05: Explorations (Open Action, Genessia City)

Notes: Less getting lost, more SHOPPING! Clothes shopping specifically, though she can be found in other places.
Warnings: Depends on what clothes she ends up finding.

A. Clothing Stores

[ Seeing some of this fashion really makes Adela think that she's in far over her head.

It isn't the price tags that are shocking her, not really, but... More of just how much skin everything shows. She'd been doing this with the intent of maybe trying to fit in somewhere that wasn't Fayren all of the time, but seeing some of the selection is a bit too much for her. Red-faced, the small teen finally ends up giving up on this store and makes to essentially flee the scene...

Unfortunately, with her eyes on the ground in front of her, she doesn't see who she bumps into rather suddenly and she back-pedals with a grunt. ]

I-I am sorry... [ Why is this happening. She's too nervous to really care whose fault it is or who bumped into who, just as long as she can get out without getting completely overwhelmed. ]

B. Cat's Eye Café

[ This place seems so nice... And it smells pleasant, too.

Adela finds herself seated at a small table by the window, and the experience isn't like any she's had before even on entering the café. She can't help a soft and almost gentle expression pulling at her expression as she just takes everything in, reading over the menu. It feels like she's spoilt for choice, unsure of just what she should pick and having to take quite a long time with it. A part of her is feeling adventurous, but what to pick?

Her attention shifts when she notices someone approaching, though if they're a server or not... Well, that remains to be said. ]

C. Park

[ Whether she's empty-handed or has her plunder for the day, the park is a place Adela will visit without fail. Even if Fayren has the ocean, something about the park and the pond there is just soothing to her. She can be found sitting near the shore, skipping any suitable pebbles she can find along the water or otherwise just watching the other passers-by. It's a reminder that even in this strange world, there are things she can appreciate about it.

Now, if only it wasn't tempting to nap by the shore. She seems to be nodding off every so often, as if being in the warm spring sun and the fatigue of the day are tempting her to sleep right then and there. ]

Do you think it would be good for work clothing?

[ If there's one thing that can be said about Adela, it's that she'll usually think of function over fashion. This is no different. ]

My clothes often get dirty easily, through smoke and ash and grease if I am working with Miss Winry... Maybe purchasing something specific for work is a good idea.

Having work clothes is definitely a good idea. Keep the cute ones from getting dirty.

That said, you have to match the work clothes to the work. You wouldn't want say, a simple tee shirt and pants when you're doing construction work, or in the case of what you're saying. I'd say you'd want something you don't mind getting dirty or mind a few holes in them.

If you're wanting something that won't rip as easily, denim is definitely one way to go.

There is that, and I will be working in high heat as well.

[ She nods, looking over the denim shirt once more before draping it over her arm. ]

Is there anything else you might suggest to try?

Well if it's high heat, you'd probably want something light and airy too to ensure that you've got air flowing to cool you down.

[Something like the light blue top she's grabbed. It certainly looks rather light on thread, so probably a bit embarrassing considering it's obvious skin could be showing underneath easily enough.]

Doesn't do much, but at least it lets you try to keep cool in hot temperatures.

[ Give her a moment.

Yeah she's pretty red just looking at it, and after a beat she manages to clear her throat and glance away. ]

I uhm... I appreciate the thought but... Uh... It may also need to be resistant to fire. You see, there are often sparks flying, and if it catches fire easily I may end up with more burns than usual.

[ As if to prove her point she's showing Yang the burns along her right arm from years of work, old and healed but still there. There are similar burns along her left arm as well. It's not at all because the material is sheer of course not. ]

[Well that does put a damper on it then.]

Well I definitely wouldn't want to wear any of this around a fire. Why not just go with what you usually wear if you're near flames so much?

[Yang's not so concerned about Adela's burn marks. In the line of work she does, scars and such are pretty common too even with Aura to help heal the small wounds.]

You could always wear something under it to keep at least your chest covered, though that might defeat the purpose of avoiding heat.

... I would be more worried about the apprentice work I do with Winry, honestly. Even if it is not nearly as hot, it is just as messy so I may need different clothing for that. I can make do with what I have for my forge work.

I would like other things to wear on days I am not working, though. Just... Because I wish to. Does that sound strange?

That's not strange at all. That's normal really. Everyone wants to have clothes they can wear when they aren't working. That's the whole point of clothes, to have things you want to wear for different occasions. [And the whole wearing clothes thing.]

I have never really had clothes I could wear simply for the sake of wearing something nice before, so I would not know.

Really? What do you wear when you're not working then?

[Now the blonde's really confused. Do people not get days off in other worlds? Or down time?]

Well either way, you get to have them now, so try out things, learn some fashion, and start wearing cute outfits that'll get all the guys!

[Yep, the blonde has her priorities straight.]

Whatever happens to be clean, I suppose.

[ She can feel her skin starting to heat up when Yang mentions getting all the guys though, and one of her eyes twitches before she shakes her head. ]

I am not really interested in that, miss Yang...

Well if you're wanting the girl's attention instead, that's fine too. Not a bad idea whichever side you go for.

[The blonde's clearly teasing by that grin on her face, waving her arm at the list of clothes all over.]

So why don't you go look for something you might want to wear and try it out?

That is not funny! I do not want that, either!

[ She's practically bristling, blushing darkly as she looks away from Yang and finding herself just a little too distracted to really pay attention to the clothes Yang was pointing out or to really respond to anything else at the moment. ]

I'm just messing with you, don't get so upset.

[The blonde's waving down Adela with one hand as she tries to placate the redhead.]

[ She stops yelling, but Adela does still ~~pout~~ scowl at the taller blond while still completely red-faced. Jeez... Why does practically everyone she meets feel the need to tease her like that? ]

[Yang finds Adela's reactions adorable personally. The girl was cute and blushing and always reacted so easily.]

Well, why don't we continue shopping? We can probably find a few good clothes that'll keep you covered.

... All right.

[ She nods, finally calming down all the way and willing enough to follow Yang around. There are things she picks up to look at of course, more out of curiosity than anything else, but will she actually wear any of it.

It's questionable, though it doesn't seem like she's about to bolt anymore. ]

[Yang's helping Adela find nice clothes to wear, toning down on the teasing as she merely helps look for clothes in complementary colors and styles that won't look out of place. The blonde is grabbing a few things for herself too, more showy than Adela's, but again the blonde's more used to showing a little skin.]

So...what say we go try these on? See what you think?

[ She nods at the question, slipping into a changing room and trying on the clothing selected. The dresses in particular are a little strange, and she's not quite used to such form-fitting clothing in general but... In time, she can probably get used to it, and the blouses and trousers seem to be all right, if a bit out of place with her boots.

After trying a particular shirt and pants combo she peeks out, looking around for where Yang is. Maybe the other girl is still in the changing rooms? ]

[Yang was done checking out her own outfits to wear, peeking back out at Adela as the girl opened the door.]

Hey, that looks pretty nice. Classy and comfortable.

You think so?

[ She does blush a little, but it's more of a pink dusting than the much more drastic reactions shown earlier. She does make her way to one of the mirrors then, looking it over from all angles. Before Adela even realizes it, there's a real smile tugging at her expression. ]

I like it...

[ It's clothing she's never worn before, but it really does look nice, almost like a treat. How long has it been since she's worn anything new? It's never been like this either, and now that she's a little more comfortable... Well, it might just be fun. At least a little. ]

Yeah? It looks cute and you wear it pretty well.

[Yang's dressed in a tan skirt and a light brown collared shirt, something easy to slip over her head even with one arm.]

Since you've found something good, do you have any eye for any other clothes to try?

Well... Nothing for trousers, but I found this.

[ She holds up another blouse she's found, holding it up in front of her so Yang can see how the colour would look.

And, of course, she doesn't leave it at that. ]

You look really nice, Yang.

That's not a bad one. The color goes well with your hair. [A nice cool and warm contrast.]

[Yang poses as she's complemented, a swish of her skirt and a smile on her face.]

It is not a pleasure I can say I have had before, that is true.

[ Excuse her Yang, she's just going to slip back into the change room to try on that new shirt. It looks nice, but she still needs to make sure it fits her after all! ]
