It has been some time since I have officially updated the situation here, but there have been some major developments in regards to the investigation. There was an attempt to plant an undercover agent within their ranks, but to no avail. However, with the new security systems Guardian Satori had commissioned, and the information gathered from the exploded house, the Hands of Decay have not been able to move freely within Fayren, and I have done a complete survey of the city itself, and there are no hidden locations that may be used as hideouts.

It has become increasingly clear that the Hands of Decay are not within the city limits and I would like to instruct those investigating to adjust their searches accordingly. I would also like to ask those with any magical abilities to aid in the creation of a temporary barrier around the city so that those coming in and out can be more carefully screened.

In one week's time, I would like to begin orchestrating large area searches of the areas surrounding Fayren. In this, I would prefer those with abilities that allow them to pick out life even from deep underground to join me in canvasing the area.

We have driven them out of the city, it's time we bring them to justice.

I have some skill with shields. I've been teaching myself more since this all started. It would take a few days to make one that goes around the whole town. At least without help. I'm able to scribe rules into my shields so I can have it flare green or some other signal instead of just keeping someone out.

I don't know if that'll help.

Would you be able to create rules that specifically target only the Hands of Decay to keep them from passing through?

I think so. I just need to make sure the wording is correct. With such a big area it might take a few days and I have to know what you want it to do. I can just make it a shield or if you want something else?

I just need to be able to focus on the work and know where you want the line. It'll be invisible until someone triggers it.

The best course of action I think would be to simply bar any entrance. So long as they cannot enter, we can monitor the area and easily identify any that react to the barrier.

I expected as much. I will personally oversee the project and keep any from bothering you while placing the barrier. That said, it would likely be best if we kept the number of people in the area to a minimum to avoid drawing attention.

That will indeed be useful, however I think your expertise and abilities will be more useful within the city proper. I am in talks to erect a barrier that targets and bars only those affiliated with the Hands of Decay from entering the city. However, it will take time to erect, and should any operatives be trapped within the city, we will need abilities like yours to see through any subterfuge employed.

I will help in the investigation as always. I can bring one of the Tundra dragons in my clan who has a keen sense of smell.

That would be most helpful. I'm expecting them to be hiding in some of the ruins surrounding the city, and a sense of smell would be very useful in finding in the ruins.

I was wondering...about those mages who were poisoned and lost their magic. Has anyone found a sample of that poison?

I'm afraid not. I've acquired some blood samples, but my tests and research have turned up nothing. All the more reason to end this threat before they can move forward with their plans.

Would you mind if we gave it a try? Orphne is exceptionally skilled with medicine, and her sons can help with any magical properties. She was the one who cured the plague that crippled our clan. So I'm thinking she might be able to come up with something to counter the Hands of Decay's poison.

You're more than welcome to examine it as well, however there are no foreign substances that I can detect in the samples I've gathered.

[Fai was rubbing his brow slightly. He was pretty decent with barriers, but that was more for protection rather than being able to physically scan people and as far as he figured they didn't have magic, but that's not like it would be easy to point out unless it was something unique in itself.]

I can try and see what there is in the safes that might be able to do such a thing. But I cannot guarantee anything.

That would be most appreciated. I have already been contacted by one that can erect a barrier specific to the Hands of Decay, however anything that can alleviate her task would be helpful.

Do you know how exactly that barrier works to determine the difference between who are apart of the Hands of Decay and who might just be a normal citizen?

Mostly because I don't know much about other world magic beyond what worlds I had gone to and to see if I myself can be of help in helping them.

I do not. However, I have no doubt that it will work. The person in question has been instrumental in aiding the investigation and has thwarted the plans of the Hands at great risk to her own well-being, as well as being affiliated with a guild that has taken a rather outspoken stance on the issue.

However, as the barrier is erected, I will be monitoring it and testing its ability to discern friend from foe, as it were, on my own. If you wish to help, however, I will see if my contact would be comfortable working with you.

Understandable, but if not I'll be fine just being an observer and just simply keeping an eye out.
