⚒ third - [ audio/open to action ]

I didn't find what I needed in the waterways.

[ There's the sound of pages turning. If one listens carefully, they could hear quiet voices speaking, and the occasional sound of book covers sliding against one another as they are removed from shelves. ]

This library is even bigger than the one in Exsilium. [ And yet, he's only found a few things from Earth Land. Namely some magazines. ] I think I will be here for a while.

[ Another page turn. Zeref murmurs something that sounds vaguely like disapproval, before the feed ends. ]

[Riiight. If frowns had a sound, it would be this pause. You just answered 'purple' to a yes or no question.]

Alright, is it bigger than a bread box and dangerous? Or smaller than a bread box and dangerous?

It matters, idiot.

[There's another sound of a large rock hitting something hard and falling.]

A great many of the people in the central city are completely normal and have the survival ability of a baby panda. As for the other four... [A slight sound of irritation.] They might be a little more wary, but if it's a threat they are not ready for they might as well be baby pandas as well for a while. So I'll ask once more, is this thing you're looking for dangerous?

Alright. Then after your first hour at the library you may as well give up. Libraries rarely have one-of-a-kind or hand written books and if they do they'll be eternally checked out to a long list of people.

[There's a slight hum and some crackling paper as she unfolds a map.]

If those books are here, and if the authorities haven't already scooped them up to lock away into being forgotten, then someone else has them. And since there doesn't seem to be panic and chaos, someone who isn't evil or has no idea what they possess.

[a slightly rusty chuckle]

That could be true. But if they're in someone's attic it could take you forever to find them. But perhaps it's better that way? I take it you have experience in a road less traveled.

It's about the most repetitive story in any universe. And I can hardly fault them though at the same time I can see a bit of a flaw in that logic. But in any case... Is it purely magic, or did you include some sort of mental presence?

Would a telepath be able to sense them? Both the books and the demons?

[That sound? Totally not a yawn. Silly daylight...]

[the wry smile is certainly audible]

Certainly not, I've experienced enough sewage over the years I'm not about to step right in another unknown puddle just because I'm curious. But one doesn't have to talk to something to notice it at the end of the street.

That's rather helpful. There's a certain rhythm to a destructive mindset that can be recognized if it's strong enough.
