Action;
[Airy doesn’t want to admit that weird has suddenly become normal. Things were uncomfortable enough already without having to face that one glaring fact. In this case, she remembers going to bed and it was nice and comfortable and yes, in a stranger’s apartment but it was at least a bed and he wasn’t creepy. Now she’s falling out of this pod thing and stumbling into water. The strange box she woke up with falls into the water and breaks open.]
Oh no…
[She dips her hand in to fetch out the phone first and then collects everything else only to lay it out on the floor away from the water. She shakes the phone praying to the phone gods.]
Please don’t be broken.
[She collects the rest of the things and walks from the bay area, only sort of paying attention to the hologram. It’s pretty cool actually but she doesn’t really want to linger on that.]
Video;
[The water hasn’t broken her phone but it is stuck in video mode which Airy feels awkward about because that’s her face and people she doesn’t know can see it.]
Hi. I’m Airy… well sort of Airy that isn’t my full name. [She pauses, closes her eyes and then starts over.] Anyway I dropped... everything in the water and it’s sort of wet. [Which is obvious.] I sort of read it but I sort of didn’t.
Is this like the Twilight Zone?
[Which she’s watched recently because it’s on Netflix.]

( video; )
Yeah, of course. I...haven't been there yet, either.
( video; )
[She has no idea when he actually arrived which is why she sounds so confused. Her lips quickly turn into a smile.]
Then we can see it together.
( video; )
Yeah, it'll be fun. And you can pick a room.
( video; )
H-how far are you?
[She glances down from the video and sighs softly when she sees the icicles growing of the bench. She tries to back them go away but she can't stop thinking about how cold it is.]
( video; )
[He pauses, but only for a moment.]
Think warm thoughts. Like...the beach in summertime.
( video; )
I don't think that will help.
[Except it will.]
Geeze, I can't remember the last time I went to the beach.
[She wonders if there is a beach here.]
( video; )
[Because I know what you can do.]
I think the last time I went to the beach, I was just a kid.
( video; )
When she opens her eyes the icicles around her had melted, pools of water forming in their place. The sun is shining but only on her small patch around the park bench she's sitting on. Beneath her is sand being pulled into the street by the soft breeze. She's completely forgotten her phone staring in awe at what's around her. She feels her hair and clothes wrinkle and dry in the warmth.]
We should find a beach.
[She feels herself say the words but it isn't directed at anyone in particular. Nathan can undoubtedly hear and in the sight of the camera he can see her from her knee to her thigh and then the shifting of coppery sand.]
( action; )
It looks like you did a pretty good job of finding one. [He has a small coat for her, but at the moment, it doesn't look like she really needs it.]
Hi. I'm Nathan...in the flesh, this time.
( action; )
Oh! I didn't!
[She looks back at the bench and it's back to normal which also means she's back to feel very cold.]
I mean... that wasn't... I...
[Airy turns back at him her words completely failing her.]
( action; )
You did exactly what I said, and you did a really good job.
[After the coat was around her, he gave her shoulders a squeeze before remembering she doesn't actually know him and dropping his hands.]
So, why don't we go check out that apartment?
( action; )
Her mind races frantically to catch up and she has to stop herself from commenting on the fact that Nathan is much cuter in person. She notices the comforting squeeze on her shoulder and for a moment thought of her family. It hasn't been that long since she left them, they can't be really missing her but they were probably very worried. As her thoughts continued silence lingered before Airy realized she's staring at Nathan.]
Yeah.
[She kicks herself for making that far more awkward than it had to be.]
( action; )
They were a huge grid...
( action; )
Luckily she's following him so staring at him isn't so strange.]
I did see the remake with my little brother so I know what you mean. Besides I thought all cities were more or less grids.
[Airy hasn't seen the 80's version of the movie where Jeff Bridges is a young man.]
( action; )
[He looks over his shoulder to her.]
It's a perfect grid.
( action; )
They probably just thought about it before they built it.
[She doesn't sound convinced.]
This isn't the start of a horror movie is it? But then... who would I be? I don't know if I'm main character material... I hope my death is epic then.
[Airy realizes that she's rambling and quickly clamps her jaw shut.]
( action; )
[He laughs, looking over to her.] Are you kidding? You're totally main character material. You're the girl who survives and surprises everyone.
( action; )
You think so? I think... at least in horror movies, the one's who try to save others ends up dying and I'm pretty sure I'd do that.
[She laughs dryly.]
Sara used to say that, she said I'd live to the end as long as I didn't do something stupid to save someone else.
( action; )
Did you ever see the Ruins? The girl who survived then tried to save everyone, but failed, and then got out. So, that's not always the case.
[He runs a hand back through his hair.]
...of course, that outcome's a lot more depressing.
( action; )
[She pauses before curling her lips together.]
I think I'd save everyone. [She nods.] Yup, I've decided that I would.
[Airy doesn't like to harp on depressing things for too long. She glances sideways at Nathan and flashes him a smile.]
I assume you know where we are going but where is this place?
( action; )
And I bet you could pull it off, too.
[He nods.] Rose and 24th. The numbers go this way. Once we get to 24th, we'll turn...south I think, 'til we get to Rose.
( action; )
We're at... 21st.
[So not to far.]
I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight even if we get there...
[To much has happened and she isn't sure if she can quiet her thoughts. Then again, she'll probably pass out once she sits down.]
( action; )
Don't worry about it. I don't know that I'll be able to sleep, either.
( action; )
Let's grab some stuff to eat then.
[She'll probably just grab bacon and eggs. Breakfast is always safe.]
( action; )
That sounds like a great idea, and this place [He gestures toward the supermarket they were passing.] Looks like it's still open.
