Who: Annie and you
What: Multiple scenarios
Where: Multiple places
When: Multiple times
Warnings: N/A
Scenario 1: Gym(Thuds, Genessia City, Day)
The sounds of someone kicking a punching bag can be heard echoing off the walls of the gym. Annie looks focused and a million miles away inside of her own head as she does the same kick over and over before switching to practice with the other leg.
You're a disgrace as a warrior, Annie. You hesitated with Marco, you didn't kill Armin OR Jean when you had the chance and now you're going on about me killing Armin, because you care for him still!
"Shut up!" she yelled out loud, her final kick nearly sending the bag off of its hook. She hadn't seen her fellow 'warrior' yet. Probably a good thing for him, since it was his ass she felt like kicking. Making her question herself like that. She didn't know why she let it get under her skin. Reiner was just paranoid as usual.
Scenario 2: Bar,Fayen, Night
Annie was not one to drink, not usually. She didn't even like the taste of beer. And she didn't plan on doing something as stupid as get drunk or pick a fight as as some of the soldiers in the interior were prone to. But she needed something to soothe her nerves after Armin's death and Levi's announcement to the whole world what they were. She was just glad they didn't have pictures of them.
No, she did not like the situation she was in. Annie was cautious. She didn't like to be caught off guard. She didn't like not having a plan.
Scenario 3: Streets,Nova City/ later Afternoon
"And that is how you actually throw a punch, kid,"she finished, explaining to a little boy with a bruise on his cheek. "So next time, you'll be prepared. Because next time, someone won't be here to chase the bully away."
"Yes, ma'am," the kid sniffed, wiping his nose on his sleeve. "Thank you!"
"Not so fast, show me," she ordered, sternly.
The boy made a fist, making sure to lay his thumb over his fingers the correct way. Then he scurried away. Annie was disappointed. The only thing she had really enjoyed, had almost made her happy, was teaching Eren how to fight. It always amazed her how many people didn't know the basics of defending themselves.
She brushed her hair out of her face and picked up where she had left off in her wanderings. She had no plan of where to go. There were so many places to see here that she had not seen.
There was so much she hadn't known humans were capable of when left to thrive. There were still the rotten apples, of course. Case and point with the boy she'd run into. But she hadn't known what other things they could build like cafe's, parks, stores with books.
Was Zeke wrong? she wondered. Or is it because this is not the world I came from, so it's not tainted?

Scenario 3
Reiner had been watching from behind a corner, leaning on the wall in the nearest building and raising his voice once Annie walks by. He had actually searched for Annie, but didn't think he'd find her here.
Re: Scenario 3
"I'm getting accustomed to this world we've been thrown into without any warning," she answered calmly.
She thought about adding, Why, were you planning on killing someone here too? But it was really not in her best interest to pick a fight in the street with her one ally. Her anger hadn't exactly cooled, but that was even more reason not to be reckless.

"Don't get too attached." They couldn't know if the people here were actually tainted, even if it didn't look like it now.

She waited until Annie gave some sign of acknowledging her presence, consciously or otherwise. "Hello again Miss." A pause, Koishi glancing back over her shoulder. "I like your fighting style. It's been a very long time since I've seen someone with such good hand-to-hand form. You must train a lot."
3
"Everyone should train from time to time," she replied. "Nature isn't going to ignore you just because you never learned how to fight. You end up as prey for something else."
no subject
"Your heart is very guarded Miss, but I don't think that's a bad quality. I don't actually see a lot of badness in you. You are not a thing of malice like the things that seethe and follow those oblivious and charmed with teeth to their necks." A smile. No real use beating around the bush. "Every story has two sides. I followed because the mister was concerned and he said so on the box. Someone died. I met you once so I thought I'd ask since you're here now."
no subject
Bad? Good? When had Annie started caring about that? Good and bad was subjective. She was herself. She brushed a stubborn piece of hair from her eyes. "A warrior doesn't need a whole bunch of useless emotions. If by 'mister' you mean the shorty, it's because we were enemies. Pretty sure it's never going to change."
No sense in beating around the bush, indeed.
"Of course, I had hoped to be left alone for a little while. No chance of that now thanks to a certain idiot, I'm sure."
no subject
She tilted her head. "Also, because I like humans. I am a thinking creature, despite my purpose. I enjoy watching and mingling with humans. Sometimes I help, sometimes I don't. And the sun keeps rising and falling... Though, I will admit. I prefer it when I follow a purpose."
Koishi... thought about that for a moment. "Enemies I understand... But even a warrior needs emotions. If a general and his army are sent to overturn a king, a good warrior's role is to follow orders. But it takes emotion to properly interpret those orders. If ordered to kill someone, do they decide to attack their target while they are fetching water and risk being caught? Or take an easier route and poison the water, thereby, by extension, kill many other, unrelated people? It's not an easy call to make. But a warrior will consider them deeply through their emotions. That's the difference between a warrior and a thug or murderer."
She waved her hand. "Regardless, I can see you had nothing to do with it and you were truthful. If you don't want to start your war again you can come to Fayren. There are lots of places you can be alone. Sis is a youkai too and understands the warrior mindset. It won't fix things but it might help."

She thought back to her time in the 104th trainee squad. Had she liked her time with them? She thought back to teaching Eren. She had smiled then. For the first time in a long while. Maybe she had liked some of it.
Some of what Koishi was saying sounded familiar. Annie too liked a purpose. And right now she found herself lacking. Even though when she was younger a part of her had always resented being told what to do, having a path carved for her, now that she didn't have it she felt lost. She could do anything here and yet she didn't know what she wanted. She was rarely given the choice to consider it.
She seemed to consider the Youkai. She would rather not kill anyone. But sometimes there just wasn't a choice. That's why she went along with the plan. So that one day it would end.
"My war makes no sense here," she said. "Unless this world is that impure too. But if it were, is it necessarily my job to do something with it?" She spoke that last part mostly too herself. For the first time, Annie seemed something more than bored. She just looked lost and tired. She both liked and despised becoming that monster. It was an incredible feeling that no one and nothing could touch you. At least until you came back to yourself and faced the reality of broken bodies and carnage that you left behind. Just because it was necessary didn't mean it wasn't sad. But feeling sad didn't fix anything.
"No matter how you feel, it never changes what has to be done," she concluded flatly. She considered the girl's offer. "Maybe. Some time to consider my role here might be warranted."
no subject
Koishi listened to Annie with her head tilted, a smile on her face still, though it was almost as if she had forgotten to stop smiling as opposed to actually being happy. "Well, no. It's not your job to fix things by yourself. Purity, or rather, 'insignificance' is usually just the perspective of one side. At a distance you can raise your hand and make an entire city disappear. It's good to remember that those in the city can do the same to you. Humans don't usually know any better or are smart enough to tell the difference. Because they have hubris and only one perspective. Even the ones who are begging in the streets."
She tilted her head the other way. "Though if something is truly rotten, it takes a hero, not a warrior to save it. They're not mutually exclusive, but a hero has morality I've seen plenty of good spring back up if the rot is carefully removed. And even rotten grapes can be remade into a fine wine with care." A pause. "But not bread! If bread has a rotten part it means that the rot is all over it because of the air pockets." She had swung full circle, her visibility breaking up a little, third eye dipped very low.
"Feel? No I don't feel anything Miss!" Her tone had changed too. It was lighter. "I can't feel. I only know and I can tell you what I've seen. Lots of screaming and tearing soaked red with blood. All through the years. I've seen so much so I know how it goes." She took Annie's hand- wait, when did she get that close? "You have such a wonderful mind. I wish you would come down and see sis and I." She pouted, her form wavering heavily. It was like her personality had completely flipped. "But you don't like the underground."
scenario 1
"No one was talking to you, ma chéri." He doesn't sound offended or sarcastic or anything. A little concerned perhaps, but there is also a trace of the smile that he tends to wear on his face almost constantly.
