[Yugi was currently sitting at the new house he had brought, trying to figure out how to decorate. With two others living here he figured they should at least figure that out when they were all available. But it wasn't just that he was thinking about. It was about his birthday in a months time. When he had turned the feed on, he was standing in what appeared to be a mostly empty room minus a sofa for the most part.]

This might seem like a really odd question, but I figured I would ask anyway. But what do people normally do for a birthday when it isn't just like a handful of friends?

[He only had like a few friends back home, so usually he would have spent it with them hanging out and playing games more than likely. But here it's different.]

Last year on my birthday I didn't do anything because well...I didn't have many friends here but now I have more friends than I could have ever imagined I honestly don't think what I would normally do would be a bright idea.

[He paused for a brief moment.]

Plus with it being my 18th in a months time, I thought I would try and figure it out now instead of later. [He wondered if it was silly to want to plan something like this in a months time, but he really hadn't a clue what he wanted to do.]

I really would appreciate the help.

Koishi managed to answer fairly quickly, the phone a bit too close to her face. "You're human, right?" Not the most polite opening to a conversation... "Sis and I are timeless so we don't really celebrate the day we manifested but you're human so you should always celebrate no matter what!"

"And also, always do something that you think is fun. What are your favorite things to do Mister?"

[He guessed that meant the other wasn't as she was talking, but she did bring up a point and well... he didn't want to do something that he liked doing since that is what they usually do.]

Playing games for the most part, but it's also something I do everyday, so it#s not soemthing I can do for this.

"Ohh..." Koishi tilted her head. "Why not?" A valid question. "If you love playing games then you should play games for your birthday. But maybe play something you don't normally do. Find something new and interesting. Like danmaku!"

No, Koishi! Don't make Yugi play danmaku! He can't fly or shoot projectiles. Not everyone is a bullet hell boss!

Playing games is something I do on a daily basis, so playing them for my birthday wouldn't really make it special.

[He paused for a moment.]

What is danmanku?

Koishi's eyes actually lit up. Literally. "Oh! Mister! Danmaku is something from my world. Since there are lots of really powerful, near-immortal creatures it would be silly to settle disputes by fighting. And if a human opposed us then it would be very unfair. Danmaku is a form of non-lethal dueling we use to settle disputes! The idea is to dazzle your opponent with beautiful patterns and emotions so they are unable to avoid your attacks. It's just as much about beauty and cunning as raw power."

"My birthday is usually mixed in with a unrelated 3-day festival. I had one back in March."

[There really wasn't much else that she was comfortable talking about.]

So basically you celebrate your birthday with a lot of people because of it?

"...In a way. The local commoners may leave me gifts and some nobility may actually stay longer on the actual birthday."

[Overall, she considers is a rather lonely occasion.]

That sounds like an... interesting way to celebrate, but do people not spend it with you?

[Airy knew she was older than him.]

My family usually does something more traditional. It's just a small party with close friends and family. There is cake and sometimes dancing if me, Mark or my parents are there. We open presents and then just hang out.

Two years ago we watched a movie together which was a lot of fun.

Yeah, not sure if it is amazing though since all of my friends aren't here to celebrate.

[It was nice to have friends here, but it made him miss the friends who aren't here.]

While I am happy to have friends here... There are just some friends back at home I miss and wish they could see me when I did turn 18.

[Airy can see the downside but she also enjoys being an optimist.]

It just means when you return home you need to have another 18th birthday party. With all of your friends. It doesn't really matter when you set it because a birthday is just celebrating that you're alive and being happy that you are.

[He nodded slightly. He guessed he could do something like that.]

That makes sense, if we ever get home, but for all I know I might not get home before I'm 19.

I can't imagine having no one to spend a birthday with.

[She looks and sounds dejected as anything- probably because she was gonna go through that in under two weeks.]

But, uhm. You could have a party? Invite all your friends and go out, maybe?

I hadn't been here long when I turned 17 here, so the number of friends I had were low to non existent.

[He nodded, a party would be a good idea, but iut would be something he would have to plan.]

A party would be a fun idea. Maybe a themed one.

I guess I'm gonna get a repeat of your first experience then.

[She just kind of mumbles that, not exactly realizing she said it loud enough that he could hear it.]

Themed parties are always fun. My friends and I always did those back at home. There were always bets on which of us would have that year's aircraft themed party first.

[He tilted his head slightly.]

[ Guess who just realized he missed birthdays.

And is also remembering that he had been 16 when he died. Heck, he even knows when his birthdays is now, not that he's translated it into the modern calendar. ]

Yeah. Since I've been here over a year, I turned 17 here. So this year I'm 18.

[Admitting one has been here for a while was still a little weird.]

[ Guess who's trying to think of a way to make that up to his partner. ]

We could always host some sort of event at the game shop to show off Duel Monsters. I'm sure we could get Kaiba to agree to help.

Yeah. I kind of missed it to since I didn't celebrate or anything.

[He just pretended it was another day. He had no one to really celebrate it after all.]

Or if I get around to opening the new store do an opening thing there.

[It couldn't hurt to do that he figured.]

At my last school, one kid didn't have a party. We all just went to an amusement park. [He smiles at the happy memory.] It was fun.

I think it's generally up to the person who's birthday is being celebrated. I had a scavenger hunt one year, but that's kind of my thing. Is there something you want for your birthday. Yugi?

That does sound like it was fun.

[He paused for a moment.]

I just want everyone to have fun.
