⚒ third - [ audio/open to action ]
I didn't find what I needed in the waterways.
[ There's the sound of pages turning. If one listens carefully, they could hear quiet voices speaking, and the occasional sound of book covers sliding against one another as they are removed from shelves. ]
This library is even bigger than the one in Exsilium. [ And yet, he's only found a few things from Earth Land. Namely some magazines. ] I think I will be here for a while.
[ Another page turn. Zeref murmurs something that sounds vaguely like disapproval, before the feed ends. ]

[ A pause, as more pages turn. ]
I wouldn't suggest that. [ There's a bit of shuffling. Zeref's putting a book back on the shelf. ] I doubt that any of them are here. All I can say is that if they were here, they should be in a place far more secure than a library, where they can be checked out by anyone. I just need to be sure.
[ Video ]
[See, she's putting on her boots and heading out the door. You'll have to do better than that, Zeref.]
So what's up with these books? Do they have teeth? Do they bite whoever tries to read them!? Is that why they need to be somewhere more secure!?
[ audio ]
[ Were he earlier than his canon point, he'd be freaking out right now. Right now, he's more concerned with searching this library. He's seen things from his own world. He needs to be sure that none of his books are here. ]
All I can say is that they contain very powerful, and very dangerous magic within them.
[ Video ]
It's a library... How dangerous could the books be?
Powerful and dangerous magic? Okay, yeah those should probably be locked up somewhere safer. We could probably give them to Harry and he'll look after them.
...If we find them that is.
[ audio ]
[ Video ]
SO THEY CAN BITE?!
[Dun dun dun...]
[ audio ]
In a way. It is best not explained over this... necklace.
[ Video/Action ]
[Not too long after that, Ruby arrives at the library. She's got a pair of gloves and one of the plastic, grabby claw things to help her grab these books that she's quite confident are going to bite her hands off.]
Uhmmm! H-hello!? Mister!
[She'll be shushed by a handful of people in the library.]
Why... Why didn't I get his name?
[Action ]
[ The voice came out from behind another bookshelf. Zeref stepped out into view. Despite this, he makes no effort to come towards her. Ruby doesn't look that old... another young person seeking him out and having absolutely no idea what they are getting into. Zeref sighs. ]
Don't come closer. My magic is under control for now, but I don't want to risk it.
[Action ]
[There he is, Ruby starts to walk toward him but freezes mid-step when he tells her not to come in any closer.]
Uhmmm... Have you ever considered getting a leash for your magic? It might help you keep it under control a bit better.
[Action ]
[ A curt response. Zeref knows everything there is to know about the Black Arts. If he knew of a way to control his magic beyond it being linked to his emotions, a lot of lives could have been saved.
Zeref begins looking through another bookshelf. He's said his piece. ]
It would be an old, leather-bound book bearing my name on it.
[Action ]
[She'll start to poke around the library a little bit in search of the book. It takes her a moment to realize she's missing a vital piece of information, but when she does notice she'll pop right up behind Zeref with the help of her speed semblance.]
Ummm... So just what is your name anyways?
[Action ]
[ Zeref was about to move to another shelf, when he heard her question. Right, she would need that information, wouldn't she? He pauses, lowering his hand from the bookshelf, sighing. He closes his eyes. ]
... Zeref. [ He says quietly. It's clear he doesn't like sharing information about himself, including his name. In his world, that name is synonymous with evil. Enough to terrify the entire Magic Council and inspire Dark Guilds for centuries.
He hates all of it. ]
[Action ]
[She'll just smile and shrug like it's no big deal, she wasn't afraid of any crazy dark magic.]
Zeref? Hmmm... That's a nice name, Well let's get looking!
[She'll attempt to grab Zeref's hand and drag him along with her while they look.]
[Action ]
[ Zeref raises his hand, taking several steps back. He was willing to let her come here to help him look for one of his books, but this... ]
People have died from doing less than touching me.
Re: [Action ]
I was just trying to help.
[She'll sigh, but she'll keep her distance as she starts to look around for the book again.]
...So just what's up with your magic anyways?
[Action ]
[ He doesn't have a reason to hate the humans of this world. Yet. He'd rather keep as low of a profile as possible, and he doesn't need collateral damage this early. ]
It's called 'Death Magic.' [ Guess why? ] It can instantly kill anything it touches on contact... and I can't control it all of the time.
[Action ]
She takes a deep breath, and a small step back but then she nods.]
Okay, I'll be careful. ...But I'm still going to help you find that book too.
Is there anyway that you can learn how to control it better? Or is it just that hard to use?
[Action ]
The more I come to value life... [ Zeref murmured, his eyes scanning another bookshelf. He would occasionally reach his hand up as if he had seen something, only to lower it immediately after. ] ... the more lives I take. That changes if I forget the value of life. But in that case, I'm likely to kill anyway... only intentionally.
[Action ]
[She'll lower her head and raise a hand over to rub that back of it nervously.]
I mean, that must be pretty tough for you, isn't it?
[Action ]
[ A sigh. He then slowly shakes his head, and resumes scanning the bookshelves. ]
The worst part is that humanity has yet to learn the most important lesson from my actions.
