.
[He quickly retorted missing the blush dusting her cheeks. He pointed to the wall right next to the door for her to take up position there while he would provide the distraction from the front. The moment the perp revealed himself Fang cocked his gun with a none too friendly grin.]
Well well. What was that about candy from a baby?
no subject
"Better get lost now, buddy, before I make you regret it."
[ Tiara gave a push to the door, closing it so he couldn't back into the shop. ]
We have no intention of leaving. I suggest you drop the bag of pilfered goods immediately. If you do, we may go easy on you.
[ Maybe. Still her kind offer is snorted at by the thief, as he glanced between the two. ]
"Ha ha ha! You have got to be kidding! Look, maybe you didn't know, but a mage runs this place. Mages deserve EVERYTHING that's coming to them, those disgusting, meddling things. They're nothing but a menace!"
no subject
no subject
Fang..!
[ He probably didn't hear her surprised shout over the Thief's when he hollered at what he would consider a completely unnecessary show of force! He stumbled back against the door, losing his balance briefly, his hostile expression turning to one of hate as he glared at Fang. He gripped the bag over his shoulder. ]
"Lousy...traitorous...mage lover...!"
[ Snarling this last, he chucked the bag straight at the Fencer rather suddenly, and followed up his throw by shoving himself forward to tackle Fang to the ground, going for his own weapon. ]
no subject
Hurts doesn't it? You know a mage could make that all go away with their healing magic? No of course you don't. You're just another sheep.
no subject
"F*CK you man. I'm not letting some abomination lay their devil magic on me no matter what you do~! I ain't no sheep!"
[ Lips pressing into a thin line of disapproval - though that was more towards the thief's narrowminded statements - Tiara stepped forward to pick up the bag of loots. Abomination, huh? ]
Fang, perhaps it may be necessary to heal at least his foot injury - it will be easier than simply dragging him with us to the authorities.
[ The thief all but spits in her direction at that suggestion. ]
no subject
You don't know what a true devil is. But I can show you if you don't shut the hell up.
[He turns to Tiara and shakes his head at her offer.]
Didn't you hear the idiot. He doesn't want our help. The authorities can patch him up.
[Luckily he brought a roll of reinforced rope with him and proceeded to mount the thief's back before tying his wrists firmly at his back.]
Since you're such a big boy who doesn't need no filthy magic help, you should be able to walk through this snow just fine to the station. All the way.
