What is love?

How do you know when you’ve felt it?

Is it the same for everyone?

I just don't understand.

Hah, well love is is the Alpha and Omega of the universe. Of course there's going to be a lot of thought put into it. And, of course you know what to feel about feelings; they're nice, but compared to the thing itself, it's mere window dressing.

"They"?

[Laughs.]

That's common, yes; a stirring of the heart.

But--goodness--I can't get through to you, can I? Don't worry about feelings. You may as well worry about the wind; it will come and go. The thing itself, love, is what's important, and that will be available quite independent of passion.

By God, it is not. Affection may play its part, but love is a matter of will, not feeling. [Third time's the charm. This girl must be very young, to be seeking infatuation over reality.]

Nonsense. If you love someone, you do. Excuse the redundancy. Indeed, so long as you seek one's good, or even so much as wish them will, you are doing it already. Somehow I'm sure you're capable of that.
