03 | Action & Text
Who: Airy & OPEN
Where: Genessia Hospital
When: March 29th - April 3rd
What: After these happenings. She's in the hospital for a few days before being allowed to head home and some text's to friends.
Warnings: Talks of Blood and injuries.
[Airy doesn't remember the first 12 hours in the hospital which saves her from at least twelve hours of boredom. She isn't good at staying put and thinking about her kidnapping makes her head spin and then hurt. She can't have caffeine or anything else she enjoys because of the medicine they have her taking and the steady stream of blood being pumped into her arm. Her ankle and shoulder are bandaged but the painkillers stop them from hurting.
The worst part about painkillers is that they make it to hard to focus on things like reading or writing but it isn't enough to just knock her out and make her sleep. She ends up playing a lot of candy crush on her phone; after sending a few somewhat awkward texts to those she knew.
Her stomach rumbles and she drops her phone onto her abdomen as if that might make the insistent feeling go away. Airy really likes eating, specifically breakfast, and while the food here isn't awful it isn't very good either. She misses real food and that fact alone makes her sad.]
Text; OPEN
I'm bored. Anyone interested in talking? Or telling me a story? Any distraction?
Private Text; Danny & Dave & Nathan
Thank you for saving me.
Private Text; Cas
Sorry... I have the candy and real, not spidery moving twinkies. Something came up... I don't know when I'll be able to stop by. I haven't forgotten though!
I'll see you soon okay?

I'll see you soon okay?

Sleep okay? I mean, not that this is the position I should be engaging in small talk with you in. Let me move. Just - yeah. [ he straightens himself out, plops back down in the chair with a sigh. everything's still cool. ]
Got more pillows.
no subject
Yeah, I was sleeping fine. [Sort of, she had a pretty weird nightmare like dream but she doesn't really want to talk about it.]
Thank you for the pillows. Pillows are great.
[Airy really hates it when she gets like this.]
no subject
Yeah, you're welcome. Pillows are pretty rad. Comfortable and capable of being used to build forts.
[ he goes quiet, takes one of the phones and uses it to record the heart monitor beeping to the sound of their mutual awkwardness about him momentarily being close enough to notice little flecks in her eyes of color. ]
That's a pretty sweet beat. [ get it. because it's a beat.... ]
no subject
[Airy laughs nervously as Dave begins to sample the quickening tone of her heart beat. It does sounds interesting though she had been trying to ignore the melodious backdrop.]
You'll turn a heartbeat into a song.
[It almost sounds like she doesn't believe he will.]
no subject
[ everyone's welcome for that imagery. he stops his little recording once he has good sample size of it and looks to her (now that his face stopped being red), one eyebrow raised. ]
Heartbeats are already songs. But I can mix 'em.
no subject
That isn't what girls do at sleep overs. [Despite what he and Mark might daydream about.
Airy stretches sleepily feeling her joints ache.] I hadn't really thought of a heartbeat as a song. Though there is that one song... um... "This is my heartbeat song and I'm going to play it. Something something... I'm gonna save it up up up up all night long..." [Airy sings part of it and talks through the rest of it.]
So I don't actually know the words.
no subject
Who said anything about girls?
[ he makes a thoughtful hum then goes through his phone, now filled to the brim with the majority of airy's music ]
What would that be called? Heartbeat? This one? [ now playing ]
no subject
[Her brother and his friends would just play video games and stay up all night.]
Yes! I knew I had it.
[Though she hadn't remembered all the words correctly.]
no subject
[ Karkat is really good at painting nails ]
This is about as pop as it gets, huh?
no subject
[Airy smiles and then yawns again. She doesn't remember ever feeling this tired before.]
I wonder at what age you stop having sleepovers
no subject
[ pushes his glasses up with two fingers ]
You can go back to sleep, you know. You're all tucked in now.
no subject
Yeah, I will.
[She settles down in the array of pillows.]
It's like sleeping on clouds.
no subject
[ folds his arms and relaxes back again in the chair. after a moment he moves it so he can put his feet up on the edge of her bed by her legs ]

btw we can end this whenever, I just like this thread lol
She's a little surprised that Dave had stayed and a little happy. She smiles at him but doesn't move to wake up. After a few moments a nurse comes in to check on the bandages wrapped around Airy's shoulder and ankle. She spoke softly, mindful of the sleeping teen who is curled up in the chair.]
We just need to process some paper work and change your bandages and you should be able to leave today.
[Airy is very excited by this news and after the nurse checks a few more things she leaves. Airy isn't actually sure what the nurses do half the time but they always seem to be helpful.]
it's a good thread
Fuck. [ safe space. nobody's there. ] ...Oh. [ clears his throat and sinks back into the chair, exhaling a breath ] 'Sup, Airy? How you feeling?
It is!
Better. They are going to give me some stuff but I'll be released today.
[They have to give her bandages and meds.]
You sleep okay?
no subject
[ he rubs one of his arms idly, shrugs ]
Eh. [ No. ] It was okay. [ He never sleeps right. ]
no subject
Just okay?
no subject
[ he pushes himself up to his feet, briefly stretching his arms over his head with a yawn then ducking out of the room on her before she could question him further. he keeps rambling on the way out. coffee coffee blah blah blah blah ]
no subject
That's be nice. They'll be back to change my bandages soon anyway and I don't think you can stay in here for that.
[Mostly because of the wound on Airy's shoulder, changing the bandage makes wearing clothes precarious.
She watches him leave and wonders if he even heard her. She hopes he's alright.]
no subject
Okay. I had no idea what you put in it so that one has milk, that's got sugar, that's got cream, and that's got all of it. And this one is pure bitter shit.
no subject
All of it. [She smiles at him, her head tilting to the side as she slips the button down over her shoulders. It’s awkward with her injured shoulder and she struggles to get both arms through the holes.]
I like coffee that tastes nothing like coffee.
no subject
[ he doesn't finish asking if she needs help with that. he puts the cups down and moves closer to her, reaching over to hold the shirt in place so she doesn't have to struggle with it. he gently tugs it over her shoulders the rest of the way once she got her arms in. ]
What the fuck is the point of drinking coffee then?
