Movie Night!
Who: Luke and Koishi!
When: Late April, actually
Where: Luke's flat
What: Time to watch Spirited Away!
Warnings: Aggressive cuteness
After being kidnapped, Luke has spent a lot of time laying low and healing. But his fears of Koishi in the hospital, after he'd woken from a nightmare, still ate at him--he felt guilty for reacting to her the way he had. And while he couldn't suggest they go about and do something (Koishi's idea of a fun afternoon was flying or running about town, both things he didn't feel quite up to doing just yet), he thought he could come up with a way to spend an afternoon...
So he borrowed a film from the library.
It looked interesting enough. Called Spirited Away, the cover talked about gods and spirits and witches and humans turning into beasts. It didn't look scary and the art was beautiful, and Luke thought it would be a nice way to spend the afternoon with his friend.
So when Koishi arrives, she'll find his flat arranged for them to watch a movie. Luke's put as many pillows as he can on the small sofa. He's made popcorn (don't mind if a little bit of it is burnt. Not a lot of it is, just some.) And, because he's still Luke, there's some tea for a bit later to enjoy as well.
All that he needs now is his guest.

"Luke! Hey! I'm here!" Drifting forward she gave Luke a big hug, squeezing a little, but not too tight, the hug a little awkward due to the basket on her arm. She let him go, drifting back a little bit but not before switching their hats!
"I brought snacks too! Sis is a really good cook and so she made lots of good things for us to eat." Undoubtedly there would be mochi in there along with a variety of other things. Satori always made sure Koishi arrived with enough food and then some.

Mr. Hat flopped into his face as it usually did, and Luke pushed its brim up, smiling weakly. "Hi Koishi! Miss Satori doesn't have to make food every single time you know. I said I'd have snacks this time--"
To prove his point, Luke headed to the kitchen and placed the bowl of popcorn on the small table, before settling on the couch. "I picked a movie I thought you might like. It's supposed t'be about a girl who meets witches and spirits and stuff. See?"
Handing Koishi the case to Spirited Away, Luke smiles. "I've never seen it before, so I hope it's good."

If nothing else, so long as the sisters were around, Luke would not starve. And he also got to try a variety of foreign things.
She followed him back inside carrying a little variety plate of snacks, setting it down next to the popcorn. A bit curious she picked up a piece of popcorn and examined it... at least until Luke held up the movie.
"I see." She took the case from him, turning it over, reading he summary, examining all the little pictures. "I've never seen it either but I don't do things with the moving box much. But umm..." She pursed her lips. "I've seen lots of humans who've been spirited away, actually. Back home in Gensokyo. It was always cracked down with water growing cold and hot again until its found. I hope that doesn't happen here."
She placed the piece of popcorn in her mouth, pausing, looking down at the bowl, her eyes brightening. "... That's really good. And strange... and good!"

Still, he smiles at Koishi's response to the popcorn. She seems to like it and that's enough for him. It wasn't a snack he usually prepared for her and it did go so well with films that it seemed a sin not to prepare it.
He took a piece of fruit from the selection that Satori had sent, nibbling away cheerfully, as Koishi munched on pocorn. "I'm glad you like the popcorn. But don't eat it all before the film starts or you won't have anything to munch on!"
Taking the movie back, he opens the case, smiling. "Ready to watch?"
no subject
A little disappointed, but she would get to eat more when the movie started so it wasn't too bad. Carrying it and some of the mochi blobs over, she floated over the back of the couch and settled into her seat, placing the bowl between them and putting the mochi on the table nearby.
"Yeah! I'm ready to watch." A pause. "How does it work though? I know its in the moving box but how do you make it start?"

Luke pressed a button on the DVD player, watching as the disc drive popped open, and then carefully placed the CD in. "Like this. You putt he little disc in here, and the machine will play it." Pushing the disc drive back in, the machine starts whirring and he presses play, sitting back next to Koishi and moving the bowl of popcorn to the table so he could sit directly next to her. It was still well within reach, but it subtly allowed him to be close enough that they were nearly touching. How dare popcorn get in the way! "I mean, I'm not really sure exactly how it works. I'm not that good with machines and such, but I know this is how you get the film to play."
Music began to play, and Luke sank into the seat as Suna jumped on to the sofa and curled up with her head and front legs on one of his legs and her feet on Koishi's, tail swishing lazily. "Ah--Suna is happy to see you, too." As if in agreement, the little fox yipped, rolling slightly onto her side. To which Luke enthusiastically shushed her. "Shhh Suna, the film's about to start. We can talk all you'd like when it's finished!"

The plant pokemon waddled over to the window, sitting in the patch of sun while Gallade chose to sit on the floor next to the couch on Luke's side. Ditto crawled its way up into Koishi's lap, changing itself into Suna's shape with a rather... silly face.
"Ditto." More of a playful scold than anything else, Koishi settled down to watch the movie with Luke. "You can stay there but don't bother Suna, okay?"
She seemed relaxed, but engaged for the most part during the start of the movie, occasionally munching a piece of popcorn (and tapping Suna once or twice so she didn't steal any.) She did start to giggle though when the family decided to explore the carnival without a care. And under her breath "Have humans really forgotten about us so much as to wander so readily into danger?" Her eyes were glowing brighter now, her smile only growing when the spirits showed up and the parents were turned into pigs.
Haku caught her attention some, tilting her head, quiet as he helped Chihiro though the bathhouse and took care of her. She seemed impressed, almost moved by the girl's tenacity. Even as the youkai talked about how delicious she smelled. But then again that was what made humans strong. Already the corners of Koishi's eyes were tinged black.
Completely engaged now, she raised her eyebrows when the girl joined the workers at the bath. And what she had to do. Helping the river spirit so readily, frowned a little at No-Face's actions, and visibly cringed as the paper shikigami swarmed Haku. She leaned forward as Chihiro was chased and settled back once more during the train ride. 'Don't look back' Haku said in the end. And Koishi just lowered her head a bit, growing more still in her seat. And everything was as it should be.
She looked over to Luke, her eyes less human than was probably comfortable, but they were bright and clear. She moved the now empty popcorn bowl to one side, scooting sideways on the couch and giving him a big hug and a small squeeze. She was careful not to hurt him.
