[MINI EVENT] Fayren Attacked

Who: Open.
What: Big Trouble in Little Fayren.
Where: Fayren.
When: Today. Just after midnight.

Arlen was a known summoner in Fayren. He grew up there and so did his wife Vestele. They'd been friends since childhood and started dating in their teens and marriage happened soon after. Arlen returned home and found a letter stating that Vestele had been kidnapped. And if they wanted to see them again, they needed to follow strict instructions. Enclosed in the letter was a wedding ring that belonged to Vestele, just so he would know that this was no bluff.

He was told not to tell anyone what happened and to be a specific location. If anything out of the ordinary happened, his wife would die. So he arrived at the meeting place and met a man dressed in robes, his face obscured by a hood that he was wearing. Vestele was behind the man, bound and gagged.

Before he knew it, he felt a sharp pain in his neck as an unseen assailant injected him with something. Arlen was told that he had just been injected with a poison just to make sure he cooperated. It would take his life in seventy-two hours, but if he did exactly what they wanted then they would give him the antidote. If not, in seventy two hours, he would die, and at that same time, they would take Vestele’s life as well. Arlen only cared to see Vestele set free, even if his actions led to him being imprisoned, that was fine. Just so long as Vestele was safe.

Fast forward to now, he was attempting to complete his final task. Chalk infused with his magic as well as stolen ingredients that were acquired from a thief was used to scribble intricate markings on surfaces not readily visible by people merely passing by. He could feel the point burning in his body all the while.

This preparation was completed quickly, within half an hour for him as he was well versed in this. These circles served as Point B. And Point A? Well, Point A to all of the circles were located within a monster infested ruin.

He activated the circle he was nearest to and it started a chain reaction. Start points and end points were connected and creatures were teleported into the city. Reanimated Skeletons, Fire Bats, Clockroaches and Giant Boars for good measure. Creatures that ranged from annoying to deadly in the right situation.

He completed his task, now the Hands of Decay needed to uphold their side of the bargain and release Vestele. Arlen fled from Fayren using the teleportation circle that he made to send him to the ruins while the creatures began to attack the city, from there he planned to head to his meeting point. He prayed that Vestele would be safe, and that Fayren wouldn't hate him too much.

[ooc: The TL;DR version, Summoner summons in monsters after 12AM when most people are probably in bed. He’s been blackmailed to do so. There are a large number of monsters roaming around/breaking into house/attacking people. So, mini attack in Fayren. ICly, this will only last for one hour. Probably quite a bit of property damage will happen as a result. You know, with giant boars running around and all.]

He might not deactivate it, but she did, sighing faintly. She could trust him to react more quickly than her if something showed up. After a careful scrutiny of the area, she let herself settle down on the bench outside the Inn, resting her glaive across her lap with a soft frown. Silent for a few minutes, she eventually glanced towards him. "Well.. what now?"

He sat down next to Tiara though he didn't make any attempt to speak to her again. He knew he'd messed up and that frown even as slight as it was, made him feel guilty.

"Huh? Well uuuhmmm I...don't know."

She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, then looked back out to the street. The roads looked clear, and it didn't feel or sound like there were any more beasts about. "Then I suppose it is safe enough to return home." Now with the adrenaline wearing off, she felt tired. And angry. "We will speak about your actions there." And now the ice enters her voice.

He didn't miss the shift in Tiara's mood even if it was as slow as an iceberg melting and breaking apart. Even so he wouldn't run away. "Yeah...Lets get going then." He nodded and got up to his feet, finally deactivating the fury. He could feel the I told you so glare from Eryn even from inside his very being.

He is a brave soul. She could appreciate that he was willing to face her wrath without running. To add to the chilly tone in her voice, she refused to speak to or acknowledge him the entire way back. Walking into the inn, she made her way up to their room, opening the door and gesturing for him to enter with a sweep of her arm. The first acknowledgement she made in the five minute walk.

The door clicked shut, and Tiara finally looked at him. "I suppose you have an excuse?"

Talk about being given the cold shoulder. Even so he didn't try to make up any excuses or speak with her at all. He did sneak the occasional glance her way, worry and guilt mixing together in his expression before she silently ordered him to go inside first.

The first question was a sharp one to say the least.

"Well I...guess I thought I could handle it on my own when I first heard the commotion." That wasn't entirely a lie. Not entirely but not the truth either.

She closed the door, walking over to sit on the edge of her bed and crossing her arms as she stared at him, displeased, her tone frosty. "Is that so."

She supposed it was a valid enough answer, but...

"Are we no longer partners?" In all fairness, she did make him go out on his own on a few jobs that she knew he could handle without her, but this was different!

That might as well have been the door to a dungeon closing. But Fang never thought the first question Tiara would ask would cut him that deep?

"W-What? Of course we are!" Oh she'd gotten under his skin from the very start and he'd given it all away without even realizing it.
hatedbloodline: (You are SO frustrating..!!!!)

"I see. And yet your actions are hardly befitting that of a partner. By definition, when the incident occurred, it would have been wise for you to have notified me, your partner, of what had happened." At least then she could have offered to come with him, or more likely told him she was coming with him.

"Therefore if we are partners still, then is it my presence that is not wanted?"
fatedefyingwill: (Shock and despair)

[personal profile] fatedefyingwill 2016-01-14 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"N-NO of course not. I just...thought i could deal with it without having to get you involved. I was wrong I admit it but it's not that I didn't want you with me." There was something more behind his words. Some intent he didn't dare to speak out loud. He wanted to protect her. ANd he'd almost failed in that in the end. Something which shook him up a bit.

She relaxed - just the slightest bit. "Hmph. You truly are a fool, thinking such things." But at least he knew he was wrong to. And it wasn't that he had second thoughts about ..her. Which was something she had worried about. "Then if you have learned, as you claim, you will know better than to rush off in situations as this in the future." She turned her head away almost dismissively.
fatedefyingwill: (I cant take my eyes off of you for one s)

[personal profile] fatedefyingwill 2016-01-14 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah I know. I put you in danger this time too." That went against his goal and Eryn had already chewed him out plenty before and during the conflict that had sparked in the middle of the night.
hatedbloodline: (Oh my - would this face lie?)

[personal profile] hatedbloodline 2016-01-14 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
She almost relents a little, reminded of that. And reminded of the entire conversation they had before- what he did to save her life. "Be that as it may... perhaps you are not completely at fault. Had I given more attention to my surroundings than searching for you-" She paused, wondering if she should have mentioned that. Oh well. "I would not have been caught so unawares."

Hmm. But she wasn't going to forgive him this time. Not yet. He needed a proper punishment.
fatedefyingwill: (I cant take my eyes off of you for one s)

[personal profile] fatedefyingwill 2016-01-14 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"You wouldn't have had to search for me if I had stayed with you and simply woken you up though." He's fully aware he's messed up. So he didn't even expect Tiara to let him off just yet. This almost failure though would stick with him for a while if not forever. It certainly proved that leaving her side to protect her was the worst idea.

[personal profile] hatedbloodline 2016-01-14 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Not even a little. The puppydog was in the doghouse, as far as she was concerned. She fell silent, thoughtfully, "I will expect you to remember that. If I cannot rely on you to be by my side when you are needed ..."

Oh... maybe that was too harsh? She continued regardless, refusing to look at him, petting Cui instead. Poor Cui, who was looking like he wanted to be aaaaaaaaaaaanywhere but there right now.

Fang had no real excuse. All he could do was make up for it in the future. Right now though he was feeling drained in body and mind. "I will. I promise this won't happen again. Even if you likely don't believe me. Not that I can blame you."
hatedbloodline: (You are a fool)

[personal profile] hatedbloodline 2016-01-15 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
She didn't even give him the courtesy of sympathy or respond to whether or not she believed him. She did, however, see he was exhausted. "Go and sleep. You will offer your services to those who suffered in the attack first thing in the morning." That'll keep him out of trouble for a while.
fatedefyingwill: (By her side is the best)

[personal profile] fatedefyingwill 2016-01-15 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
He would be lying if he said the cold shoulder didn't sting a bit. But he definitely deserved it so he didn't speak up. Instead he nodded to her offer and just allowed himself to flop over the bed.
hatedbloodline: (You are a fool)

[personal profile] hatedbloodline 2016-01-15 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
It wasn't easy. She had honestly wanted nothing more than to hug him and tell him she was glad he was all right, but the irritation won out. And her pride refused to let her simply forgive him so easily. She watched him flop over on the bed, silently sighing as she glanced away. She would give him the cold shoulder for a few days more, she supposed. Until he had finished his penance with repairwork, and whatever few 'chores' she would find for him to do.
fatedefyingwill: (What to do now)

[personal profile] fatedefyingwill 2016-01-15 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
He accepted that and shortly after his head hit the bed, Fang was pretty much dead to the world until morning.
